The Sword In The Stone's

After the King of England, Uther Pendragon, died without an heir to the throne, a sword miraculously appeared inside the foundation on the rock, with the inscription stating that whoever plucked it out was the future king.

 Many failed to pull out their swords, so they were forgotten, leaving England in the Dark Ages.

 Years later, an 11-year-old orphan named Arthur, commonly called Wart, accidentally scares away a deer being hunted by his adoptive brother, Sir Kay, kay launches his arrow into the forest.

  While retrieving the arrow, Arthur meets Merlin, an old wizard who lives with his talking owl, Archimedes.

  Merlin declares himself Arthur's teacher and returns with him to his home, a castle run by Sir Ector, Arthur's adoptive father.

 Ector's friend, Sir Pellinore, came to announce that the winner of the upcoming New Year's tournament in London would be crowned king. Ector decides Kay will be a contender and appoints Arthur as Kay's bodyguard.

 To educate Arthur, Merlin turns the two into fish. They swam in the castle moat to learn about physics.

 After the lesson, Arthur is sent to the kitchen as punishment for trying to tell him what happened to Ector and Kay. Merlin bewitches the dishes to wash himself, then takes Arthur out again for another lesson.

 For the next lesson, Merlin turns the two of them into squirrels to learn about gravity.

Arthur is almost eaten by a wolf, but is saved by a female squirrel who falls in love with him.

After they return to human form, Ector accuses Merlin of using black magic on a plate. Arthur defends Merlin, but Ector punishes Arthur by giving Kay another bodyguard, Hobbs.

  Merlin turns Arthur into a sparrow and Archimedes teaches him how to fly. Soon after, Arthur meets Madam Mim, an eccentric evil sorcerer who is Merlin's nemesis.

 Merlin arrives to rescue Arthur before Mim can destroy him, and Mim challenges Merlin to a duel with the witch.

Although Mim cheated, Merlin outsmarted her by turning into a germ and infecting her, illustrating the importance of knowledge over power.

 On Christmas Eve, Kay was knighted. When Hobbs suffers from mumps, Ector reappoints Arthur as Kay's bodyguard, prompting him to gladly deliver the news to his teacher.

Archimedes congratulates him, but Merlin, thinking Arthur left education, reprimands him for remaining under Kay's supervision. When Arthur replies that he is lucky, Merlin angrily transfers himself to 20th-century Bermuda.

 At the tournament, Arthur realizes he left Kay's sword at the inn. It was closed for the tournament, but Archimedes saw "The Sword in the Stone", which Arthur had omitted easily, unknowingly fulfilling the prophecy.

When Arthur returns with a sword, Ector recognizes him and the tournament is stopped. Ector puts his sword back on its runway, asking Arthur to prove that he pulled it.

He pulls it once more, revealing that he is the rightful king of England, earning the respect of Ector and Kay as well as an apology from Ector.

 Later, the newly crowned King Arthur sat in the throne room with Archimedes, feeling unprepared for the responsibility of ruling a country.

 Merlin returns from Bermuda and decides to help Arthur become the great king he had predicted.
