“You all right?” Adrian embraces Naomi's waist which now feels wider following the size of the enlarged stomach. He could see the radiance of grief from his wife's pair of eyeballs, although she was always able to hide well. Trying to look strong in everyone's eyes.
“I'm fine, mom is welcoming me,” she said lying.
The sharp highlight of Adrian then leads to the mother, who seems not to hesitate in the least to show how she does not want the presence of Naomi among them.
“Bu, please don't speak rudely towards my wife.”
Des@h long breaths accompany. The middle-aged woman cast a glance in any direction. It was as if Adrian's defense had disappointed him. “He really managed to influence you.”
“Naomi does not affect anyone. Why can't you accept Naomi like grandma?”
“Because I'm not stupid like you guys!” The woman's eyelids were slightly wider, flowing hatred through her gaze.
Making Adrian's hand move up and down rubbing next to his wife's arm. He knew behind Naomi's insistence there was a fragile figure.
“I know how Naomi.”
“Yes, of course. She's the comfort woman you made wife.”
“Enough, Mom!” Adrian almost snapped. Mother's words managed to erode her patience. “I've never fought mom, so don't force me to do it.”
“Adrian, open your eyes!” Mother's voice echoed in the silence of the night. Adrian can feel Naomi's body jerking a little. “Use your logic to see who this woman is. Are you sure the child in her stomach is your seed?”
A pair of Adrian's eyes closed with a long breath. If this isn't stopped soon, maybe he'll really yell at mom. “Honey, go to the room. Let me get you some drinking water.”
Without a word, Naomi nodded. Then turned his body up the stairs. Adrian takes his eyes off after Naomi disappears behind an upstairs wall.
“Bu, I don't like to discuss personal matters like this. But should I explain that I was the first man to touch Naomi?”
“You said so just to defend her, right?” he said with complete confidence. “Alright, if you are that sure. As soon as the child is born do a DNA test, and we see she's actually pregnant with your child or not.”
Out of words, Adrian can only shake his head. Several times he exhaled in order to break the anger that made his chest tight. Adrian was silent when my mother left him.
.
.
.
Adrian went into the room with a bottle of mineral water and a glass. His gaze swept around the dimly lit room. Naomi was not there, but a shadowy figure that fell on the balcony floor of the room made Adrian immediately move out.
“I'm sorry,” whisper gently while wrapping your hands around your stomach.
Adrian's wide hands moved upwards, stroking his wife's hair. He left a kiss there, before leading to the sofa. When Naomi close her body to the soft contest, Adrian chooses to squat in front of her.
“How about we just move? I'll buy a new house and take you away from here.”
“What's the reason?”
“I don't want mom to treat you like that. So I guess it's better to take you away from here.”
“Mom will hate me even more if we leave. What about grandma anyway?”
“Grandmother can come with us. I can't stand hearing anyone insult you.”
In dim lighting, Adrian can see a thin smile on the corner of Naomi's lips.
“I'm fine, really,” he said trying to calm down. “Dihina is no longer a problem for me. My life used to be a lot harder than just being insulted. At least, now I have you to lean on and it's already way above my standard of life expectancy. I used to not even have anyone to complain to.”
Can't stand it, Adrian clutching Naomi. Real tight. There is no distance between the two.
“I promise I'll look for your parents until found, and you won't feel alone anymore.”
“Are they alive?” ask Naomi. Adrian could read the hopeful radiance from his teary eyes.
“I don't know yet. But, just now my man gave me the news that they found information about your parents.”
The smile expands more and more perfectly on Naomi's face, and Adrian really likes to see it. However, something was troubling his mind.
“Can I say something?” adrian asked, followed by a nod of the head by Naomi afterwards.
"Can."
“I'm a little afraid you'll leave me once your parents are found. The clan of the Marx family will become extinct in my hands due to the loss of a mate to reproduce.”
"Just relax, reproducing isn't the only way to preserve life. Dodo birds are also extinct not because they are unable to reproduce, but because they are hunted by predators. Which predator would dare to hunt you, Mister?” naomi said at length.
Adrian's lips were clenched in order to hold back the laughter. "yes too. So ... is there any other way?”
“Of course there are. Amoeba does not even need a mate to breed.”
Adrian thinning lips gaunt. “So you mean I have to breed by splitting myself, so?”
