As the sword curved towards me, I noticed that there was a faint light of mana surrounding it. Adding his sword to attack an eight-year-old child .. This person really showed no wisdom. The hood that covered the guard's face slammed backwards as he charged towards me, revealing the furious expression of a rough veteran.
The faces of horror can be seen clearly from the people around us. The Twin Stars tried desperately towards the guard when they saw him attacking me, to stop him from splitting me in half. Even the King seemed surprised by the unprecedented actions of his bodyguards, while the Queen frantically started grabbing his staff.
My eyes remained focused on the guard who was about to swing down, but I was quite relaxed. Whether out of anger or due to the training the royal guards received was mediocre, his attacks were hurried and full of loopholes. I don't even have to put mana into my body to deal with it. I took a step forward with my right foot as his sword swung down towards me, then reached out and grabbed the space in his sword grip between the cross-guard and his hand.
I proceeded to spin on my right foot, using its swinging momentum, while my body aligned with the guard. His strengthened sword whistled harmlessly through the empty space where I had just been, creating a small crack in the ground, and instead pinning his sword inside. In one smooth motion, I quickly hit him in the jaw, which he did not bother to keep with mana. The power of my upward blow, combined with the downward movement of his swing, created an impact that was much stronger than I expected. The guard only managed to let out a low grunt before he fell to the ground.
My attention was immediately drawn to Sebas. As I expected, the dense fool silently muttered the spell as his beaded-like eyes locked intently with my eyes.
POV SEBAS:
'That insolent boy! He needs to learn his place! When the King asks for something, it is not a request; it is an order! How dare he not only refuse, but also rebuke our glorious King! The boy did not deserve an equal contract! I personally come from a family of pure magicians; elite magicians who are able to bend nature to their liking. I have no contract with animals at all! However, that brat had a ferocious beast capable enough to form an equivalent contract at such a young age! That meant that the level of the beast was at least A grade!' I couldn't help but grit my teeth in frustration.
'I'm the one who deserves the incredible horse that will become that beast! But he rejected me? He rejected the King?'
"Braven peasants! You dare insult the King and his family?" Harry let out a roar as he charged towards the boy, his sword thrusting high into the air.
'Yes! Kill that bad boy! I guess the Augimenter does have its uses at times. Ha ha! After the boy dies, that black mana beast will be mine!'
However, even before I could start cheering for him, he was already eliminated.
"…"
'What the fuck? How could such a useless half-stupid fool bring himself down? Ugh.. I think I should handle this boy myself.' As I started to pull out my cane, I saw the boy walking towards me.
I have to hold back the laughter. 'Did he really come towards me? Did he ask to die?' Well, I don't really care at the moment. 'The non-magician 'Alex' is a close friend of the King, but I might get a light punishment for killing an insignificant brat.
Any nagging punishment he gave me would be extremely valuable after obtaining the boy's Mana Beast.
When I started chanting the mantra in silence, inevitably I became annoyed as he continued to approach me. Was he so stupid that he didn't know he was going to die?
However, a bit of uneasiness started to form in my heart. This boy, lacking the background or strength to save her, had such confidence. Why did I feel like this brat, who was only half my height, somehow looked down at me; as if he was the one who was superior.
However, much stronger than my unease was the harsh humiliation of having something that I had been looking for so fiercely. 'You're just trying to make me want to kill you more, aren't you, boy?'
He arrived in front of me just as I was about to complete my Fire Spark spell.
Suddenly, a piercing crackling sound rang out from under me before I knelt down.
"…"
'That's weird. Why did I suddenly lose my balance?'
I glanced down, only to see someone's knee bent inward, along with the bone, the tendon still stuck, sticking out of the skin.
'I-it's my leg!'
"GAAAAAAAHHHH!"
"My legs! MY FEET!! AHHHHHHH!"
THAT HURTS! PAIN IT HUR IT HURT IT HURT IT HURT IT HURT IT HURT IT HURT! I have never felt such excruciating pain in my life! Why would a noble magician like me need to feel pain?
'W-Why doesn't anyone help me?' As I frantically looked around, it was clear that everyone was somehow frozen. Not only were they shocked, but they were completely frozen in place.
It was then that I realized that the colors around me had been reversed, or reversed. 'Are my eyes blurred from pain?'
"This room won't last long, so I'll make it quick. I will tell you now that it would be better for both of us if you stop your futile pursuit of my bond. I don't want to make enemies of the leader of this Kingdom, so I'm giving you one last chance."
