Chapter 23 The Assault on Isabella

Chapter 23

Isabella could not answer Audrey's question, she was trying to think of the right answer so that they would not suspect her.

"Why don't you answer? I asked what is this? why do you have this? what your job may have been all this time is …." Audrey could not continue her words, there was a sense of disappointment implied by Audrey's facial expression.

"What's discovered? how's this .. What should I do?" isabella's mind is getting restless.

Audrey stopped crying and looked at Isabella's face and asked, "So I've misunderstood you? if it's true then, why do you have that brooch?"

"That's ... ah! it belonged to Allred, actually I left the village because Allred took me on an adventure with him. My job is to bring her things, so when I come back here maybe I forget that there are still things left behind, it's only natural that there are so many things." Finally Isabella got a good reason to avoid big problems.

Audrey smiled and hugged Isabella, apologizing to Isabella and Callix for overreacting to such trivial issues. Isabella's past makes Audrey feel anxious, and Isabella tells her.

Soon Jasper had returned after taking out the trash, so they could eat together. Audrey's delicious cuisine makes Isabella feel beautiful back home, for a long time she did not enjoy this particular avoidance well.

The next day Azar did further research by monitoring Isabella's residence. After Isabella's pastry shop began to bustle with visitors, Azar was in action to break through Isabella's house when Jasper and others were hit by busyness..

"The house is simple, and ordinary," Azar's inner self when he managed to enter Isabella's residence.

Azar checked all the rooms in Isabella's residence one by one, he looked for where Isabella's room was, until finally he opened Isabella's room on the 2nd floor and the last room.

"High quality beef." Isabella muttered while biting her pillow.

Azar pulled out her dagger and walked closer to the bed, Azar wanted to take Isabella's blood for the duke so that they could more quickly make sure he was the son of the duke or not.

Just as Azar was about to slice Isabella's hand, Isabella blocked Azar's hand and kicked Azar's head until she fell to the floor. But what amazed Azar was, Isabella attacked him with her eyes closed.

"Good meat should not be naughty," said Isabella who is still delirious and even stood on the bed and ready to hit Azar. Azar did not even get a chance to see where Isabella took the dagger that was currently in her hands.

Isabella attacks Azar like attacking a person in a conscious state, she knows when to attack, and knows when to avoid a counterattack.

"Damn! if it continues like this then there will be some of us who are seriously injured, irritating," inner Azar.

No no no ….

The sound of footsteps approached Isabella's room. Azar had no other choice, he had to seriously attack Isabella this time. He dodged Isabella's attack and stabbed Isabella in the shoulder, causing Isabella to wake up.

Their gazes met, but Azar immediately turned her gaze away. The sharp gaze from Isabella was able to make her shudder in horror. Then before the footsteps got closer, he pulled his dagger back and fled through the window.

"Kyaaaaa .. Isabella, what happened?" audrey's hysterical screams were heard outside Isabella's residence.

Isabella did not reply, she just stared out the window and kept thinking about the identity of the man who had just attacked her. If the man could enter his residence easily then he was a robber or a thief, because after a good look the man did not open the closet or desk drawer belongs to Isabella. Her thought.

At a glance Isabella saw the man wiping his blood with a handkerchief, Isabella kept thinking what purpose came was her blood? if so, then it might have something to do with Isabella's real parents.

But something like this never happened in the novel, the duke did ask people to do an investigation just never to attack Isabella. Has the plot changed? isabella's thoughts continue to rage looking for the reason behind this attack.

"Thank God you're fine, the wound is deep enough. But it's not life-threatening" Audrey said after treating Isabella's wounds.

Isabella, who was still deep in her own thoughts, did not listen to any of Audrey's words. This made Audrey think Isabella was in severe shock because of the attack, she just did not know if at this time Isabella's mind floated somewhere.

Audrey closes Isabella's door, and she goes back to the store and tells her everything that happened. Hearing that Callix was shocked even to the point of crying while Jasper, he was just like Isabella immersed in her own thoughts. Jasper thought that if the feeling of being watched that he felt yesterday, it must have something to do with today's assault. If it was true then Jasper would not have guessed if that person would have acted this fast.
