"Alhamdulillah," said Sarifuddin after hearing Islam recite his prayer recitation.
"Is it not yet?" ask Islam.
Islam was already squatting with an expression of joy. His intention wanted to jump but he was waiting for an answer from Sarifuddin.
"Already," he answered.
"Thank God, O God!!!" shouts Islam who happily jumps around like a monkey.
Sarifuddin laughed with his head moving following the Islamic leap, up and down.
Sarifuddin was happy and honestly he did not expect that Islam would be this happy. When he was good at memorizing prayer readings he was never as happy as Islam which expressed his happiness like this.
"Don't you think, Din?"
"Iye really where have I lied."
Islam laughs. "Yes, Din. I believe in you."
Now Islam is silent and then steps to the front window of the room. He lifted his waist and smiled.
Sarifuddin shook his head as Islam repeated the prayer from beginning to end and shouted again.
"Hahahaha, it's not in vain that I'm staying up!!!" his yell.
"And I have said that being lived with effort will definitely be easy," said Sarifuddin.
Islam turned his head then stepped closer to Sarifuddin and knelt in front of him.
"Din! Can I be a priest now?" ask Islam.
"No, yet" he answered.
The smile of Islam vanished from his lips, if not Sarifuddin who made him able to memorize the prayer reading maybe he had strangled the man with this slanted scab.
"The real dong? I can't be a prayer priest?"
"Well, I said not yet. If you want to be the imam of the mosque then you have to be able to teach" he explained.
Islam waved in wonder.
"But the imam does not take the Qur'an."
"That is not the Qur'an, but the Qur'an."
Islam silent. Both his eyes moved left and right, as Sarifuddin said.
"So what should it be now?"
"Learn to read the Qur'an."
"Well, I have to study again. When I was a kid, I learned the present learning again" he protested.
"So you can still read the Qur'an?"
Islam silent.
"No," he replied, shaking his head.
"That's why I'm learning again." Point at.
Islam let out a long sigh and laid his body on Sarifuddin's bed and his eyes stared at the ceiling of the room.
"Think what the hell?" ask Sarifuddin.
Islam watched.
"Wouldn't you?"
"It can do it if you try."
"If you still can't?"
Sarifuddin took off his pecans and wiped the sweat on his forehead. Talking to Islam requires patience.
"Lam, no effort comes to an end."
"If today we relax and do not want to learn then later we will run while crying because we used to not want to learn" he explained.
Islam is back. That is true, Sarifuddin said.
Islam rose with a long breath. He paused for a moment and looked back at Sarifuddin.
"Well, I want to learn" the break made Sarifuddin smile.
"It's so dong."
"But learning is the same, right?"
"No," he replied, shaking his head.
The smile of Islam disappeared from his lips.
"Well, who do I keep learning?" ask Islam.
...***...
"That!" Appointing Sarifuddin towards the wooden hut like a kamling post makes the two eyes of Islam rounded.
Islam can see from a distance Rahman who is teaching girls and boys to learn to teach. Rahman is seen pointing at the blackboard while mentioning the hijaiyah letters that he has written with markers.
"Just what a dong!"
"Why?"
"Well, when did I study with Rahman? It's dong lo!"
"Well, why? Ustad Rahman is a good Qur'an."
"Well, but you think dong! When I asked my rivals to teach me to read the Qur'an."
Islam poked his lips then stepped away leaving Sarifuddin who was gawking at the confused look at Islam.
What's wrong with trying?
"Islam!" call Sarifuddin who quickly grabbed the wrist of Islam made the move of Islam stopped.
"What else?" the upset.
"Lo crazy huh? Did I study with Rahman? Heh! rahman is my rival. Dong prestige!" his chatter then stepped back to make Sarifuddin follow like a kitten.
"But this is for good, Islam."
"There is no good if it is a matter of self-esteem" he said.
Sarifuddin's step stopped making Islam who was still stepping it slowed his pace.
Islam stopped his steps and then he looked.
"Lo why stop?" ask Islam.
"That!" Appointing Sarifuddin to the back of Islam made him frown in confusion.
"What the hell?" islam does not understand.
"Dog" whispered Sarifuddin then ran making both eyes of Islam glare.
"Who is it?!!" shout Islam.
"After!!!" shouted Sarifuddin who was still berlsri.
As if struck by lightning Islam heard him make his lungs for now stop receiving air from outside.
Will the events that were once again happen again?
Chased dog?
"Yahoo!!!" islam shouted accompanied by the sound of barking dogs who were still chasing him behind there.
The villagers who saw Islam and Sarifuddin running seemed silent as if watching a children's race.
Even worse was that one of the villagers was the man who was chopping wood with the axe turned his head as Islam, Sarifuddin and the two dogs passed in front of him, after that, he resumed his activities.
Here it is common to be chased by dogs so well this scene has often happened.
Islam tried to regulate his shortness of breath after running, his chest felt locked tightly plus his heart that pumped his blood so fast.
Sarifuddin closed the fence and stepped back away from the two dogs barking in front of the fence.
"Lo crazy. Brazen, you may run away me," he chatted with annoyance, if Sarifuddin is not his roommate he might have thrown him out of the fence and let him be bitten by two dogs.
"Well, I know that the dog is coming again."
Islam swallowed its salivary. The dog is gone.
"Lo too, I've said no need to go outside the pesantren but you say what 'It's okay, this is not long' nih what the evidence is almost just a dijilatin just like a dog."
"It is not licked, bitten," Sarifuddin said.
"Just like a fool."
Islam stepped over while rubbing his wet forehead.
"Where to fast again, dry my throat" he lamented.
Sarifuddin scratched his sweaty neck and followed the steps of Islam who walked towards the room.
"Bad angry?" ask Sarifuddin.
Islam turned to look at Sarifuddin who immediately smiled showing his white teeth neatly arranged.
Islam turned back and continued its steps. Look at this slanted guy who doesn't seem to have the slightest problem even until he is almost bitten by a dog he can still smile widely.
Islam stopped his steps when he was ready to open the entrance while holding the door algae.
"Din, why don't you just read the Qur'an?"
"I?" He pointed it towards his nose.
Islam nodded.
"But why should I?"
"Because you are my best friend who is good at reading the Qur'an. If not you, who else can help me?"
Sarifuddin.
"Help me, huh? Come on, you're my best friend" she said with a sweet smile.
Sarifuddin was wasting his breath short.
"The problem is if I teach you later we protest."
"What protest?"
"How to teach a bugis is hard."
"Hard?"
"We have never heard the story of Java and Bugis?"
Islam shakes. "Never heard of me, all I hear is Romeo and Juliet."
"Who is that?"
"There's my neighbor" he replied, laughing after seeing the face of Sarifuddin who was so innocent.
"So this way, there used to be a story of a group of children who want to learn to teach continue to come Javanese who became teachers."
"Continue?"
"One day he gave up because these children did not want to be arranged and after that asked the Bugis to become teachers. Want to know what the outcome is?"
"What?"
"One day the kids were good at teaching."
Islam smile.
"Good dong. You're a bugis, so let's teach me!"
Sarifuddin was silent for a moment and then he nodded.
"Well, when did you learn it?"
"Later tonight," he replied with a wry smile, a meaningful smile.
