The Beginning Of The Ruler

The Beginning Of The Ruler
Chapter 02: The Mana Manipulation Encyclopedia

I am a king. I can get my country's soldiers to gather at my feet, kneel with a flick of a finger. I have defeated my competitors from different countries as well as my own people to settle disputes and defend my position. In terms of swordsmanship and controlling Qi, I am second to none, as having personal strength is essential to being a ruler in my past world on Earth. The king was not born, but raised. However, I can't think of a more proud moment in my two lives than now.

I can crawl, baby!

'Until now, I had to settle for the story my mother would tell me while trying to put me to sleep. I grumbled letting out a grievance sound when he stopped too early. My father would sometimes sit me in his lap idly talking to me about his past, which gave me some clues about what kind of world this was and what it contained.

Reynolds White, a former adventurer, (It seems that it is a decent job in this world) has quite a lot of experience in this field. He was part of several parties that went on expeditions to search for treasures and fulfill the missions they obtained from the Adventurers Guild. He finally settled down when he met my mother at the Royal border in a town called Valdez. He proudly told me how my mother fell in love with him at first sight when he visited the hall of the Adventurers Guild of the city where he was working at that time, but I suspect it's the exact opposite of how my mom slapped him across the street. Hit the back of his head and tell him to stop lying.

By the way, my name is Arthur White now. In short, Holy White, who, as the former King, sounded a bit too sweet, but hey, after taking a quick look at myself on the sheet metal they used as a mirror in the restroom, he said, I look so adorable. I get my father's dark night sky hair, while my eyes are Ruby red, which was inherited from my mother. I don't know how my facial features will change as I grow up, but as long as I don't get fat, it'll be fine.

Beware of the future! Prepare for heartbreak!

After weeks of trying to crawl, but only reaching uncoordinated fights on the spot, I finally succeeded; even managed to sneak into the library/family study room while my mother was drying laundry. I regretted the day I started moving, sighing, "I swear, you're going to be as hard as your father."

I closed the encyclopedia and put myself more comfortable on the ground.I basically just lay on my stomach because crawling and sitting up straight is so tiring.

Reflecting on what I just read, this world seemed very retarded. From what I can deduce, there doesn't seem to be much technological progress. The only source of transportation seems to be horse carriages, which vary in size for land use, and ships with sails for rivers.

Weapons are allowed freely and are not strictly regulated unless you visit the royal family or people who hold authority. For the sake of Gods, it keeps confusing me every time I see people carrying weapons while shopping for groceries.

Naturally, in my previous world, Earth, there were soldiers and guards carrying hidden weapons, even so, it was not for the purpose of killing, but to prevent evil from happening.

However, here, I witnessed a thief who stole some items from the armory store the other day being slashed from behind by a large bald mercenary carrying a polearm. Moreover, the people who saw even to the extent gave applause to the oversized monk as the thief lay dying there.

The similarity that this world and my previous world had was a monarchical system. The continent of Arsenalia has a Kingdom, each ruled by a King and his royal family. Unlike Earth, kings are chosen by lineage; titles are passed down from the King's son, to his son and so on.

After scanning through the encyclopedia, there didn't seem to be much information about any other continent other than the continent we were on right now. I find this a bit strange because there are ships carrying goods and passengers across the continent via rivers.I just assume that maybe the technology on the ship has not developed enough to sail across the ocean.

One thing that would be difficult to get used to was the entire premise of magic in this world. If we talk about superhuman strength, of course, the countries on Earth rely on such people.

On Earth, practitioners learned how to condense and utilize the innate Qi they had inside their bodies. Think of it as a muscle if you want to. Destroying the Qi center repeatedly due to fatigue followed by rest would cause the Qi center to grow stronger, allowing access to a larger Qi pool. Qi will then be channeled throughout the body through special blood vessels or meridians and used to strengthen the body and weapons.

In this world, instead of Qi, it seemed to be called Mana and what was more surprising was that it existed in the atmosphere. Thus, Practitioners, or Magicians, would use the surrounding Mana and pull it into their bodies, eventually condensing it in their Mana Core. In my old world, Qi only existed and formed inside the body. Whether Qi never existed in the Earth's atmosphere from the beginning or no longer exists because of human-caused pollution, we will never know.

On Earth, while training was extremely important, the size of the user's innate Qi center was even more important because the limited amount of Qi one had in his body was the only one that could be used. Does that mean the size of one's innate Mana Core wouldn't be a problem because of the available Mana in the atmosphere?

The bigger the cup, the more you can hold, right?

In my old world, even though my Qi center is not too big, it is, I was considered an extraordinary person in channeling and using my Qi effectively to replace my not-so-great Qi center. With the way I utilize every one of my Qi, I can become the strongest of the Duelist elite division, gaining the right to become a King.

Now, if I can still practice the way Qi practitioners use their Qi, but with the Mana that is within the Mana Core and in the surrounding atmosphere, can't I double up … triple the power I had before?

The next book I managed to pull from the bottom shelf, explaining some questions to me.

"Starter Guide to the Witch of Specialty"

“While the power to control mana is mostly genetic, there are many cases where Magi children cannot sense Mana around them. A recent census showed that approximately 1 in 100 children can feel Mana, or, but to what extent can only be tested when their Mana Core was first fully developed — anywhere from early adolescence to late adolescence. It would be seen when a mage was first awakened by the initial rejection of the mana around him when their Mana Core manifested. A translucent barrier formed around the awakened that lasted a few minutes."

