Chapter 10: Container

Krraha!

The air shook over that roar. The overwhelming intimidation that Light had never felt was on him.

Hundreds of frothy mouths, many of their consciousnesses were snatched away with terrified facial expressions.

Not only does it have a special effect on Light. Many of the Arcadia warriors who were around Light fainted from being unable to withstand Cartias' intimidation. If they re-awaken, maybe some of them will not have the same mental as before.

Many people around Light had fallen sprawled. Light who was still standing alone as if being the center point showed that he was the person with the strongest mentality.

Cartias' gaze became sharp, he knew that if the boy in black uniform without the armor still standing it should not be underestimated at all. With just that, Light proved to be a true noble figure with mana contained in his blood.

CRASSH!

The air space right in front of the two was clawed by Cartias' right hand. Although not once understood, but from the claw, three slashes emerged from the void. Darting towards Light seemed to cut through the space between them.

With incredible reflexes, Light used his full strength to dodge the attack, "Kuh!"

BLAARS!

BLAARS!

The ground where Light had just stood was shattered into pieces. Cartias was amazed, he had never seen someone capable of surviving while dodging his attacks.

Stamina and duration of use.

Light has limits in using his abilities. The conversion of mana to activate a magic had a huge difference when compared to the use of mana directly like the ability that Light had.

Activation of a magic requires a lot of mana because the conversion process is very wasteful and inefficient. However, it is comparable to stamina that can be maintained because the body load is not so heavy and the amount of output produced.

A pure-blooded noble can actually cast magic with incredible power. As an example for fire magic, he could create a sea of fire or a gigantic fireball whose power could not be compared at all with the output that mixed blood produced, such as the blood of someone from a branch family, or even a branch family, a family of knights, or commoners who were born with fathers who possessed magic power.

However, it was different from what Light used. Despite being born as a pure descendant because his father was a pure noble and his mother who was a descendant who had the purest blood of the Renesse Family, one of the founding families of the empire, Light did not possess any decent skills like the nobles in general.

The mana quantity was too small, it was impossible for him to activate a magic or spell. To that end, Light learned to use the mana directly and compress it until it is very dense.

This process has some shortcomings. Body stamina will be quickly drained because the body load when using the skill is very heavy. Not comparable to the burden borne when using magic as in general.

Because of this, Light is unlikely to fight an opponent who is worth it or who is stronger than him for a long time. His body would only scream from the excruciating pain as he forced himself to continue fighting.

Light reabsorbs the mana it emits. His victory condition would only be achieved when he was able to stall for time while waiting to use his skill at the right time.

Looking at the tattered Light, Cartias smiled sumringah. His vigilance loosened slightly as he judged that Light was not a figure with such extraordinary strength as what he had imagined.

"No attacking?" Light chooses silence over Cartias' provocation, "If that's what you want, I'll come to you!"

Cartias jumps. Its speed is barely discernible by the senses.

CRASHES!

"Well?!" Instantly, Cartias' hand had been right in front of Light. The wind knife that had been caused by Cartias' attack almost touched his forehead.

A BLAR!

A BLAR!

Light did not stop jumping to dodge. Cartias who had incredible stamina attacked without pause. The wind blades destroyed the surrounding area, Cartias as if he no longer cared for the surrounding Arcadia warriors who were late to escape from the battlefield.

A BWOSSH!

One incredible pressurized wind blade came with certainty. It was impossible for Light to avoid it due to its enormous shape compared to Cartias' other attacks.

Moreover, there was a chance that Light would be unable to dodge Cartias's follow-up attacks if he looked for a gap to dodge.

Once again, the blue aura silver sword that flowed where it was unsheathed. Light slashed through the empty space in front of him, intending to split the wind blade that came at him.

CLASH!

BLAARR!

The Cartias attack can neatly split in two. The area next to Light shattered out of shape as it was unable to withstand the impact of the Cartias wind blade.

Light decided to attack. Mana flowed throughout the body, strengthening Light's physique for the next few seconds.

CRASHES!

Light appears right behind Cartias. A slightly late reflex, the bluish sword slashed at the back of the heaviest werelion.

A BLAR!

A BLAR!

Cartias bounced away. Hit the trees and rocks in the forest. A straight line was formed as a strong impact of the attack that Light gave to Cartias.

Krraaah!

TRANGS!

Cartias immediately appeared right in front of Light, attacking with his claws directly to hit his enemy.

Only with a stalk, Cartias' strength was defeated by momentum. Cartias used both hands in turn to launch a series of attacks on Light.

Whyyy?!

Whyyy?!

Whyyy?!

Why is he able to easily dodge every single one of my attacks?!

Moreover, he had only used that strange aura a few times!

Are you actually underestimating me?!

Cartias' biggest weakness was his extremely rude and predictable movements after experiencing some of his attacks head-on. Light knew and sensed that, he only dodged to conserve his strength and occasionally attacked.

However, unlike Cartias, whatever movement Light made was always able to scratch Cartias' body.

