Legends of All Time
Chapter 19 - Legends of All Time

"Maybe ... 'Something' you've been looking for is God" I said.

"Do you believe in God?" ask Javier.

"What about you?" I asked back.

"I believe it, but I'm quite skeptical. I'm not the kind of person who can believe something based on trust alone. Therefore, I continued to explore Quantum Theory to find the answer" Javier replied.

"So, have you found him?" my many.

"I have indeed concluded that this world is controlled by 'Something' that we do not understand. I've also come to a conclusion about the existence of parallel worlds, which is enough to make me believe in other worlds, but it's all still not able to answer all my questions and doubts," javier said with a look that implied deep sadness.

"Why did you get that far?" I asked, while Drian and Angel who were standing next to me just fell silent.

Javier suddenly bowed and began to shed tears. The look on his face even described a deep sadness and regret.

With tears and a heartbreaking voice, Javier began to explain.

"I was born into a poor family who just ate everyday, we had a hard time. Once upon a time, I had a friend named Kirana. He's been very nice to me. When we were kids, we used to spend a lot of time playing together, and after growing up, we decided to get married-"

"Our married life is not easy. Just to just eat everyday, we had difficulty, even once, we had to starve for days. Even so, Kirana remained faithful to accompany me. To me, he is the greatest treasure I have ever had. For the sake of being able to make her happy, I was determined to achieve success. I began my first step by studying many books"

"For two years, despite having only the knowledge I gained from reading books, I tried to make my own discoveries. I keep trying and trying, but everything always ends in failure. I wanted to give up, but Kirana kept encouraging me and kept me going"

"Until the end, I managed to find an invention that allowed me to earn quite a lot of money. That way, we can finally start living a decent life"

"And not long after, Kirana finally conceived our first child. At that time we were very happy because we would finally have a baby"

"When the process of giving birth, Kirana's condition began to decline drastically. Doctors even said that it was impossible to continue the process of giving birth, but Kirana still insisted on continuing the birth process of our first child. Until in the end, Kirana and our first child .. they did not survive-"

"That really took me by storm. My world even seemed to be shattered. At that moment, I began to question God. Why did he take the most precious figure to me when I could finally make him happy? Why is God so cruel to me?"

Hearing what Javier said, me, Drian, and Angel were speechless. Angel did not even have the power to stem her tears.

"So, the reason why you've been studying Quantum Theory for the existence of God?" ask Drian.

"I just want to prove His existence .. If He really exists, where was He then? Why did He take my Kirana when I finally achieved success? If He knew that in the end people would suffer, why did He keep creating us? Does He not pity us? Doesn't He love us? I tried and tried to find the answer, but in the end .. I didn't even find it at all!" javier said with a soft voice accompanied by tears.

With my face down, I started talking.

"Javier, I'll tell you a story. Once upon a time, there was a boy named Gu who had a friend named Gi. They are true friends who love each other. Whatever they were even willing to do for each other, but one day, Gu suddenly killed the Gi. Why do you think Gu killed Gi?"

"Where could I answer that. You're telling me too short" Javier replied.

"That's the same question you've been asking all along. We all don't know how to describe God. The word 'God' we know all along is just a term we coined to refer to 'Something' that has power over everything. We don't really know what God is. We don't really know how God exists. We also do not really know the mindset of God. We may be able to use our minds and minds to second-guess the reason behind all His actions, but in the end."

Javier was silent for a moment, then asked, "Then, have you found an answer that will satisfy you?"

"Then, when I was five years old, my father died in an accident and my mother followed a year later due to illness. It really makes me feel bad. At that time, I also questioned the same thing as you asked. I protested. I hated Him. I wondered ... Why would he take my parents? But in the end .. I realized that it was part of life. I did lose my parents, but I also got a replacement, which is the villagers who always take care of me with affection."

Hearing my words, Drian and Angel just lowered their heads. They felt sad about what I had experienced.

I then added, "I don't know if the answer I found was enough to satisfy you or not, but I'll try to explain it"

"You were wondering why He created us, right? But what if we were the ones who chose that?"

