Mom, I Want School

Mom, I Want School
5. IT'S SCHOOL

After Ririn stopped crying we decided to sit on the embankment looking at the beautiful scenery at the end there. This afternoon the beautiful mountain is decorated with a vast expanse of rice fields and the sun looks timid to immerse itself there.

We sat lined up on the embankment facing our faces towards the beautiful scenery. I played my feet and paddled them feeling the air blowing around my toes.

"Ami's! why were you late to play?" ask Ami who looks at me.

"Today is the primary school registration I'm going to school."

"School?"

"School, you know, if I go to school. I'm already in 3rd grade Elementary School" said Angga who rose from the embankment and sat on a large rock.

"I also met Ririn and Cai. Today we enrolled in school together, didn't we?"

"Hem right," said Ririn and Cai compact.

Now that I was made speechless, friends my age had enrolled in school this year.

"Ari why don't you come to school?" ask Ami.

"Why come to school?"

"To register for school. Today is the day of enrollment and tomorrow is the last day of admission for new students don't you want to go to school?" ask Ami.

I was silent now I didn't know what to say. I turned to look at my friends who seemed to be waiting for an answer from me.

"You don't want school, do you?" asked Angga suspiciously.

"I want to go to school like you, too, but before I go to school and enroll, I want to ask you what it's like to go to school?"

"If the question is then only Angga knows because it is the first school among us," replied Ami who directly pointed towards Angga.

Angga immediately smiled proudly. He patted his chest while smiling arrogantly making us laugh. The appearance of Angga was so very funny as he boasted.

"Ehem, now listen to me so that you all get more excited to apply for school then I'll tell you what it's like to go to school."

Angga deflected his sitting position giving a sign that he was preparing to tell.

"School is good. The first time I enrolled in school I was so happy."

"I saw there was a tall building, a lot of kids who went to school there they were dressed neatly in the same color."

"They use nice shoes, hats, ties and a nice bag. They can also play there, I see there are a lot of people who play ball on a field that is made for us."

"Oh so we can play too? I thought we were going to school just to come."

"Not just come, but we'll be taught a lesson."

"Lesson? What lesson?"

"We will learn to read, write and count" he said, raising his fingers one by one.

"But before you go any further you want to hear the good or bad side of school?"

"Huh? Is there a good and bad side to school?"

"Of course there is. Want to hear something good?" bargain Angga that makes compact we nod each other.

"Now listen carefully!"

I turned my seat ready to listen to him.

"Not only from my class but I also got friends from various classes from 1st to 6th grade."

"There we were taught to read, write and count so now I'm good at reading, writing and counting."

I stared sparklingly at the figure of Angga turned out he was amazing. Reading, counting and writing seemed very difficult but Angga could do it.

"There not only are we told to learn but after the break we will play. I play a lot, I'll play ball with my friends at break."

"Not only that, every day I would get pocket money to buy food at school."

"Well, it turns out there's a salesman at school?" I didn't expect.

"Of course, I'm with 1,000 rupiah I can already get drinking water and crackers."

"More if we go into the library room, there are many books that we can read and we can also borrow them."

Again and again I was amazed by the thing called the school until a second later my forehead frowned and said, "What is the bad side of the school?"

"Well, if the bad side is maybe I won't tell you."

"Huh? Why?" sahut Ami was much more curious.

"Later if I tell you the bad side you all don't want to go to school."

Ami, Ririn and Cai compactly shook their heads. "We will still go to school" said Ririn who was so excited and trying to convince.

"Well, listen carefully!"

"The first bad side is the first one you'll wake up in the morning every day and only have one day that's Sunday to sleep all day."

"When you still want to sleep you have to be woken up by your parents to go to school."

"The worst is when it's Monday where we're going to ceremony."

"What is the ceremony?" ask me a curious

Honestly, I've never heard of it before. Angga took a deep breath, he thought for a moment and then replied, "I don't know what the purpose of the ceremony is but what I feel is tired."

"Tired? Why should I be tired?"

"Yes tired because in every morning we will be told to line up and not be allowed to sit. We'll also salute for 1 hour."

"Why pay respect?"

"For the flag, the red and white flag, the flag of Indonesia. I've heard it said the ceremony was to commemorate independence day."

"Oh yeah?" I was a little confused.

The goose frowned slightly confused. Nor does he understand his own answer. Whether this answer is true or not he doesn't care. Quite embarrassed if he says he doesn't know in front of his friends.

"Then the second we will get many tasks we have to do many tasks even we do not get time to play because it is given a task by the teacher."

"And the next thing is that it costs too much for example yesterday we had to bring plasticine to make a work and it was expensive anyway the school was very confusing you guys stay if you want to stay school or not."

Ririn, Amu and Cai were seen nodding while I looked speechless. It seems like school is not too bad and maybe I can ask my mother and father to enroll me in a school place like what my friends do.
