Chapter 34 - May you quickly come to your senses

Tiredness today began to be felt, so Mira shifted to the bed to find a comfortable position to sleep. But George still remains chatty with his romantic words. Perhaps before this, the man had already learned how to melt a woman's heart with words.

"I hope we can love each other equally." George spoke softly.

"Hopefully."

George looked at Mira inside, as if something was thinking.

"What's wrong? Is there a problem?" Ask Mira.

"No. It's just, I think you need to know about my past."

"That's a good thought. Telling the past is a good start in a relationship."

Mira's curious side is big enough to make him impatient to wait for the man's story about his life story in the past. "Then, say. Now!"

George never imagined he would have to tell his past to a woman who still could not be sure if he would still be with her after he learned of the man's bad attitude and the Goldsmith family's rules. But in the man's heart there was somehow a belief in Mira. "Over the last two years I have had no woman to love but mom and nessa. I don't want to love someone so deeply because it hurts so much." George lirih.

Mira stared concerned."If you're not ready, no need to force it. You can say it next time. I can wait until you're really ready." Mira's speech is soft.

"Nothing next time. I'm ready now. Besides, it's not fair if you're the only one telling me about your life."

"It's good if you're conscious."

George took a deep breath and continued. "Three years ago I had a serious relationship with Selena, an office worker. We met for the first time at his company's corporate birthday party, where the company belonged to my friend Lionel. We chatted lightly and we found that we fit in with our thinking and everything else. From that night on we decided to be lovers."

George took a breath. "A few months later, I took her to meet my family. Mom doesn't like it that much."

"Why?"

"According to mom, Selena didn't sincerely love me. He just loves my treasure. And damn it's true. Not even just that. Selena even betrayed my love. She not only dates me, but also dates other men, just for the money."

"The poor george. But maybe you're stingy at him." Mira said a little joking.

George laughed a little. "For God's sake, every woman I come into contact with has never lacked anything, neither money nor luxury."

"Why did he betray you?"

George breathed out a loud breath. "Before our meeting with mom, I routinely gave her ten times her salary each month. Then after the warning from mom, I decided to test it."

"Testing what?" Mira was getting curious.

Moments later, Mira looks at George's gloomy face. "You love her so much."

"Yes. Do you believe she was my first love ?"

"Yes, I only knew love when I was with him."

When Mira's gaze did not turn, George saw a look of disbelief. Understanding the situation, George explained, "Of course before being in a relationship with Selena, I dated several times. But it was just a momentary date. One week is the longest time for me to be with one woman. So they're not my lovers. Just an ordinary girlfriend. It's different with Selena. I love her so much that we intend to get married. And as long as we were together, I never betrayed her."

Mira pursed her lips, pouting.

Seeing Mira's face like that made George ask, "What's with your face?"

"It's okay - what. Just continue your story. Don't mind me."

George did as the woman said. "It took me over a year to recover my feelings. It was the hardest time of my life" George recalls.

"Are you sorry you broke up with him?"

"No. He should be the one who's sorry."

"Why?"

"Because after we split up, I got him fired from his job and it would be hard for him to find a job in a company that was forgiving."

The shock attack hit Mira. "What?" Shouted Mira. "George, you're a vengeful man."

George justifies."Right. I'll avenge every heartache I feel."

"You're cruel."

"No. He is the cruel one. I was heartbroken because of it. I wouldn't have done that to her if she hadn't betrayed me."

"You can choose to cut off your relationship with him without having to make him lose his job."

"It's not that easy, Mira. I have my own rules. More so than the traitors, I must punish him."

In Mira's life, she's never met a guy like George, a scary guy. Now he doubts whether to learn to love this vengeful man or vice versa, choosing to resign from the relationship they just want to build.

"You know how it is now?"

Mira exhaled heavily, offended. "Of course I'm not him. The materialistic and traitorous woman is not in the dictionary of my life. Mama always taught me about loyalty, both in family relationships, work, friendship and love."

Mira is still interested in George's past, then she asks again. "Do you have any other lovers besides Selena?"

"Why? Did mom not like it?"

Mira seems confused what to say to respond. On one hand he is happy that the man is willing to be honest with his past and with his attitude. But on the other hand Mira thinks of her life which will definitely be depressed when with the man. Mira asked hesitantly, "Do you want to change for me and our relationship?"

"Yes. But on one condition."

"For God's sake, does it have to be like that ?"

"What's the condition?"

"You should stop working, no later than next month because we're getting married soon."

Mira's facial expression showed that she was absorbing George's words just now. Mira revealed the smile that made George melt. The woman then put her face right in front of the man's face and muttered, "No problem. Just so you give me a lot of monthly money." Mira chuckles. "No, no. I was just kidding. I wish we could keep each other open so we could understand each other and accept." Mira said seriously.

Looking into the woman's eyes, George smiled broadly. "I will fulfill all your needs. Rest assured, you won't lack anything."

It is very unlikely that Arifin came home with such a situation because all this time Lisa and Arifin closed it tightly. So Lisa's parents don't know Arifin's dark side at all."

George was silent for a moment, digesting Mira's words. "Did Lisa's parents not like Arifin." Ask the man.

"Absolutely. Mira's parents don't like Arifin very much. Especially her mother."

"So you're actually helping them both."

"Yes." Yeah."

"Oh, fuck. I think too negatively about you. I'm sorry." Reality as if slapping the man.

"In the depths of my heart, I have forgiven you." Mira said while sharing a smile that could calm George's heart.

Warmth enveloped George and Mira as the man tightly hugged Mira's body.

A misunderstanding has made them fall in love.
