A Certainty

Rachel's tears fell looking at Arnold's condition like an undead. His eyes stared blankly forward, his face was pale, and his lips were dry. Arnold doesn't even care about his face starting to crack. He just leaned on the head of the bed. Doctor Albert has even come and provide food intake through the infusion tube.

Ever since the news of Fairy's plane crash, Arnold didn't want to eat at all. Body weakens. Rachel and Ezekiel agree to take Arnold to the house. Thomson, because it's just this house, Arnold's memories with Fairy don't exist. Counted 5 days Arnold was like this.

Noah immediately contacted the promoter and organizer of Arnold's world tour to postpone all concerts for an indefinite period.

Arnold's tears fell. He knew the blue book. His hands shook as he opened the pages of the book, sheet by sheet, writing that he was very familiar with. Although a little dirty because of the ink that seeps because it is exposed to water. Some parts are not wet. This includes Forever poems that Arnold composed.

"This evidence is strong enough to show that my Fairy is there. He's on that plane." Arnold was holding the book of poetry. His heart was broken again.

"Th....!" Rachel touched Arnold's shoulder.

"I'm not even allowed to see the body. I wasn't even allowed to bury his body. How sad is the farewell between us?" arnold said among his sobs. The handsome man who always looked tough and unpretentious, now looked fragile and helpless.

"If Fairy is gone, what is the point of living? Shouldn't I go with him in eternity?"

"No..!" Ezekiel and Rachel together. They both hugged Arnold. One on the left and one on the right.

"Don't talk like this, Ar. I'm sure this is all a test of life. Fairy won't calm down to see you like this either. I know Fairy left for a reason to want to see you happy. He never thought he would be on that plane. I beg Ar, don't despair. I'll accompany you. I'll be with you." Rachel cried as she hugged her cousin tightly.

"Boss, don't give up!" Said Susan. He and Noah have been in the room since Ezekiel and Joe arrived.

"I knew you'd be able to get through this, Arnold. I'm sure you'll be as strong as you were when your mom and dad died." Ezekiel patted his cousin on the shoulder to give him strength.

"I want to go to Indonesia." Arnold said at last.

"For what?" rachel asked confused.

"I'm going to see Anna's grandmother."

Jakarta 1 week later....

The car carrying Arnold, Rachel, Joe, and Ezekiel, had stopped in front of a simple house that looked beautiful because of the many flowers in the yard. In front of the house was a yellow flag.

"The yellow flag is a sign of sorrow in this house. It's Indonesian customs." Joe said it explained.

Arnold's heart ached again hearing that. Meaning Anna's grandmother already knew Fairy's death.

When they arrived at the door, there was an old woman who was still showing her beauty. He was standing looking at some photos on the wall. Sometimes his hands rubbed his falling tears.

"Good afternoon!"

"Who are you?" Confused ask.

"We're Fairy's friends." Rachel said she saw Arnold still standing looking at the pictures of Fairy on the wall of the house.

The old eyes were crying again. He looked at them with his sad face. "Come, come in!"

They went in and sat on the brown sofa in the living room.

"You guys from England?" ask Anna's grandmother.

"Yes." Yeah." Answer the three of them together only Arnold was still fixated on staring at Fairy's photos.

"You, Arnold Manola?" ask Grandma Anna.

Arnold nodded.

"You're my grandson's husband?"

Arnold surprised. Does Anna's grandmother know?

"I know!" grandma said Anna as if she could read Arnold's heart. "Two days before the plane crash, Fairy was telling me the truth about your marriage. Thank you for taking care of and loving my granddaughter all this time. Though I'm actually disappointed that she got married without telling me. I was disappointed that he got married before he finished college. But my granddaughter says she's happy because you love her so much."

Arnold prostrated himself in front of Anna's grandmother. He knelt down holding Anna's grandmother's hands.

"Thank me, grandma. I forced Fairy to accept my proposal. He was actually worried about getting married. But he finally agreed even though he felt guilty about you, Grandma. But Fairy didn't break her promise. He's still virgin until our wedding day." Arnold said while putting his head on Anna's grandmother's lap.

The old hand stroked Arnold's head gently. Her tears kept on flowing. "My son, don't regret everything that happened. I forgave you. I forgive Fairy. One plea, live your life with hope. Do not dissolve in sadness. Because if you're desperate, I'm sure my grandson's spirit will never settle down up there."

Arnold kept crying in Anna's grandmother's lap. If only he and Fairy would have come to Anna's grandmother before the wedding, things wouldn't have been like this. Even if Anna's grandmother would be angry but Arnold was sure, Anna's grandmother would agree to their marriage.

After returning from Jakarta, Arnold visited the crash site. He boarded a ship with Rachel, Ezekiel, Joe, Noah and Susan, Willy and Cassie.

The search for bodies has been stopped because none of the bodies have been found intact. After all, divers have difficulty because of the weight of the terrain and the cold of the water. All the victims' families get accident insurance. Joe helped take care of Anna's grandmother to receive the insurance. Because Anna's grandmother refused all Arnold's help materially. Arnold hopes that the accident insurance money can help the life of Anna's grandmother.

As the ship stopped at the crash site, Arnold stood at the stern of the ship holding on to the iron barrier. His eyes stared into the depths of the sea. While others let Arnold alone.

"My wife, it's so heavy that you have to leave me this way. You know my heart hurts so much, I want to die. But Anna's grandmother encouraged me to be patient and accept all of this with sincerity. I promise you, our love story will last forever. I will never love another woman like I love you. Forgive me for my selfishness that wants to force you to forget your dreams in order to be with my dreams. If I had known this would have gotten you on that fateful plane, I would have supported you to keep working and continue your studies on S2 in London." Arnold's cry broke. He lowered his head, leaning his forehead against the guardrail. Some time he cried, until finally Rachel approached and gave a basket filled with flowers. Behind Rachel was another.

"Ar, let's sow the flowers and say good-bye to your wife." Rachel said.

Arnold took the flower basket. "Goodbye my wife, happy path my soulmate. Calm down in eternity. You will always live in my memory. In memories all my life. Until I finally have to close my eyes and see you again." Arnold sowed the flower on the sea water. Others followed Arnold to sow flowers. There was no sound there, only Cassie's cry and the roar of the cold beach breeze.

After the flowers were laid, they returned to London.

"Noah, contact all the concert organizers. My round-the-world tour will be held as scheduled." Said Arnold. Her hand held the wedding ring of the two of them which was made into a pendant on her necklace. Arnold wants to continue his life even though it feels empty without any more Fairy.