The boy spoke in a way that made me completely forget his age. His tone of words, coupled with the way he articulated it, carried strength and dignity, causing the frightening sensation I had felt before.
'That's her in the room!' As I thought about this, the pressure weighed on me, forcing me to obey with fear.
He turned his back to me as he walked away, taking a few steps forward, before suddenly glancing towards me.
She looked at me with an emotionless face, her eyes as if piercing straight into my brain like hot needles, completely making me grimace in pain.
'No.. No, no, no. I can't breathe! I-i'm scared!' The agonizing pain had been somewhat numb. Instead, I could feel a warm sensation between my legs as my body accepted its fate of death.
His eyes continued to look at me with disdain as I tried to stop my shivering body.
He looked at me as if I was just an insect, and slowly said,
"Know.. Your place... Being!"
KING GLAYDLORD POV:
While the implications of his message to the King of a country provoked, the reasons and arguments of this eight-year-old boy fascinated me.
Although Sebas was a loyal guardian who had served us for decades, it was under me to make this child hand over his pet. However, I still promised earlier that I would do it. Who am I if I swallow back my words?
Then, everything went south. 'Did the Royal Knight Guards only amount to this many …? In a hurry just because of the provocation of an eight-year-old?'
I did not bring my personal Knights Templar, thinking that there would be no problem, but I cannot suspect that this new trainee would cause this much trouble …
Although it surprised me, I quickly calmed down. What was done is done. If a royal guard was going to kill this child, the public would probably pity him and his family for a few days, but in the end the blame was on the child's parents for blocking me.
It's a pity that this kid's family is friends with Alex. Breaking up with the owner of the auction house will probably be a little troublesome, in the future.
However, beyond all expectations, the eight-year-old displayed a series of moves that could not be perfectly executed even if a Temporary Knight had done so. So deftly the boy crippled my Royal Guardsman.
'Harry, silly. How inexperienced are you that you even forgot to strengthen your body ?! The only thing you do is give a bad name to the Royal Knights of Xafir!'
"LOPYAAAAAAA!" I immediately turned towards that shrill scream.
My wife stared wide-eyed at something behind me, causing me to turn around to look better.
'How is Sebas...?!, who was fine a few seconds ago, now on the ground holding onto his left leg like that? His legs had some bone fragments sticking out, yet he was just glaring at the boy?'
The sorcerer fumbled to look for his wand on the ground and as soon as he grabbed it, aimed it at the child while starting to mutter the spell.
"Enough, Sebas!" I roared at him. Does this foolish fool not know that all this comes from his greed for child bonding?
This pathetic ingratitude…
"Retreat! This matter is over," I growled threateningly at him as we looked in the eye.
'He is in the presence of a king! No matter how much he got used to, it was best for me to remind him that I could end his life at will.'
As soon as I finished this thought, the boy fainted. His family and, who I could only assume to be his friends, immediately rushed towards him. I let out a breath. 'Solving this incident would be rather tiring.'
I could see that the boy's family and friends were fighting not to attack me.
'How wise they are to know their place before their King.'
Thinking about the problem caused by this, and what it would take to overcome it, I let out a deep sigh.
"I imagine the child needs to be cared for; please excuse me so that we can settle this matter next time," I announced as I guided my wife and children out, leaving behind the two pitiful clowns I once did foolishly summon Royal Knights to be picked up by his teammates.
ARTHUR WHITE POV:
'Well! My head!'
I opened my eyes, wanting to know where I was, but everything blurred. As my vision slowly disappeared, I carefully turned to the right and left.
That's my room.
"Kye!" Eve immediately woke up and started licking my face. 'Papa is awake! Papa is awake!' he chirped, his tail swaying violently.
"Mmm…? You finally woke up!" My mother had her head on her arm as she leaned against my bed.
"The doctor says that you may fall unconscious from shock, and you will soon wake up. However, I don't think 'soon' will be eight hours." He rubbed his finger gently into my hair, giving me a gentle smile.
It was visible from her red eyes that she had been crying for a while. A bitter taste filled my mouth with regret for making her worry again
"What happens after I pass out?" I forced myself to sit down, placing the excited Eve on my lap.
"We all left shortly after you fell unconscious. No one is sane, so the King excuses himself first. Your father is downstairs with the King's representative. They're in the living room discussing what happened." His eyes were trembling with worry.
