Chapter 20 MVILY
"When he knew I was a vampire, why did he run away so scared?" Arthur complains while waiting for Alice in the hospital.
Alice's voice sounded.
"You're sober?" arthur asked in a melodious tone as the woman woke up.
Alice awoke slowly, and was shocked to find herself lying on a bed. The eyeballs as blue as the perfect ocean stared upwards. Alice found a bright white ceiling with pink window curtains covering the room she was in.
"Al, you're awake, right?" ask Arthur.
The voice of a man that Alice faintly heard, began to sound clearer. Coupled with the drug rome that smelled stinging. The woman with a pale face turned her head, then found a man she knew was looking at her through the same pair of blue irises.
"Ah, thank goodness! I don't think you're gonna make it this time!" arthur exclaimed although low-pitched, but clearly implied worry mixed with pleasure and gratitude. Both of his eyes also looked teary.
"It's all because of you!" lirih Alice because she realized there must be someone who wants Arthur dead. However, he also did not understand why he even helped Arthur.
"If you've been complaining like that, I'm sure you've come to your senses, too" Arthur said.
"Why do you have to have so many enemies?" Alice looked at him sharply.
Arthur is still trying to digest the situation and what Alice is saying.
"Then why are you helping me?" ask Arthur.
Alice did not answer. He was also trying to digest even though there was one thing he clearly felt when his body was not as sick as before. His forehead bandaged, throbbing while enduring the pain.
An infusion stuck in the back of his left hand. By order of the doctor has given him painkillers so that it does not hurt as much as before. Alice had felt like her waist wanted to be broken due to a collision during an accident.
"What happened to you, why were you so scared when you saw me earlier, huh? Do you know who I really am?" ask Arthur again in a full tone to worry.
Arthur looked at Alice. The man helped Alice to sit down and lean on the cushion that was padded and already erected. He cleared his throat slowly, before trying to open his lips that felt tightly stuck to each other.
"I'm also confused as to why I'm helping you" he said.
"Then why were you afraid of me?"
"I'm sorry, yes" said Arthur.
Alice did not expect that Arthur would apologize to her.
"Wait a minute, I'll call the doctor. He should know that you're conscious."
Arthur opens the door to the room where Alice is being treated to go to the table where the nurses are. Shortly after, he returned.
"Please wait a minute" said Arthur, smiling kindly.
"Hmmm, thank you."
"The doctor will come and check on you soon. You know since we suspected Uncle Bernard, I asked Uncle Luke to investigate the car that hit you. I also hired a detective who talked to the police. He said they would investigate the cctv footage of the building around the road where the accident happened yesterday" he explained.
Alice only looked at Arthur flatly but in her heart she was grateful to find out that this man had once again saved her. Although it was about the death of his family who even wanted to make him hate Arthur.
"Thank you, yes, this is the second time you've helped me," Alice said.
"Second time?"
Arthur stared in disbelief. Even he checked his ear hole fearing there was dirt clogging to be sure. When had he ever saved Alice before?
"What did you say? This is the second time I've saved you?" arthur's asking convinced his hearing.
Alice nodded. While Arthur still stuck his net on the beautiful face of his palace maid. Deep in his heart, again he greatly admired the woman before him. She was grateful that the universe sent someone like Alice to fill the void of her heart. Arthur feels the same way he wants to protect and defend his family that has died. It's just that he's embarrassed to admit that he's in love with Alice.
