Islam rewinds its sitting and leaning against the wall of the mosque after performing Islamic prayers in congregation and this time the atmosphere of the mosque is rather quiet because the santri and santriwati have been repatriated.
Islam who had been staring at Abah Habib who was talking on the pulpit turned his head after hearing the sound of crying next to him and it was the sound of Sarifuddin's cry.
"Lo why?"
"I'm sad, kasian."
"Sad why?"
"Tomorrow it is no longer fast."
Islam is surprised not to play. He looked at Sarifuddin with an unexpected look.
"What's? So tomorrow is no fasting?"
Sarifuddin nodded as he rubbed his wet cheeks.
"But why?"
"The fast is only 30 days, Lam and today it is 30 days."
Islam was silent with his sad face. How can fasting have been exhausted while still wanting to learn fasting. He still wants to feel the month of fasting, Islam does not want to separate from this month of happiness.
Islam rubbed his cheeks which were suddenly pierced by tears falling from both eyes.
Why does it feel so painful just because it parted with the fasting month. The sadness he never felt like this he had never felt before.
At first he did not care but why this time he cared so much about this farewell.
"Don't cry!" whispered Sarifuddin while stroking the back of Islam who cried a mouthful.
"Lo was crying too."
Sarifuddin rubbed his cheeks and looked at the tears in his palm.
"Cuman se..se...little."
...***...
The sound of the chant of the feast day was heard in the mosque toa when chanted by Akbar was so melodious.
Islam put a cell phone to his ear and was silent waiting for a phone answer.
"Hello."
The sound of the voice made Islam smile happily.
"Eye!" islam is like a child.
"Islam, Umi misses, son."
"Islam is also longing, Mi. Where's umi now?"
"Mom at home."
Islam cut his lips trying not to cry. Islam can hear the sound of a rose from the sea.
"When will Islam come home, son?"
"Islam does not know."
"Umi already cooked ketupat same rendang, it's the favorite cuisine of Islam."
"Yes, Islam will eat when Islam gets home."
"Islam, don't cry, Dad!"
"Yes." Yeah."
Islam rubbed his wet cheek and spoke at length.
...****...
Sarifuddin rubbed his father's tombstone while occasionally the back of his hand rubbed his wet cheek.
After speaking at length he finally got up and turned to look at Islam who was now leaning against the wall.
"Udah?"
Sarifuddin nodded after he arrived in the presence of Islam who was seen standing while folding both hands in front of the chest.
"Strong cry, you know. That was a time of crying."
"But we were crying too."
Islam blotted his lips. Damnit damnit! Sarifuddin recalled the incident when he caught her crying like a child while talking to Rose on the phone.
"Udahlah! Don't tell anyone!" whiskey Islam.
Now the two are walking on a field that looks vague. The atmosphere was so silent, there was only a faint sound heard.
"Now what are we doing, huh?"
"Nothing."
"What time is it? No parting time for the month of fasting?"
"Nothing, most of all are crying in the mosque because of the farewell of Ramadan."
Islam nodded, no wonder everyone was crying. Islam knows how sad it is to part with the month of fasting.
Islam stopped its steps and then looked ignorantly at Sarifuddin.
"Din!"
Sarifuddin.
"Why?"
"Wouldn't this night be different from last year?"
"What?"
Islam smiled then nodded with his ignorant face and...
"What is it burning?"
"Fire it!"
The firecrackers lit up and Islam quickly lifted it into the air until a loud noise was heard and produced colorful fireworks up there.
Dor!!!
"Astagfirullah!!!" shouted Abah Habib who gasped in shock from the top of his alphabet.
Abah Habib turned his head as he rubbed his thumping chest staring at the same surprised ustad.
"What's that sound?" ask Abah Habib.
Abah Habib ran out of the mosque along with the oustads who were so wide staring at the light of fire above.
Dor!!!
Abah Habib covered both ears while closing his eyes as the explosion sounded very loud.
Abah Habib and the Ustad looked up.
"Where's that attack from?" ask Abah Habib.
"That's firecracker. Well, that's Islam!"
Shuaib pointed to Islam who was smiling widely while holding firecracker algae beside Sarifuddin who looked grimacing in fear.
Akbar shook his head to look at what Islam was doing. For the first time anyone lit firecrackers inside the boarding school.
"Shuaib Ustad! Come down and tell Islam to stop!"
Shuaib nodded and immediately ran down the steps to approach Islam.
"A flashy bit again!" islam is impatient.
Sarifuddin lit a match with his fearful face until the sparklers type fireworks that lit produce sparks or blasts of fire that lit so beautifully.
"The fire!!!" the frightened Sarifuddin shouted.
Islam laughed then immediately ran in the field making the dark field decorated with beautiful sparks.
"Islam!!!" shuaib shouted but Islam did not hear it, Islam is cool with the fireworks.
Syuaib stepped closer to Sarifuddin who was seen smiling while lighting a match to the fireworks.
"Cari-"
Shuaib's remarks came to a halt as Sarifuddin thrust a small cardboard box filled with fireworks into Syuaib's arms staring in wonder.
Sarifuddin ran after Islam who was seen smiling widely and wiggling the fireworks algae produced a beautiful long light.
Bruaks
Sarifuddin's laughter vanished as his body lay on the ground after he tripped and fell to the ground.
Sarifuddin got back up and rubbed his chest that had hit the ground and not long ago Sarifuddin laughed again and ran back on the field.
"Passenger passing!!!"
Sarifuddin turned his head as Shuaib galloped past him holding two fireworks in his hand.
Akbar patted his eel and shook his head to see what Shuaib did, even Shuaib played there and heard the biggest voice of Shuaib.
"Islam!" call Umma Nur who stepped closer to Islam to make Islam look.
"What meda?"
"Corrent-"
Islam stopped its speech as it stared at Khadijah who was standing there.
"With playing, Umma. Umma want?"
Umma Nur was silent for a moment and hesitantly nodded, making Islam put fireworks into the right hand of Umma Nur.
"Let's explode."
"No, it's just lit up."
Umma Nur smiled widely as the fireworks lit up so beautifully.
"Well, that's pretty, son."
Islam smiled and then moved Umma Nur's hands to the left and right while hugging her from behind.
Akbar who was on the terrace of the mosque was seen shaking slowly with a long sigh. He looked to the left at Abah Habib who had vanished.
Akbar turned to the right and behind trying to find the figure of Abah Habib who was no longer visible.
Not long after the laughter of Abah Habib was heard making Akbar turn to look at Abah Habib who was playing fireworks down there along with others.
"Islam brings happiness" Akbir said, making Akbar turn his head.
"Newly this time someone dared to play firecrackers in the middle of the boarding house and make everyone laugh."
"And it was done by Islam, Anak antum," he continued, patting Akbar on the shoulder.
"Not ana but our child," said Akbar then embrace the shoulder of Akbar who smiled so happily.
The two looked up at the field where everyone was playing fireworks.
The atmosphere of the night that was originally silent is now beautiful with the sound of laughter along with the light of fireworks are so beautiful.
The night that was once always decorated with cries is now made in color by the presence of Islam.
Well, Islam. Perhaps you will not believe if Islam is like a colored rainbow that decorates in this boarding school.
Islam, who else could make everyone smile and laugh if not Islam?