I just nodded in response and got out of bed. My body still felt heavy from using the first phase of Silvana's Draconic Will, so I limped down with Mother after she checked Alicia, who was sleeping in her room.
As we descended down, I could hear my father, along with the hoarse voice of an old man.
Upon seeing me, the representative suddenly stood up, giving me a slight bow, a slight expression of relief on his weathered face. My father's back was facing me, so he only turned to look when he saw the old man starting to wake up.
"My child! You're finally awake!" He threw himself on the couch and wrapped me in a bear's arms, his hands cupping the back of my head.
"Yes Dad, I'm fine. What are you guys talking about?"
"This representative came up with some gold coins as a 'sign of apology' from the King. 'For a minor incident'," replied my father with gritted teeth.
"The Royal King has also ordered me to inform the White family that the two guards who attacked Arthur Ehite have been stripped of the nobility" the representative added, his voice breaking.
"Because of nearly killing my son, the King just slapped their wrists, then waved at them?" My father couldn't help but get angry out of frustration.
"Dad, it's okay! Look, I'm not hurt. Let's just end this matter." I squeezed my father's hand, giving him a reassuring look.
The king seems like a pretty good character, but in times like these, I guess the priority lies elsewhere.
The representative just looked at us without further ado—as if it was certain that whatever the King did was the right thing.
Sighing, I took my seat. "I'm too tired for this shit."
Putting the matter aside, I asked about Sebastian, just in case he said something. "What happened to the Magician? The one with the broken knee?"
The representative only shook his head slightly. "We don't know. Our experts hypothesize that because of which Knight attacked you by bouncing and hitting his knee."
I just shrugged my shoulders looking at this. It seems like this matter was resolved easier than I thought.
After the old representative left—especially because my father was already impatient with his attitude—he turned around and smiled at me.
"Good work knocked down the Augimenter. That's my son!" He clenched his fists in front of him, which I immediately struck with my own fists, smiling.
"Where are the Twin Stars? I thought they were here."
My mother answered me while chuckling, "We should keep them away from this, otherwise they might actually turn into fugitives."
I laughed at this, but I knew that it was something they were really worried about from the helpless expression on my father's face.
According to my mother, the Twin Stars were waiting at a nearby inn. My father told me that we would go there tomorrow for breakfast, and would discuss me becoming an adventurer with them. I nodded and went back to my room. My birthday is less than two weeks. I can finally make my first mark on this world.
As I sank back into my bed, I stared at my palm, lazily thinking about the previous incident. This is my first time using Silvana's Draconic Will. The last years I spent studying Eve's will, before assimilating it into my body and practicing it for four months, had made me sigh in wonder how powerful Silvana was.
I just entered the ocean which is the power of Silvana. Unlike Grandfather Victor, who could only gain increased speed and blend in with his surroundings, becoming a heritage tamer allowed me to access more of Silvana's power in the first stage.
What I used on Sebas was something I decided to name 'Distortion'. I can basically separate myself from time and space for a moment. Although I cannot change anything around me, it gives me time to assess my situation. Earlier today, I had exceeded my limits by using Distortion on others as well. It allows me to escape unnoticed from Raja— for now. I'm not strong enough to fight him.
My current limit with Distortion, before I received any reaction, was two seconds. But today, I have used it on others, and have extended it to five seconds. I did all that just to scare that insect named Sebastian away.I've used all my mana and fainted for half a day—just to scare the bugs. Maybe it's better to kill him.
No, I can't think like that anymore. Causing a meaningless death just for my comfort is not something I should do in this world. I have to be different in this world.
I shook my head. I have plenty of time. Since I have a lot of time, I have to be patient.
I opened the parcel Alex had left by my bedside, only to see a White mask capable of covering my entire face. It was a simple mask, with two sharp eye slits that curved upwards; it reminded me of fox eyes. There are no nostrils or mouths; only a single red line runs straight down the left side of the mask, through the left eye gap.
I tried the mask, which somehow stuck to my face without the need for a rope. I also tried the midnight blue coat, which turned out to be rather long. After tying the coat, it suddenly shrank to fit my body.
Inevitably I felt ashamed; I felt like a murderer or a vigilante.
"Aah, ahh. Testing. Testing." My voice surprised me. That sounds very different. My immature, high-pitched voice has become a rich baritone.
"Kyu?" Sylvie just looked at me curiously, making me laugh and take off my clothes.
"Are you not excited? Don't you want to get a little action too, Eve?" I patted his head, as my head was filled with the shadow of an adventurer.