Flipping through the pages, I found something that caught my attention.

"…where can be used in several ways. The two most common methods for using mana are: the increase of the body by mana (Augimenter), and the emission of mana into the outside world (Magician)…"

"…. The augimenter is most commonly seen among warriors who use mana, channeling it through their bodies to strengthen themselves and attack them."

"… The practice of magic is seen in Magicians, who, after using their Mana, can cast spells to exert a certain effect on the surrounding area or directly on the target."

Weaknesses and Limitations

"While Augimenter can have tremendous strength, defense, and agility, their weakness lies in their limited reach …"

"Witches have an unexpected power, able to bend their environment to their liking. However, such strength had its limits. Unlike the Augimenter, which made use of most of the Mana in their own Mana Core, the magicians needed to borrow mana from the outside world, in addition to their own Mana Core, to exert mana into their surroundings in the form of spells."

"While both types of Magicians, or Mana Manipulators, to more scientifically accurate terms, depend on and are categorized by which core they are, are, Augimenter and magician also have different ways of measuring their talents."

"Reverse"

"Auguimenter aptitude or aptitude is measured by the strength of the Mana channels in their bodies, which measure their speed and efficiency in moving their mana from their Mana Core to different parts of their bodies…"

"Reverse"

"… The Magician (Manipulator Mana) is usually categorized into one of these two divisions as trying to become proficient in both since the early stages is very time consuming and inefficient. Most are born with a skewed difference in the mana ducts and their Mana veins … "

"…Augimenters don't need a very strong Mana vein because they mostly use Mana from the core, while Magician do not need extremely powerful Mana channels because they do not release their mana into their own body."

"As the level of proficiency increases, the difference between Augimenter and Magician decreases naturally, but that only happens at an advanced level …"

So my idiot father seems to be a competent Augimenter and a less than average witch.

The healing light..What is my mother?

"Reverse, reverse, reverse"

AHHH!

"There are some, rare deviations. The two most famous types of deviations are elemental aberrations and Almitters. Although there are still some undiscovered, the one that is highly sought after is the Almitter, better known as the healer. Healers have the rare ability to give their unique restorative mana to others, directly, recovering injuries and distractions."

Wow. Mom is the best.

Magus Basics

"The proper step to use mana for Magician is to collect the mana around the area, draw it into your body, then, after circulating it to the Mana Core to stabilize and purify the Mana diluted in the atmosphere, after which, after circulating it to the Mana Core to stabilize and purify the Mana diluted in the atmosphere, you channel it to the appropriate conductor. (stick, stick, ring, such) with a spell as the mental controller for your desire to mold mana into whatever spell you want … "

"Reverse"

"…The stronger the spell, the longer it takes to pull the mana around it, store it in our Mana Core, where it is solidified and purified, and finally channel and release…"

"Reverse"

"Since magic involves the use of mana focused into a particular spell, the magicians will realize that they have a special talent of certain elements (Air, Water, Fire, Earth), and so on, but with proper training, it can become adequate in the basics of all elements.

"Reverse, reverse"

Basics of Augmentation

"Unlike magic, less time could be spent gathering mana around him. Efficient use of Augmentation requires speed and precision in the use of mana from your core and less from where in the atmosphere.."

This is where it clicked…. Augmentation is very close to using Qi, except you can also draw Mana from your surroundings. The reason why there was no kind of witch in my old world on Earth was because there was no Mana in the atmosphere to take and create a phenomenon.

My eyes stiffened as I read.

"…Augimenting requires proper Mana distribution to different body parts, depending on how the user sees fit. Although it looks simple at first glance, Augimenting requires a lot of insight into the individual's own body. Being able to utilize which channel efficiently requires years of mental and physical exercise."

"Reverse"

Since Augmentation involves extracting mana in the purest form of the user's Mana Core, there is no very noticeable difference in the elemental sense at the initial stage. However, the Augimenter can control their Mana more freely, resulting in a very different form of combat.through enlargement."

"Reverse"

"The phenomenon called 'Backlash' occurs in both types of practitioners. For Augimenters, it occurs due to the depletion of the Mana Core, causing extreme body pain, depending on how severe the damage is to the Mana Core. For Magician, the counterattack occurred due to the overcharging of the Mana Core. This was due to the excessive use of spells beyond the practitioner's capacity, or using spells that were too powerful to be dealt with by the Mana Core."

Closing the book, I propped up my body, digesting the excessive information I had just read.

Because of the incredible similarity between the Qi center of my old world and the Mana Core in this world, I find it hard to believe that you have to be a young teenager to manipulate mana. In my old world, the children were already able to meditate and feel the Qi spread within their bodies. Once the Qi migrates to one place, the Qi center will form.

Testing my hypothesis, I started meditating, trying to feel the mana in my 7-month-old body when …

"That's it! Art, honey, are you having trouble defecating?"

Mama! I will begin my journey to become the greatest wizard in the world! Don't make me a constipated baby!

Mother took me and gently placed me in her arms, I was forcibly taken away to change my diaper, which, surprisingly, was full by the time I noticed.
