After lying down for a long time and closing his eyes, Carl's fingers moved faintly. "Mom, Carl's sober!" Shouted Ken to Alicia, in this room there are still quite a few people who are always waiting for Carl's recovery.
Alicia quickly walked towards Carl's bed, Carl's creeps began to open his eyes, the light began to be seen. "Carl, honey, are you awake?" Alicia asked who sounded so worried and excited as well.
Carl's head felt so heavy, his body felt limp. "Mom will call Dad first, you call the doctor dear" Alicia said so enthusiastically to Ken, she quickly walked out of Carl's room, following Richard who was having lunch downstairs with Agatha.
"Let me, baby," Valerie said, helping Ken, he took his cell phone and called the doctor who used to come every morning to check on Carl's progress. For three months Carl lay unconscious, the first month Carl was left to sleep in a Washington hospital, however, due to the considerable distance to the workplace, all of them and some journalists who kept coming made Carl transferred to a Los Angeles hospital with better care, various efforts have been taken, bring the best doctors and always get the same results, Carl never realized since the accident, only a hose that continues to stick in Carl's body.
"Can you hear my voice?" Ken asked, Carl seemed to open his eyes several times, he looked around, his body was so limp and it felt empty.
"Amber?" The question becomes the initial word Carl said, Valerie who just finished with her cellphone walked closer to Carl's bed. "Where's Amber?" Ask Carl back.
"Can't you just focus on yourself? You almost died just looking for that woman!" Ken said, Valerie can only calm Ken by rubbing her husband's arm.
Carl shook his head weakly, his facial features instantly panicked. "Amber hasn't come back yet? Since when do I lie here? I have to find Amber back!" Carl began to rebel with his weak strength, he tried to remove the infusion hose in his hand.
"Carl! Be aware, Amber wants to be free of you, if she really loves you she should be back at you, taking care of you who lay 3 months here! Butwhat? He didn't show me the stem of his nose at all!"
"Darling!" Valerie's whisper was quite loud, she shook her head at Ken. "Carl just realized, don't use a loud tone on her," whispered Valerie beginning to weaken.
"What's? 3 months? It can't be that long, Amber must be waiting for me to pick her up, she must have been kidnapped, didn't you guys look for her? Amber and Earl are freaking out and waiting for me!" Carl starts to get hysterical, he tries to get up from his sleep, Carl hands brushed the blanket quickly along with the door of the room that opened, while both parents and grandmother came with a happy face.
Agatha walked quickly towards Carl, she was about to hug Carl but quickly shook her head. "My dear grandson, what's wrong? I miss you so much" murmured Agatha softly.
"What is all this?" Carl asked looking confused, he turned his eyes on the two legs that were just silent on the bed, he had difficulty to move away, his legs seemed to not function with the orders of his brain. "What's wrong with my leg? I felt nothing," murmured Carl, his voice trembling and Agatha's embrace began to be felt.
"Am I paralyzed Grandma?" Carl asked in disbelief, he looked at everyone around him with a question mark, his heart as if crumbling to see everyone just speechless. "Am I paralyzed? I'm paralyzed!" Carl started screaming.
"The doctor is on his way, baby, let him check on you first" said Alicia, her eyes glazed over.
"Mom—" call Carl. "I have to find Amber and Earl, they've been waiting for me, but my legs are—"
"Honey, calm down, your legs are fine, we can do therapy, Mom will always accompany you until you can walk back," Alicia whispered gently, saying, kissed Carl's head slowly while holding back his tears.
"But Amber how's Mom? Earl's doing what? I miss them!" Carl's sister, her heart felt so tight, she began to sob when her hands hit her feet, almost unable to feel any pain.
Richard took a deep breath, seeing Carl's fragile state made him unbearable. "It's Carl, just let Amber go with her choice, she didn't come at all to see how you were, focus on your treatment" Richard said.
Carl shook his head quickly, laughing bitterly in the middle of his cries. "Save off? No, Dad, Amber and my Earl, they love me, don't you see the happiness of my little family? It's all like a dream, I'm back to losing it." Carl's voice began to weaken, he cried, there was no more pain that could exceed this. The pain and loss that Carl felt seemed to be traumatizing for Carl.
Ken can't see Carl's creepy, he's upset about all the bad things that destroyed Carl. "It's Carl, there's no need to cry for the woman who left you, focus on your recovery, the doctor says there's still a chance you can walk back. Anyway, if you're looking for Amber now, will Amber be with the guy in the wheelchair? If the woman is sincere, she may still choose to be with you, you're fine she's leaving you" Ken said unknowingly. "Focus on yourself first," continued Ken began to weaken, he closed his eyes for a moment, Valerie hugged him slowly.
"You're right, I'll just trouble Amber. Then why don't I just die? Why should I be paralyzed and useless like this?" Carl replies while yelling at Ken.
"Carl! Don't talk like that baby, we're all there for you, never talk like that again" Alicia said.
Carl was silent, he no longer understood what he had to do in his life, everything was destroyed, his hopes, his dreams, do not ask for a career, he said, everything seems like nothing else can make Carl excited.
