Chapter 23: NOT KNOWING

Flora was silent and then happy when she saw Krystal. She actually looked so beautiful that her head was already planning to make her a part of the family. How nice would it be if he married into his family?

Flora quickly hugs Krystal and drags her to where the family is. Krystal could only smile and pamper this friend of hers ever since she realized that she could not win against him.

"Ummm, you didn't stop to surprise this woman K. You look beautiful today," Annie praised Krystal with a sincere smile.

He could not help but feel envious towards this young girl. She knew that the brand Krystal was wearing was something she had never seen before but it felt familiar to the dress that Krystal bought her last time.

"Thank you very much. I didn't want to embarrass you so I spent quite a lot" Krystal spoke shyly and this made the family laugh at her honesty.

"It's pretty good, those people will definitely get hurt when they see you," Annie spoke as she nodded her head hidden inside as she said those words.

Krystal had seen Emerald before and this meant that Holmes had invited them. This banquet would be so much fun. Ever since she was already with the woman whose birthday she decided to give her gifts before the entire commotion began. He didn't want to give it away when everyone tried to curry favor with Annie but most importantly he didn't want people to know about the pills. He was too lazy to defend himself from some greedy wolves.

"I brought you a small gift, I hope you like it," Krystal said with a smile as she took out the jade bottle from her handbag.

"No need, you're quite here alone," Annie said politely but she anticipated the reward. What was hidden inside the small bottle exactly?

Krystal just chuckled and gave the bottle to her.

"Mom hurry and open. What'sthat?" Flora could not hide her curiosity anymore.

He was fully aware of how miraculous the things Krystal brought out were. When he was injured last time, he was shocked when he was told that someone had used a high quality medicine to treat him and he was healthy as a bull. He remembered taking acid medicine the day Krystal saved him which meant that Krystal had to have that godly medicine even the doctor was panicking.

When the jade bottle was opened, they could all smell its fragrance coming out of the bottle. When Annie took out the contents of the bottle, she was taken back when she saw the round yellow pill.

"What kind of pill is this?" Annie could not help but ask curiously.

"They're called beauty pills, I can only get those five but I promise that in a month you'll see the results" Krystal assured her.

"They have that kind of effect?"

"Umm they have. I've taken some on my own and I'm in the process of seeing some changes" Krystal said as she touched her face.

He hadn't even started taking the pill yet, but he was already into lying after all, he changed and the change required a reason.

"It's no wonder why you look like this. I really like this pill a lot," Annie beamed as she looked at Krystal.

"Take a week and you'll love yourself later."

"This is the greatest gift ever," Annie spoke like a child who had been given her favorite candy to make Krystal beamed.

Flora glared at her mother with dissatisfaction and she saw him.

"Why are you sulking?"

"Give me one!"

"No, it's mine and I won't give you anything" Annie refused her daughter so quickly that Flora and Krystal were shocked.

Since Flora had been rejected, she stared at Krystal with a wrong look.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"There's something hard to come by but I guess I'll find it next month and by then I'll make sure I get you one" Krystal said in an entertaining tone.

He did not want anyone to know that he had this kind of pill supply.

"You promised!"

"Yes, I'm ready."

After five minutes, the three left the room and joined the rest of the guests in the hall. Flora clung to Krystal like glue and she didn't feel anything was wrong. She did not even see the jealousy the other young teenage girl looked at gave Krystal as the two walked over to each other while laughing here and there.

These girls they didn't even know that it wasn't Krystal's leech but this prima donna that kept bothering her until she gave up.

Krystal was very sure that within a year he would be richer than Holmes but he would not burn the bridge after crossing it.

Since he had received help to open the boutique, he was in no hurry to let Holmes know about his ambitious side in starting the big company. He is someone who aims to lie and if he is to expose himself then questions will be asked about how he makes his money and it will be troublesome.

As soon as the banquet began, he sat next to Flora as much as the speech was made, he could only smile, nod his head and clap here and there.

Cakes are cut and gifts are handed out. Ever since he had given her now he had not bothered himself too much but sat there and watched the people competing.

There are some interesting gifts presented. Due to his sharp jade eyes, he could tell how genuine the gift was.

People must do anything to get help from those who have strength.

Finally, it was time for them to eat, so he and Flora both went to the food stand and started filling their plates. Krystal is someone who really doesn't care about faces, so she presents herself that food she feels like eating.

What's the point of pretending to be virtuous and elegant when everyone knows about your character with just one look? Satisfied with the plate, Krystal returned to the table and started eating. The two young girls were busy eating while ignoring everything around them.

Krystal lifted her ear and grinned when she heard a very funny conversation. It seemed like her little sister had not learned even after everything she had gone through. She must have had guts and she clapped for him.

"If something happens, don't interfere" Krystal said her words were directed at Flora enjoying her chicken.

"Is someone plotting against you again?"

"Just some kids' games, you don't have to worry about that."

Since Krystal had convinced him, he felt better but he would not remain low this time. So after eating he went to his mother and reported everything, Annie was furious when she heard about this but she knew that as long as she did not explain her family's stance then those people would continue to slander her new god daughter.

So Annie went back to the podium that kept everyone quiet down as they all waited for what Annie wanted to talk about.

"Thank you once again for coming to my birthday, it brings me joy to see that many of you still remember this woman. Today is a very big day not only for me but also for the Holmes family. A lot of things have happened lately both sad and happy. Let's not talk about sad things but happy ones. It is with great honor that I announce to the world that the Holmes family will adopt the goddaughter into the family. This young lady has brought joy not only to my beloved daughter but to everyone in this family," Annie spoke proudly on her face and everyone could tell how happy this stoic woman was when she spoke of this Baptist daughter. Many people were so curious but there were also those who had second-guessed about this person's identity before he was introduced.

"Flo my dear, please take your little sister forward," Annie smiled at her daughter who quickly did as she was told.

A shocked face appeared when they saw Krystal walking elegantly forward with a smile on her face.

"Why him? Why, why why?" Emerald stuffed his nails into his body's palms as he watched Krystal go forward. She felt relieved when she saw her expression on mother's face.

So what if she becomes their goddaughter? She is just an unwanted princess from her family and she will let the world know about her crimes.

"I can't believe that they brought someone with a videotaped criminal as their goddaughter," everyone could hear the insults from the Emerald tone his loyal followers.
