Students in Grade 3 High School after the exam are no activities in school. They will only come if there is a schedule of diploma photos or return a loan certificate from the school library, or take care of administration. Sometimes there are also exculpatory activities that gather just to fill free time while waiting for the diploma to come out and also the members of the board of OSIS who are busy coordinating the farewell event.
That day Ayudia and Elvira and David deliberately went to school because there was a parting business. They were chosen as committee. In fact, Ayudia later became a representative speaker from the 3rd grade. But that day he wanted to leave the task to others. Really, he won't be ready to talk in front of everyone while he doesn't know where to go to college.
At first he accepted the task because he was confident that he would be able to boast of his achievements netted on the full scholarship of his target university. But what power, because all that has not been done, he was no longer interested in becoming the speaker. It is unfortunate that Ayudia always feels proud when getting a lot of praise from people.
“I'm backing down, yeah. You guys please find my replacement,” said Ayudia at that time who just made an uproar throughout the OSIS room. Preparations are almost okay and will change some of the arrangements if Ayudia retreats now.
“But, Brother. It's too tight to back off. Who will replace it?” The chairman, Hilda, a second-class child, strongly protested Ayudia's decision.
“Many, really. It was Elvira also can,” said Ayudia seenaknya who also directly mengpaat pelototototan from Elvira.
“Why, Him? Kan initially you really want to fill that part,” asked Elvira astonished at the sudden unilateral decision of her best friend.
“Sorry, El. But you know, I've not been excited since I knew I didn't get away. I don't think I'll be at a farewell event either. So for free you guys maksa, I will not leave.” After saying so, Ayudia immediately rushed out of the room without compromising anymore.
“Loh, Dia! He wait!” Elvira and David follow while running small, leaving the children of class 2 OSIS core managers who become clubby looking for a replacement for Ayudia.
Ayudia had already run away outside the school. He immediately boarded the angkot to go home regardless of the call from David and Elvira. Truly, he could not hold back the tears on his cheeks. He even had to endure the embarrassment in front of David who actually occupied a place in the corner of his heart. Even though he kept that feeling so tight that no one knew about it.
“Why Dia?” David asked Elvira who shook her head not understanding either.
“Pity the heck he is actually still devastated because he failed to enter the scholarship selection full UI,” said Elvira expressed her conjecture.
“Because he did not want to deal with school anymore and did not even want to come to the farewell event anymore. Shouldn't have gotten to it, huh? I think he was never felt the name of failure before, so failure this time really makes it down really,” continued Elvira concerned.
David nodded his head trying to understand. He had never seen Ayudia fail in the field of achievement. So of course for Ayudia is not easy to rise up and ignore his negative thoughts about the opinions of people about him who did not pass the scholarship selection.
“Yes the mental type of people can be different, Vid.” The wise Elvira can always find the good side of everyone. He is very sociable and can be friends with anyone because he can understand that everyone has their own advantages and disadvantages. Elvira is the type of person who puts more emphasis on what happens, there must be someone who regulates.
David looked in admiration at ElvIra. The girl indeed often made him amazed even with his usual attitude. Yes, David was indeed a long time ago felt for Elvira, Ayudia's closest friend. Somehow will Ayudia feel when she knows about it. Will it be more broken than ever? Or will you be happy with the happiness of your friend?
Even David has also been fixed to enroll in the same University with Elvira. Not difficult for him because he is also quite accomplished and family finances are qualified. It seemed that their relationship was both as if the universe was blessing. Although different faculties, but if still one university can still meet often.
“You are the speaker, El. You are an idol of 3.” grade children concluded David finally.
“Hah? What idol! Goddamnit! Nyindir ya you?” Elvira was shocked to hear the words from David just now.
“Ish! Don't condescend. Indeed, you are not as flashy as Ayudia his achievements, but about your nature is the same, you win a lot. Look who has more friends between you and Ayudia? You right? Where has he ever had another friend besides you, anyway?” and David again.
And that's true. Ayudia was too proud of another friend whom she considered inferior to her. He likes to be picky friends and only Elvira who snaggup survive close friends in his country. It was because Elvira pity because she saw Ayudia who always seemed alone, unlike other girl friends who often clustered when the break time or hour came home.
Finally it was decided Elvira who replaced Ayudia later as a speaker at the 3rd class farewell event. Despite having insisted on picking Ayudia up to the house, it turned out that she still did not want to attend the event. Ayudia too overreacted to her failure, as if her life was instantaneously over just because of that.
Now as a result he became more and more friendless, the more missed opportunities that could have come from many other directions than what he was after. For example, what happened to his friend who continuously checked the announcement in the Counseling Guidance room, looking for another scholarship gap that can be penetrated, because certainly not only one way is available, right?
Ayudia did not want to try again because she had been heartbroken since the first time. He felt played by fate when it was just a pebble of test that hit precisely to make it stronger and stronger as long as he wanted to survive standing upright and struggling.
Unfortunately Ayudia chose to stop and cry over the one closed door, not realizing that there were actually many other doors of opportunity that were open for her to enter. What a double loss. By the time he had risen from his pill cry, it was already too late. Only a steep road remained that was difficult to reach because it had to compete with thousands of other students who could have been much smarter than him, much greater than his approach to His Lord.
Well, life is really a struggle. And the winners are those who never stop stepping even if only step by step. There is no need to run fast if the end will only be exhausted and spend much longer to rest.
