If Tomorrow Never Come

If Tomorrow Never Come
Chapter 65. Severely ill

God's written destiny is the best thing in our lives, although sometimes the best is not always beautiful.

Galuh had the hardest time of his life. During her pregnancy, when other women are enjoying beautiful moments with their beloved family while waiting for the birth of the baby, she actually has to face the bitter reality of losing loved ones.

Not only that, Galuh also must remain strong and continue to try to look strong when her beloved husband struggles to survive the pain he has long suffered.

One week after the departure of the oma, the health of papa Mahendra declined drastically. Papa lost his life spirit, his soul was shaken. Papa is often seen sitting dreamy then suddenly crying sad.

Throughout the day papa spent more time in the room oma, and refused to eat. His mouth seemed clenched, only willing to drink it a little until Reza and Galuh were overwhelmed to persuade him.

Various ways Reza and Galuh for the sake of healing papa also to restore the spirit of his life. Reza also brought in the best specialist doctors who also put nurses who work specifically to care for and take care of papa's daily life. But papa has lost his passion.

From day to day papa's body is getting weaker, his legs suddenly difficult to move. In the end, he could not walk normally anymore and had to stay in a wheelchair.

Exactly a month after the departure of the oma, papa breathed his last. Like a person who was sound asleep, papa's face looked so calm. Papa goes after the oma like he promised while in the hospital, leaving deep sorrow for the people he left behind.

Reza was devastated, losing his beloved oma and papa in a very close period affected his health. Reza collapsed, and had to be hospitalized for almost a week.

Seven months later.

“Abang, we are in now yuk.” Galuh whispered in Reza's ear, kissed her cheek gently and put the scarf around her husband's neck.

The morning air around the villa of the Mahendra family retreat was cold plus the strong wind made Galuh shiver.

Reza nodded and patted Galuh's hand on his shoulder, raised his face for a moment and pulled the woman's nape back to peck her cheek. “How's our son doing today?”

“As usual, grow healthy and strong in the womb of his mother.” Galuh replied as he wrapped his arm around Reza's neck.

“You must be tired all day to go back and forth to take me around our house,” said Reza rubbed back Galuh's arms, although his stomach was getting bigger but Galuh did not seem to have trouble walking. He pushed Reza's wheelchair slowly towards the villa again.

Galuh paused for a moment, shaking his head trying to hold back his tears. The skinny hand that rubbed his arm was placed on his cheek. She stood behind Reza, so her husband would not see her eyes begin to dew.

“No, Brother. I'm not tired, besides I also have to move a lot so that later smoothly during childbirth.” Galuh answered rasping.

“I'd love to be next to you and see our son born,” said Reza turned heartily.

“I also wish you were near me, holding my hand. Gives me strength,” Galuh replied in a hoarse voice. “I Love You, Brother.”

Reza laughed, “Have I said the same to you today that I love you so much and want us to continue together?”

“Already, this is the eighth time.” Galuh spread her hands over Reza's shoulders and folded her two fingers inward, and Reza laughed again.

They arrive at the villa again, Galuh memapah Reza into the room but Reza refused. “I want to rest in the upper room.”

“Abang has to go up the stairs, later Brother tired. Better to rest in this room alone,” persuaded Galuh, but Reza shook his head.

“If only go up stairs I'm still strong, yank.”

Reza shook his head again, “You can't go back and forth up the stairs, dangerous for both of you.”

And Galuh finally relented, letting Reza climb slowly on her own while keeping a close eye on her from below. And only able to breathe a sigh of relief when she saw her husband had reached the top rungs.

A few hours later.

Galuh took a breath, looking up at the staircase leading to the upper room where her husband was. Half in doubt he stopped at the first rung of the stairs, remembering the words of Reza who forbade him from going up there.

During his time in the villa, Reza occasionally did rest in the upper room and forbid Galuh to follow him there because he did not want to endanger the safety of Galuh as well as the baby in the womb.

The age of the womb has entered the ninth month, just to count the days he will soon give birth. And for some reason, that afternoon Galuh was eager to go up to the upper room and see her husband there.

Galuh chose to take the risk of receiving Reza's anger at him, rather than fretting because his heart was overwhelmed with worry seeing Reza's unusual attitude. The man should have come down from there, but by late afternoon he was still in the upper room.

“Healthy keep yes, son. We see your papa above the same Mama,” whispered softly while rubbing her protruding stomach.

Slowly Galuh stepped up, he held on to the edge of the stairs and stopped a few times just to catch his breath until shortly afterwards he reached the door of Reza's room on the top floor.

Slowly Galuh opened the door and pushed slowly so as not to cause a sound that surprised the occupants of the room.

Galuh looked up at the bed and smiled to find her husband still asleep, lying on his side with his back to his back.

“Abang,” call Galuh, but no answer.

Galuh walked closer, he climbed into the bed and sat on his back on the large pillow behind him while straightening his legs next to Reza.

He touched Reza's shoulder gently, then rubbed his hair that began to thin because he had to undergo treatment of pain he suffered. But the man shook his head and stayed with his original position.

“Abang,” call Galuh again, this time with a higher tone of voice. But Reza still did not move.

Anxious, Galuh flips Reza's body to face her. And what he saw made Galuh surprised and screamed in disbelief. “Yes God, Abaaang!”

Reza's face looked pale, his lips tightly clenched and from his nose came fresh blood dripping and wetting the shirt he wore. With trembling hands, Galuh wiped the blood under Reza's nose with the tip of his sleeve.

At the same time Galuh's stomach tightened, he grimaced with pain while tightening his teeth with both hands still holding Reza's head in his lap.

No tears on her cheeks, she realized her husband was very sick. It's not the first time Galuh has seen Reza's nose bleed fresh, but Galuh panics every time it happens. Moreover, her husband was like he was unconscious.

“Abang wake up, don't be like this. Brother must accompany Me, I do not want to be alone ngadepin all this,” Galuh said while sobbing.

While holding his urge, Galuh tried to take a deep breath trying to act calmer even though he was not sure he would be able to do so.

Galuh pressed a button on the wall connected to the phone downstairs, a second later the sound of the villa's housekeeper answering his call. Galuh told the driver to immediately go upstairs and help her take Reza to the hospital.
