Irregular Curved
Chapter 6: The Wise

"Young Master, not a single scout squad returned."

The atmosphere of the room was instantly silent. No one is not surprised by the arrival of Arcadia earlier than expected.

Light took a deep breath, trying to calm himself from the panic. Luckily, all preparations for the defense war had been completed. However, Light understood, just that preparation was not enough to win the war against the tens of thousands of Arcadia Soldiers.

"They arrived." Light got up from his desk chair. His gaze was straight, a sign when Light did not play around with his words, "Gennes, go to the barracks and prepare a team. Eld, the entire construction company is under your coordination, order them all to prepare in their respective places and report to me if they have any obstacles that they cannot solve on their own."

"Yes, Master!" The two old officers behaved respectfully by raising his right hand and sticking it on the temple. Soon, the two left the room at a quick pace.

"Now..." Light smiled kindly to the two maidservants standing by the window, sitting back comfortably as if his previous atmosphere was a lie.

Light picked up a cup of tea and sipped it elegantly. While his throat was passed by the tea that still felt warm, his gaze could not be separated from the two maids who each had no expression.

"Ah, this is really delicious. Especially if there's no 'additional' in it." I sat one of the two servants standing.

The long blonde waitress immediately sweated profusely. He was confused, did Light know the truth when he poured poison on his tea?

No, it's impossible.

As said, the poison does not cause odors and aromas in tea or food added. He even checked it with his own nose. Moreover, there were no eyewitnesses as he poured "additional" on the tea set that was served to Light a moment ago.

The waiter immediately acted calm. He believes his crime is unknown. For that, his expression returned to how it was, waiting for the reaction that would occur to Light who was sitting in his chair while taking care of some documents.

Five, ten. twenty minutes have passed. Light did not experience any strangeness, slightly deviating from what had been planned. Garnet's safety guarantee for the servant was that the executor could immediately escape right after making sure Light fell, as it was a point of certainty where Light's death occurred.

Until it reached thirty minutes, sweat began to pour from the body of the maid. Seeing his behavior, the other servant standing next to him was worried.

"Are you okay, Rie?" The waiter beside him stared worriedly, he whispered as he sensed the unnatural state of his co-worker, "I'll ask Master for permission to rest for a while."

"Ti—it's okay... Please don't do that." The blonde maid gave a calm smile, "Relieve me, I'm actually fine..."

"If you need my help, just give me a sign. I'll ask Master for permission" replied the waiter beside him.

"Thank you for your concern, Ena."

An hour had passed since Light sipped his tea. Nothing happened to him, that was the reason Rie was currently so scared.

Of course, Garnet would give inhumane punishment to him. A result of his unresolved duties. Moreover, his worry also stems from the possibility of Light knowing that he was the culprit who poured poison on his tea.

"What happened to you? I saw you acting strange... Rie?" Light turned his gaze as if worried, but one corner of his lips faintly rose, as if he was mocking Rie.

"Thank you for worrying and remembering our names, sir." Ena bowed and immediately followed Rie frantically, "I agree with you too."

"Ti—no, no! I'm really fine!" Rie refuted in panic.

"So, just tell me if you have a problem. I'm not a cruel master who doesn't care at all about the condition of his subordinates." Light said that as if having fun seeing Rie's reaction.

"We are honored." Ena bowed deeply, Rie followed him with a slight delay.

Crowds could be heard from behind the window. The chaotic atmosphere that occurs is a sign that the team is preparing a defense strategy.

Hearing that, Light smiled. Before he got out of his seat, he opened the safe under his desk.

"Uhuk! Uhuk!"

Instantly, the room was filled with a foul smell. In contrast to Rie, Ena was completely unable to resist the smell.

"It's time, please clean this room while I'm gone." Light moved towards the exit, the two maids were fixated on his initial position. They were unable to move before Light left the room.

The door opened, but Light still held back his steps before coming out of the room, "I understand your position as only a low-caste servant. I know you can't refuse his orders, can you?"

Both of Rie's eyes opened wide, leaving Ena who was still confused by the situation.

Rie immediately understood, the sentence showed that Light gave a helping hand. One last chance for one trust that has been broken.

Rie knew that all her decay was known to Light.

Both corners of Rie's eyes were dripping with water, as she fell to her knees and shouted out a plea for forgiveness, "Master! Please forgive sa—"

But Light doesn't care. He moved leaving the room indifferent.

Ena, who is confused by the situation, intends to take care of Rie who is in a strange state. However, the stench from Light's desk was unbearable to him.

Ena approached Light's desk. There was a safe that gave off a very foul smell. However, both of Ena's eyes immediately opened wide, he unconsciously jumped back because he was very surprised by the contents of the safe.

Yes, not only the head of Garnet, but also all the heads that became the brains of Light's murder.

"Ri—Rie!" Ena screamed in panic, but Rie did not respond.

Rie prostrated in fear. All his senses were blunt as Ena shouted out to him.

Walking down the hallway without the typical decoration of the building within the defensive fort, Light showed an amused face. Somehow, she had a pleasant feeling as she teased Rie a moment ago.

"Abigail."

Light's steps stopped. The figure of a kneeling lizard instantly appeared on one side of the passageway. Looking at him, a terrifying smile was once again painted on Light's face.

"Your command, my lord."

In his solitude, Light read as many books as he could. Not a single person was watching him, Light had read books in every source of books he could find.

Allain Castle Library, the academy library, to the shabby bookshop located in the narrow alley of the imperial capital.

Light learns of Abigail's special abilities after she observes the strange complexion she has on her body.

One species of lizardman has a recessive gene in which it has a special ability that is not possessed by another dominant gene, Mimikri.

If it was Light who was a pure noble with the blood of a witch flowing in his veins, he could easily find the invisible Abigail by tracking down her magic, although Light did not have as much mana as the nobles in general.

However, that was not the case for commoners and magicians born from ordinary knight families. Such was the difference between commoners, knights, and nobles in magic and special abilities.

Abigail from the beginning was unable to use her power due to the slave seal. Light overrides the slave seal with a special covenant capable of allowing Abigail to exert all her abilities. Of course, Light prioritized his safety when overwriting his slave seal with the agreement.

I'm different from you, Dad, Cole.

I won't shed blood for no reason.

Look, I will definitely win this war.
