Chapter 7: You are getting further and further away

Shania sits listlessly on the living room couch on her return from shopping with her mom, the door she left open showing the view of the garden on her face, some blooming roses causing butterflies to perch on it. Shania smiled at the view plus the speck of rain that began to fall soaking the plants made the butterfly fly irregularly away from the rain that was getting heavier.

The smell of dry soil that is swept by rainwater is a sign of thirst during the dry season waiting for rain. For a moment Shania closed her eyes recalling her conversation with mama a few hours ago.

Flasbacks

"Shania, I'm sorry if you were not comfortable with the conversation mama and Jesica" said mama opened the conversation while waiting for their order to be served

"it's okay ma" replied Shania smiling reassuringly

"Shania can tell who Jesica is? why do you look not like it" asked Jesica pretending not to know him even though she knew that Jesica was Agam's lover even now Shania had to hide the fact of their marriage from her parents.

"Jesica is..."

Mom's words stopped for a moment

"if mom refuses to tell Shania then don't need a story ma"

"you should know how dear, mama hopes that your marriage and Agam will be stronger from day to day without any interference from Agam mass" explained mama

"Jesica was Agam's lover before getting married to you, they were long enough to be in a relationship but mom and dad never approved of their relationship, several times mama had caught Jesica walking with other men but she claimed that it was her cousin" continued mama

Mom was silent for a moment before continuing her story

"because we never agreed to their relationship made Agam so much disputing that even we often quarreled because of this problem, explained mom about the man you met with Jesica Agam never believed it" continued mama tell masalalu Agam

"until finally mama fell ill because she thought too much about Agam, mama was afraid that her son would only be used by Jesica"

Shania focused on listening to mama's story while occasionally drinking milkshakes and cakes that had been served in front of them.

"after my mother was sick, Agam just softened, he promised to keep his distance from Jesica until he found out the truth about the man you were referring to, until you two got married" continued mama at the end of a sweet smile staring at Shania who was engrossed in eating a piece of cake

"thankfully ma" said Shania trying to stay calm to hide everything even though in her heart wanted to tell the real facts about Agam and Jesica's marriage.

Telling the life of marriage that Shania and Agam live, but see mama who so much hope in their marriage it feels like Shania does not have the heart if she has to break it at the age of marriage that is not even one month.

Shania assured herself that she would be able to survive this marriage and was sure that one day Agam would see her existence.

"is something bothering you Shan?"asked the mother who noticed Shania was silent after hearing the mass story of Agam and Jesica

"no ma, it's already a matter of Agam" Shania tried to smile to convince her in-laws that she was not at all disturbed by the story she told

"boy, you are very understanding, my mother always prays in every prayer for your marriage to be happy"

"aamiin" replied Shania mutely considering he also had the same prayers and hopes

"at the dinner, we will continue shopping again" Shania smiled again

Flasback off

"why didn't Shania shut the door? it was raining heavily" asked Bi Marni to close the door

"don't close bi, just pay"

"pay it," said Shania while nodding and raising both eyebrows understand bi Marni's intentions but she deliberately did this

"it's fine, but not too long later mbak Shania can be sick because the angi is quite tight"

"yes, just a minute"

"excuse me for going back"

"yes" replied Shania nods to let bi Marni leave because she really wants to keep quiet enjoying the rain alone.

The rain never subsided when the sun was completely sunk, Shania who was still silent in the corner of the sofa was reluctant to move, the wind was getting colder entering the living room where both doors were still open,the floor was partly wet by rainwater carried by the strong wind that penetrated into the living room but as if no matter Shania still ignored it.

Bi marni also only dared to look at the master from behind the walls of the living room with the TV room, did not dare to reprimand him again, he said, visible from the look of the face is a lot of thought so that bi Marni chose to leave Shania pensive deliberately provide space for her to be alone.

"and at this hour you have not returned home yet" muttered Shania who saw her hourglass had written at seven in the evening.

Shania let out a long sigh, calming her still-volatile heart.

Just as Shania was about to close the door as Agam's car arrived, Shania chose to wait for him to enter.

"go home" she followed by kissing her husband's hand

"your bathtub is wet" said Shania Semabari carrying the Agam suit she took off as soon as she entered the house

Agam passed without answering Shania a word, Shania stopped her steps disappointed to see Agam's response as if she did not see his existence.

Shania chose to ignore her feelings and went to the kitchen to make hot tea for Agam so that her body was warm because it was wet with rain water.

"mas, here I bring hot tea" said Shania approached Agam sitting on the lip of the bed after bathing

"yes, "sahut Agam received the cup of tea that Shania offered

"where are you going?" shania asked astonished to see Agam immediately standing with his cellphone wallet and car keys.

"i have business, no need to wait for me because I'm not coming home tonight"

Shania was silent for a moment

"are you going to Jesica's?" shania asked without looking into Agam's eyes

"do I still need to answer?" said Agam ketus while slamming the door of the room quite hard

Shania's tears escaped from the corner of her eyes, sobbing in the heavy rain that battered Jakarta, without anyone hearing her screams. Shania has no room to devote all of it, she can only get through all of this on her own.

Seeing Agam even willing to break through the rain to meet Jesica further makes Shania hurt, it feels like there is no room in Agam's heart for him.

Shania sat down to embrace the legs she had folded, drowning her head between them, crying out loud all the disappointment and heartache she felt.

"I must how to maintain this marriage, O Lord, much hope for our marriage" shania muttered while sobbing considering how this marriage became the focus of hope of both their extended families be it Agam family or both parents themselves.

I don't know how long Shania was crying in the rain to make her tired and finally fell asleep by herself. The rain that is getting nightly is getting more and more like God's help to provide coolness for Shania's heart.
