If Tomorrow Never Come

If Tomorrow Never Come
Chapter 63. Hope for the healing of oma

“Oma, survive Oma!” Galuh cupped his hands in Oma's hands, panicking at the state of oma. He was alone there, Reza was down to buy food for him.

The oma's breath was wheezing, her mouth was open groaning in pain and her chest was descending rapidly. Galuh can't stand to see the state of the oma like that.

“Oma.” Galuh's tears did not stop flowing, he pressed a button again on the head of the oma hoping the doctor would come soon.

Not long after, there was the sound of footsteps entering the nursing room.

The doctor and two nurses came and examined the oma, one of them asking Galuh to pull over so as not to interfere with their work.

“Please save, oma.” Galuh said, her tone sounded a bit hysterical. He gripped the doctor's white coat with his hands shaking.

The doctor smiled nodding, he understood the panic the woman before him felt. The doctor patted Galuh's shoulder gently and assured her that they would do their best for the oma. “We will do our best for the safety and healing of our patients.”

Galuh pulled over, standing near the door staring at the nanar on the oma that was being handled. Galuh could hear the sound of the breathing of an oma who gasped, her body trembling suddenly. He was terrified, something bad happened to oma.

“God, please save oma.” Galuh said many prayers, asking the Almighty to give salvation to oma.

The sound of hasty footsteps was heard entering the orma's outpatient room. Galuh turned his head when the door nearby opened, he immediately rushed into Reza's embrace who came while carrying a package of food in his hand.

“What happened with oma?” reza asked after Galuh let go of his embrace, he put the food wrapper in his hand on the table while staring at the doctor who was examining the oma.

“Oma woke up and suddenly her breath was stingy. I immediately called the doctor,” Galuh's story was short, and Reza nodded in understanding.

Shortly after the doctor finished checking and then invited them to talk, after the condition of the oma calmed down and fell asleep again. Galuh stood beside Reza, and the man hugged her while continuing to rub her shoulders.

“How is oma, Doctor?” galuh asked while staring at the sleeping oma.

The doctor sighed before starting to speak, he looked anxiously at Reza and then spoke to Galuh who continued to look at him expectantly. “Condition of the current patient is very serious.”

The doctor continued his speech again by describing many medical terms related to the pain experienced by oma that Galuh did not understand at all, but one thing he knew for sure was the current critical oma condition.

“What is the condition that severe, can oma recover?” galuh asked, hoping that God would hear his prayer and that a miracle would come to oma.

The age of the old oma is also the decreased endurance of his body at this time greatly affects the healing process. “We are worried that the patient will not be as easy as it can recover. But we will continue to fight hard to be able to save him.”

“Oma is strong, oma can definitely survive and be able to get through this all. And oma will come back at us,” Reza said as she rubbed Galuh's back.

The next few hours, they waited in silence. The doctor has returned to his room since then, Reza and Galuh live in the nursing room.

Reza sat beside the oma bed, staring silently and not saying much while continuing to rub the hands of the oma. Galuh sat opposite him watching.

Reza's eyes glazed over, the man was seen trying to hold back the tears as well as the sadness of his heart. Galuh was eager to comfort him, whispering soothing words in his ears. But he was not sure he would be able to do it, while he himself was so frightened.

Then the sound of restrained sobs was heard, breaking and filling the hearing room Galuh. At first he did not realize, until then he saw the shoulders of Reza's field shaking violently. The man was crying.

Galuh gasp, “Abang?”

Galuh got up, walked around and immediately hugged Reza's shoulder. The man cried and buried his face on Galuh's shoulder, his tears spilled down his neck as well as the blouse he was wearing.

“Crying, Bang. Don't be held back, cry if it can make your chest relieved.” Galuh hugged her husband's head on her chest, sweeping her fingers affectionately in Reza's thick hair. She loved him so much, her tears fell on her husband's head.

Reza hugged Galuh's waist tightly, burying his face deeper and deeper in his wife's neck. “I want oma healed. I want to see oma continue to be with us.”

Galuh nodded, she patted the wide back of her husband. “We both pray for the healing of oma and papa.”

The two hugged each other for a long time, Reza looked up at Galuh with her wet eyes. “You know, I love you so much. I don't want to lose you. I want to see our children born and grow up, and we can stay together forever.”

Reza's face turned sad, he lowered his face and rubbed Galuh's stomach which was still flat with protection. “Growing and growing well in mom's belly, yes dear. Daddy love you guys.”

Galuh cupped Reza's face, her chest tightened by the deep love for her husband. He wiped away the tears in the corner of his eye. “I know, I love you too Brother. We'll both see our children grow up together. And don't ever try to think of leaving Me alone.”

Reza pulled the nape of Galuh and kissed his lips deep and long. Galuh put her arms around her husband's neck and returned her kiss.

“I love You, I love you so much.” Reza's whisper in Galuh's ear, after releasing her lips. With their foreheads met, Reza rubbed Galuh's swollen lips.

Krruuk!

Reza lifted his face, looking at Galuh who grimaced as he rubbed his bellied stomach. The man realized, too focused on the sick oma until he forgot the state of Galuh.

“Yes God, I'm sorry yank. I've forgotten that you haven't eaten since.” Reza let go of his embrace and grabbed Galuh's shoulder. “We eat, baby.”

Galuh smiled back hugging her husband's waist. “Iya, I understand kok.”

Reza opened the package of food he bought, two servings of rice complete with grilled chicken and vegetables. They start eating and occasionally stare towards the oma bed.

After cleaning up the leftovers and taking a short break, there was a knock at the door. The nurse came to check on the condition of the oma that is still asleep.

“If the patient is awake, please try to eat first and give this medicine to drink.” His request to Galuh while giving a packet of medicine in his hand.

“Good, Sister. Thank you.”

“Sama-sama. Then, I'll excuse you first.”

An hour later, the oma was still asleep. His face looked calm, and his lips were like he was smiling. The oma breath also goes up and down regularly.

There was a slow knock at the door. Galuh who was sitting next to the oma turned to Reza, the man was sitting half-lying on the sofa.

“Abang?”

Reza straightened his body, turned to the door and walked over thinking the doctor was coming and was about to see the condition of his oman. “Please come in, Doctor.”

The door opened slowly, and Mahendra came in a wheelchair with a nurse.

“Papa?” Reza immediately took over pushing papa's wheelchair and the nurse waited by the door.

“Papa want to see the state of oma,” said papa with a hoarse voice, his eyes were fixed on the body of oma who was sleeping.

Galuh got up and pulled over, letting papa get closer. Papa's crying broke seeing oma's condition, “Excuse me, Mahen Ma. Sorry, Mahen is guilty of Mama.”
