"Um... mo—please forgive me, Sir..." The cat beastman girl, Selka, served a few bowls of warm soup and bread to Light with a wave of fear.
"Yes, what is it?" As much as possible, Light did not want to cause unnecessary trouble. She responded to Selka kindly, a smile always appearing on her face as she interacted with Selka and the couple of innkeepers.
"Are you... really a student of the imperial Academy?"
"Selka! What are you doing?!" The middle-aged woman around her mid-forties panicked as she stepped in from the inn kitchen which was right at the end of the dining hall.
The woman presses Selka's head to make her bow, just like she did for fear that Selka's attitude is disrespectful.
"Mo—please forgive us, Young Master. It seems like the servant has a deficiency in educating him."
Light again painted a friendly smile, "It's okay, I'm not at all disturbed."
"Te—thank you, Young Master. Excuse me!" The middle-aged woman of the innkeeper pulled Selka back into the kitchen to scold her.
After finishing his breakfast, Light picked up a leather bag and rushed towards the academy. The trading district where the Crescent Moon Inn is located is a considerable distance away, perhaps almost a 40-minute walk away with the average speed of the capital city people who are mostly agile in moving.
The sun has risen, the morning sunshine feels warm stinging. A few moments had passed, bit by bit the students of the academy were seen around, more and more as Light had been close to the academy's gate.
Each of them stared at Light full of curiosity. Given that the life of the Light academy before getting a military achievement was filled with gloomy days, none of them had the courage to say hello.
Other than the reason for the seniority relationship where Light was a last year student, none of them had an origin house close to Allain's house.
Light himself realized that. The aloof habits he had been doing for years made him uncomfortable when he was noticed by the crowd.
Uh. I want this to be over soon.
Light speeded up his footsteps naturally, he entered the lobby and headed for his class which was a bit away from the school gate.
"During the day, Light! How are you?"
"Tell me your story while leading a small army against hundreds of thousands of Arcadia soldiers, Light!"
"Light, did you attract one of the knight orders to become one of them after yesterday's war?!"
"What are you going to do after this, Light? Will you inherit your father's title?"
One by one, the students of S class came at Light like ants. Not only because of a sincere remark, many of them tried to curry favor with Light for their own benefit.
That is undeniable. After all, Light's name skyrocketed after rumors spread that he had defeated tens of thousands of Arcadia soldiers with just a small army. Moreover, the rumor was not at all refuted by the supreme general of the empire, Gilbert Lawrence, although he also did not justify it.
"Uh..." Light looks troubled. She is not very good at socializing because from the beginning she has been shunned by her classmates.
"Pathetic." With just a sharp word revealed by a girl, the classroom atmosphere seemed to freeze, "I don't think the dignity of the imperial nobility has fallen to this low."
The girl remained seated in her chair, surrounded by noble girls who were her direct followers.
The white uniform that the girl was wearing was tight, but did not form a chest at all, much different from the other girls who stood out. His long white hair was combed straight, partly braided near his right ear.
The war is full of authority. Her movements were so graceful, very supportive of her extraordinarily beautiful face.
All students agree, Selene is the best student the academy has this year in any field. Expert swordsmanship, martial arts, magic, to strategy, not a single student is able to compete with his abilities, even if juxtaposed with his own half-brother, the Second Prince of the Corthia Empire, Arthur Rapha Nouvelle.
The red-haired prince with a cross earring in his right ear who was in the other corner of the class did not say a word, as if he did not care for Light's existence which now had little political influence.
"That's a pity, Your Majesty."
"I hope the kids go back to their house and repeat their manners lessons."
The two girls who were followers of Selene sitting side by side added embers into the blazing fire. However, the students' praise for Light no longer continued. Each chose to return to his seat and prepare for the class.
Light is momentarily confused, but he gets a sign from one of Selene's followers to get closer.
"Thank you very much, Your Highness the Princess." Light looked down deeply, the Selene followers who were looking smiled in satisfaction.
Not only were they complacent about successfully trampling the noble children who came from the house who disliked the Nouvelle Family and its faction, he said, that satisfaction also came from Light humbling himself before them.
On the other hand, Selene gave no response. He never once ignored Light and continued to read his book.
"Please excuse me." Light once again lowered his head, towards his stool which was at the end of the room.
Today's class was boring. There was not a single piece of material that Light could benefit from. It was quite natural considering that the graduation exam had taken place shortly before Light was sent back to his home to fight.
The sign of time had rung, a fairly boring class had finally ended. Light picked up his leather bag, he hurried to leave the room before his classmates approached him again.
Light heads to the library that became his favorite place in the academy to be alone. Unlike the libraries of other schools that were also sheltered under imperial rule, the library of this academy was located in a special building, which was, buildings of historical value that had even stood before the great war hundreds of years ago.
The gold-painted building that had faded away had a gothic atmosphere. Many statues of demons and various other races that show history stand right on the corners of buildings and roofs.
People of the earth would probably see it as a typical relic of eastern Europe. Its revitalized twin doors and added magic technology opened when Light was about to enter.
"I thought you were dead on the battlefield, Light." The half-joked sentence that came from the middle-aged woman of the library guard welcomed the arrival of Light who was a permanent visitor of the library.
Amelia, or so the people called out the name of the library guard lady who was the daughter of a fallen noble. Her hair was long, and she had boxed glasses that she wore on her face.
However, most of the men who visited the library did not come because they needed the information in the book, but because of Amelia's round chest that poked out from the small crack of the black robe that became the uniform of the library guard.
Towards Light who she already thought of as her own sister, Amelia revealed a smile that looked ravishing to other men.
"I want my last book I haven't finished yet." Light did not suppress Amelia's temptation, his eyes were turned in another direction to avoid her chest.
Amelia gave the book with a special barrier in the middle of it, "Here, I'm keeping it for you."
"Thank you..." Light was about to fall by Amelia's smile, she rushed off towards the second floor reading table which was very minimal noise.
After all, Light expected at least Amelia to realize that her appearance was very disturbing to the men.