Light's disparaging movements were misunderstood by Cartias. Cartias' frustration escalated every time he launched an attack.

"Do you know why this happened?" Light provoked Cartias' anger as they exchanged attacks.

"Well?!" Cartias still doesn't understand.

Light revealed a disdainful smile, "Do you know the reason people who are actually weaker than you have comparable strength when fighting with you?"

The frustration was mounting, Cartias was unable to hold himself back and attacked more and more blindly.

"Don't underestimate me, Shiaan!"

BLAARS!

A final attack so brutal had just been launched, Light was able to dodge it with minimal movements that further ignited Cartias' emotions. Light retraced on the shattered ground and prepared to dodge the next attack.

But Cartias stopped to attack. Just standing in the middle of a plain that was no longer shaped, Cartias cast a spell that Light knew nothing about.

"Stop, Idiot! What do you want to do?!" Arrend moved closer, but his words were completely unheard by Cartias.

The ground once again shook, the air was affected by the strange pressure that Cartias let out. Just then, a magic circle appeared, enlarging under Cartias' feet followed by a strange reddish aura descending from the sky, as if blessing Cartias who was casting a spell.

Arrend approached Cartias with a panicked face. He did not expect Cartias to be ignited by his emotions and use forbidden magic.

Although Arrend struggled to get close, the red aura enveloping his subordinates seemed to prevent him from approaching.

"Buck! This place will be destroyed! Get out of here for your own safety!" Arrend shouted, as if he no longer cared about friends or enemies.

"What exactly is he doing?" ask Light.

"Well! I warned you!" Judging that the Cartias ritual could no longer be stopped, Arrend retreated and moved away from the battleground between Light and Cartias.

Taps.

"Where are you going, Your Highness General Arrend Leucs?"

Just then, a red-eyed man with long ears emerged from the darkness right behind Arrend and held his shoulders.

"Damn!" Arrend jumped while pulling his long spear, he fired a high-level fire magic at the man holding it.

A BLAR!

But that doesn't have any effect. The man was still standing in his original place even though the area around him was shapelessly shattered.

Arrend was speechless, surprised at his unsuccessful attack. At the same time, the man pointed his hand at Arrend.

The red liquid emerged from the ground floor forming a long thread and bound Arrend's body. Instantly, Arrend's consciousness faded. Many bats came to his body to suck all the blood he had.

"Magic Cancellor, is it?"

"Oh, I'm surprised you know that, boy." The man looked at Light with a carefree face.

"Just like me, I didn't expect vampires to be behind Arcadia." Light gave a smile.

"Ah, apologize for my rudeness. Please introduce, my name is Marc, Third Division Head of the Demon King Army." Marc bowed lightly, his face smiling kindly as if the previous horrible sight had not bothered him at all.

"Light Allain, Head of the Northern Border Garrison of the Corthia Empire." Light gave the same attitude as Marc.

"Please don't misunderstand something. My presence here is completely unrelated to the wars involving the empire and the Kingdom of Arcadia" Marc replied in regret.

"Of course, it was because the empire could easily destroy the demon lord if His Majesty the Emperor wanted it." Light gave provocation.

Marc only smiled in response, it showed the truth to the words that Light had spoken.

"Because my business in this place has been completed, I apologize, I resigned myself first." Marc bowed respectfully, disappearing from where he stood without leaving any marks.

Along with Marc's departure, an instant loud shout could be heard everywhere. Light looked at the state of the entire border plain.

The battle ended in chaos. The atmosphere of the sky grew increasingly tense. The dark clouds were increasingly thickened, covering the vastness of space and moving around like a vortex.

Thousands of goblins, orcs, as well as demon wolves came from the depths of the forest. Not distinguishing the living or the corpses, the monsters only saw tens of thousands of Arcadia warriors as food. Some orges and cyclops can also be seen. They took hundreds of soldiers and ate them alive.

However, the biggest problem came right before his eyes. Immediately, the magic circle that was just below Cartias' feet gave rise to a black fog, spreading across the surrounding area to make Light retreat to keep his distance.

BWOOSSHH!

Along with the scattering of mist, a red aura seemed to lift up into the sky, forming a special path of redness that connected directly with the center of the cloud vortex.

The red sky dripped a drop of liquid like a blood clot. It fell right over Cartias' wide gaping mouth.

Tests.

BLAAARRR!

The ground was once again smashed into pieces. Light crashed, pushed back to hit some large rocks created from the ground that was no longer formed.

"Haha.haha!" Light felt pain, but he had no time to think. Because right in front of his eyes, although still hidden behind the black fog whose thickness is increasingly eroded, Light understood that a disaster creature had been summoned from hell.

THE GRRAOOOOOOO!

"Although I already knew if I didn't have a chance to win against Arrend after defeating his subordinates, but still..."

With an expression of disbelief, there was a forced laugh, Light did not expect that Marc would leave by leaving something extra that was very troublesome.
