Swordsman the Wanderer

Swordsman the Wanderer
Ch 139's. Core Formation Array

According to Sun Haoran's explanation earlier, this time, the Ghost King Sutra was very likely to appear in the deeper parts of the Ghost King's Underground Palace.

Zhang En decided to come with them to inspect the underground palace to see if he could obtain the cultivation technique of the Ghost King Sutra. Although he did not need any other cultivation techniques, it was still beneficial if he could gain cultivation insights from the Ghost King sutra.

The Ghost King Sutra, it was possible that it contained the Ghost King's records and an understanding of his years of cultivation. According to rumors, this Ghost King Sutra would greatly benefit those who wanted to break through to higher realms.

Elsewhere, Peng Feng and Sun Haoran were happy that Zhang En would continue to be with them.

“Brother Zhang, should we leave now?” Sun Haoran asked.

Zhang En nodded.

The treasures in the Ghost King Temple had already been plundered cleanly by Li Li's group, therefore they did not need to explore the Ghost Temple any further. After all, all four of their spatial rings had been taken by Zhang En.

The three flew in one direction, heading inside to the Ghost King's Palace.

As they got closer to the center of the Ghost King Palace, the auras of ghosts and demons became heavier so that at a certain point, this aura turned into a strange-shaped mist enveloped the sky above the Ghost King Palace. From afar, it could be said that the strange fog could be seen like a ghost mountain or a demon mountain.

One day later, the three of them arrived at the entrance to the underground palace. The underground entrance of the palace exceeded twelve meters in height and width, leading to an endless hallway of darkness.

Zhang was a hundred meters away from the entrance, yet close enough for him to feel the ghostly terror and demonic aura blowing out from the underground palace, to the point of making Zhang En feel uneasy.

He frowned, this was the first time he had felt such intense discomfort since he arrived in this world.

“Brother Zhang, should we go in now?” Sun Haoran spoke.

Zhang En nodded, since he was already here, then he should calm down and go with the flow. He was even more unwilling to give up at this moment to continue walking through the dark passageway towards the Ghost King's underground Palace.

The three of them flew through the entrance, and in an instant, their silhouettes were engulfed by the darkness of the underground palace, blocked by the steaming aura of ghosts and demons.

“Brother Zhang, this underground palace structure is extremely complex, filled with traps and prohibitions, not to mention countless ghosts and demons. Everyone has to be extra careful to move forward." Peng Feng reminded.

Zhang En nodded. However, just as Peng Feng had said, the space around them resounded with an unearthly sounding voice.

The shrill roar that suddenly came from all four directions shocked Zhang En, and without any indication, the scene in front of him suddenly changed. The palace corridor that looked real instantly disappeared, while the figures of Peng Feng and Sun Haoran were also nowhere to be seen.

"What'sthis? What's going on?!" Zhang En opened the Sky Eye on his forehead, scanning the area. A ghostly aura rolled endlessly from the void, the evil spirits hissing and exposing their fangs to the new prey.

Zhang En shot out the Buddhist light of Truth from the palm without hesitation. A myriad of Buddha statues emerged from the ground, the light of Buddha's holy aura as if enlightening the world. Where the holy light shone, the ghostly aura evaporated and the evil spirits were purified. The environment felt lighter and fresher in an instant.

'"this is? An array formation trap!"

Watching the returning evil spirits appear, at the same time he defeated a small number of them, Zhang En understood that they had stepped into some sort of array formation. The ghost array formation was strong at that moment.

"Now, the most important task is to find the core of the array formation!" Zhang En said and quickly found a solution to the situation he was in at the moment.

His silhouette flickered within the ranks of the evil spirits that were coming closer, and he also killed more and more evil spirits while observing his surroundings, trying to find the origin of the dense ghostly aura and evil spirits.

"It turns out there!" A moment later, Zhang En's eyes lit up as he stared at a corner of the building. He then jumped forwards, directly heading to that point.

The holy light of the Buddha's palm of Truth is the natural enemy of ghosts, evil spirits and demons, therefore, along the way, Zhang En only used the same attack to disperse all the barriers of the spirits as well as the evil ghosts that blocked his path.

Despite that, the closer he got to the point of the array formation, the thicker the evil aura that was in front of him gathered the more powerful evil spirits. The longer, the more they were, the more so there was almost no place to move forward. Even with Zhang En's current speed gradually slowing down. Helplessly, Zhang En unleashed his battle Qi at full strength, releasing Buddhist energy within his body. The majestic Buddhist light pierced through the darkness and illuminated the entire surrounding area. The evil spirits that were near Zhang En instantly also evaporated into nothingness.

Zhang En added speed towards the core of the array formation. Twenty minutes later, he reached the spacious-looking hall.

In the middle of that vast hall, a one meter tall flag was stuck to the floor. The surface of the flag was inscribed with an ancient letter symbol of evil spirits, while on a thin black flagpole was engraved a strange talisman symbol. These amulet symbols bear a resemblance to ancient writings, but at the same time, if noticed in detail, they are not the same as ancient writings.

The ghostly aura came out endlessly from the surface of the flag, the evil spirits that floated around were clearly visible, akin to endless thunderous clouds. If not for Zhang En's Sky Eye, it would have been impossible for him to find a flag amidst the darkness and the overwhelming number of evil spirits.

Undoubtedly, this flag was the key to the phantom array formation, the core of the array formation. But when Zhang En stepped in to pull his flag from the ground, a black light flickered in the vast hall. A towering ghostly figure landed right between Zhang En and the flag, blocking his path.

This gigantic ghost was at least four meters tall, the scales of the black snake glittering over his body like armor. One of his hands held a three-branched spear decorated with skull drawings on each of its branches. The three-branched spear seemed to be dripping blood.

When the giant ghost appeared, it instantly attacked Zhang En with incredible speed. It was much faster compared to Zhao Chen. Zhang En was immediately startled, his long Golden Spear instantly appeared and slid. The two spears clashed against each other in the air.

TRANGGGW!

A sharp metallic clashing sound rang out. A numb feeling crept onto Zhang Eni's arm, his legs staggered from the impact and retreated a few steps, but the giant ghost remained unshakable, like a sturdy mountain.