"What do you mean?" ask Javier.

I also started explaining.

"Just think, where do we come from? We can live in this world because of the role of parents who gave birth to us into the world, as well as our parents. They can exist and live in this world thanks to the role of their parents who brought them into the world. You could say, it was our parents who made us live in this world-"

"This is just my thinking, regardless of the role of God, what if, directly or indirectly, we were the ones to choose for it? It is we, the human being, who have decided life to exist. If our ancestors, the first humans, had not chosen to preserve life, then we and all humans would never have existed."

"It's a vicious circle. Our ancestors could have chosen those choices because they had the impulse we commonly refer to as lust. Therefore, we cannot blame our ancestors" I replied.

"So it's God's fault?" ask Javier.

"We also cannot blame God because He has freed us to choose, between wanting to preserve life or not. Like I said before, it's a vicious circle" I replied.

"But God gives us lust which is a great encouragement to preserve life. Isn't that the same as God designed us to make that choice?" ask Javier.

"We are indeed given the encouragement to make that choice, but we are also given the useful sense to control that impulse" I replied.

"How can reason get us to control that impulse?" ask Javier.

"For example, you have a concern about what happens if you get married. You're gonna have a kid. Your son will have children, and your son's son will have children. Two lives that start with you and your wife, can lead to tens, hundreds, or even thousands of lives in the future. On that basis, you also began to worry whether your grandchildren will live happily or not? Will your grandchildren suffer or not?"

"Because of those worries and fears, you finally decided not to get married and have no children. That's the role of reason I'm talking about. If you want, you can resist that impulse with your wits. It is one of the things that makes us, humans, far more special than any other creature on earth. In fact, if all men agree not to touch women, and vice versa, we can close the curtain on the history of human life, but unfortunately it is not possible. But isn't that enough to prove that all options are in our hands?"

"So, you want to say that God created us complete with choices we can make?" ask Javier.

"Yes ... basically, all the choices we make will have an impact on ourselves and even the world" I replied.

"But didn't He know everything and outlined our destiny from the beginning?" ask Javier.

"He did know everything and outlined our destiny from the beginning, but He did not rule or set our destiny. We are free to choose" I replied.

"How did that happen?" ask Javier.

"Imagine if a human was directly placed in Heaven, of course the human will be happy, right? But what if a human was directly placed in Hell? Wouldn't that man protest? Why was that human being placed in Hell? The man does not even know what he has done. Therefore, God put us into the world so that we know the choices we have made. That's what I call God knows, but He doesn't set our destiny. God outlines our destiny because He wants to prove to us that He knew everything from the beginning" I said.

"So you want to say that we live in this world just to prove to ourselves the choices we've made?" ask Javier.

"It's more or less like that I thought," I replied.

"Then what about Heaven and Hell? Why would such a place exist?" ask Javier.

"Heaven and Hell are there to uphold justice" I replied.

"Justice? Even a small mistake can be met with painful torment. How can this be called justice?" ask Javier.

I also started explaining.

"Javier, do you know? Life in this world is like a chain, where one small touch can move the whole set-"

"For example, one morning, there was a young man who stole a grandmother's money. It might be a small act, but have you ever thought about what the impact of that young man stealing Grandma's money would be?"

"Could have been, the grandmother apparently intended to use the money to pay for her grandson's school fees. Because now the money has been lost, the grandmother so can not pay the tuition of her grandson and make her granddaughter forced to drop out of school"

"If the man had not stolen the grandmother's money, the grandmother's granddaughter would have stayed in school, and it might have been far in the future, the granddaughter turned out to grow and develop into a very influential person in the world, a person who brought the world to an era filled with happiness and laughter. We never know, just maybe, that the little actions a person takes turn out to have a very big impact-"

"To establish a justice that even man will never know, for which Heaven and Hell exist."

After hearing my answer, Javier who previously looked sad, now became calmer.

"It's very impressive to talk to you. You're the first person who can impress me with your explanation" Javier said.

"So ... are you going to help us?" my many.

"Alright, I'll help you, but ...."

"Oh, come on, why have a tap!" grumbling.
