Chapter 2: Breakeven

"Hiiro-san, there's something I want to talk about. Can you meet me he's on the hospital roof now?!"  Emu's voice contacted Hiiro via his phone right after Hiiro entered the CR.

"What's the internship? To the point now!" Reply Hiiro who looks tired. How not to get tired, he had just completed an operation that took quite a long time and now just wanted to sit down and eat something sweet to relieve his fatigue.

"I beg you, Hiiro-san! It won't take long! I promise!" emu's whining to Hiiro makes Hiiro give up.

"All right! All righty! Wait for me there!" Hiiro answered and hung up and headed to the hospital roof.

Emu was sitting in a corner on the outskirts of the building. His face looks agitated. His heart was beating so fast that it felt hard to control it. Emu held her chest and tried to regulate her breathing so that her heart beat more regularly. For some reason he suddenly wanted to escape from that place. But his legs were too limp to do that. Did he just hide and cancel his intention of talking to Hiiro. Yes, it seems like he better hide out soon before Hiiro comes!

"Oi, Internship!" call Hiiro stop Emu's steps who plans to escape.

"Damn!" emu's curse in his heart turned out that the step he took was too late. Emu turned towards Hiiro and revealed a forced stiff smile.

"Yuri-hiiro-san! get here quickly!" emu asked nervously when she saw Hiiro coming and started to approach her.

"I happened to be in CR when you called me. So it didn't take long to get here." It was clearly Hiiro who had been right in front of Emu.

"So! What do you want to talk about internships!?" asked Hiiro without further ado which made Emu more and more misbehavior. His face was red and his breath was stifled. 

"Hi-hiiro-san? I-actually I wanted to say that I-I.a-ku.." Emu's voice squeaked almost inaudibly, his face flushed let alone Hiiro was now right in front of him.

Hiiro who saw Emu's face that began to redden then held the young doctor's forehead and checked his condition.

"Internship? You sick? Your face flushed?" tanya Hiiro is making Emu more heated.

Chu~

Emu subconsciously kissed Hiiro's lips gently, then looked at Hiiro who was surprised by Emu's unusual attitude.

"I like you Hiiro-san" 

Hiiro just looked at Emu and was speechless. Hiiro's face turned into ruffled and furious. He didn't expect Emu would do anything so far. He's not comfortable with any of this. Hiiro still can't open his heart to anyone other than Saki, even to Emu who has been a close friend all along.

Seeing the look on Hiiro's face that was so riled up and upset, Emu began to understand if he had made a fatal mistake. With a downcast face he retreated slowly then turned his back to Hiiro. 

Ah, you are so stupid and naive Emu! How could Hiiro the most popular handsome doctor in this hospital have the same feelings for him. Emu's body trembled withstanding the tears that welled up in her eyes. 

For a while they just fell silent and said nothing. The air around him turned awkward and gloomy. Until finally Hiiro who feels guilty for making things uncomfortable to speak.

"Gommenin!" hiiro said sincerely to Emu. Immediately Emu understood where Hiiro was going. It seemed like Hiiro was rejecting his feelings.

"Come, Hiiro-san. Thats okay! I understand." said Emu lirih. 

"It's okay Hiiro-san. I'm fine!" emu said turning her body back against Hiiro.

Smile on Emu's pink lips. The smile he forced in the middle of his broken heart melted into dust grains swept away by the wind. 

Tests..

Tears began to melt from the corner of Emu's eye. Hiiro who saw that grabbed Emu's hand with a restless face. Her feelings hurt when she saw Emu shed tears. But Hiiro can't explain why he hasn't been able to accept Emu's feelings for her.

"You, me, me.." 

Emu gently removed her hand from Hiiro and wiped her own tears and smiled towards Hiiro.

"It's okay Hiiro-san! I-i understand. I had expected Hiiro-san to reject me. Stupidly, I am still trying to express my feelings to you Hiiro-san." Remark Emu while wiping her tears again that did not stop coming out of her beautiful round eyes.

"I know Hiiro-san still loves Saki-san very much. I should have realized all that. But instead of letting go of my feelings for you, I kept it up to grow uncontrollable. Until I can no longer control the feelings that now rule my entire soul."  Emu seems to be trying to toughen up but there is no denying that Emu's voice sounds so naughty.

"Therefore let me bear all this Hiiro-san" added Emu who then began sobbing.

Tears did not stop dripping from Emu's eyes. Hiiro doesn't know what to do. Understanding the woman's feelings was beyond the ability of the genius doctor. No scientific theory can convey clearly how to understand the creature of God named WOMAN.

"Hiiro-san, you can leave me alone. I don't want Hiiro-san to see me screwed up like this!" Said Emu quietly while lowering her face. Avoiding eye contact with Hiiro.

Hiiro is confused and does not know what to do. Should I comfort her or should I explain why I can't return her feelings. Hiiro snorted and ruffled his hair in confusion.

"Please!" pinta Emu pleaded with Hiiro. With a heavy breath Hiiro nodded and left Emu alone on the roof of the hospital. Maybe it's better this way. Emu is a strong woman, heartbreak is impossible to hurt her Hiiro thought as she walked away from where Emu was standing.

After Hiiro leaves leaving on his own, Emu's defense weakens and collapses rapidly. His feet were weak for a moment. He tried to stand with support on the wall there, but then his slender body fell down . Her crying broke right then and there. He had not expected the pain he was feeling at this moment to be completely unable to endure. Though he had trained to control feelings if later Hiiro rejected him. But theory is not the same as practice. The pain made his soul scream loudly. Is this what you call a broken heart? Shouldn't he be used to it. After all, since long ago his father and mother had given him the same pain as this when ignoring him. But why did his heart not want to be friendly with the pain?

"Oh God! Is there no true love left for me? Let me wash my heart with the one who wants me, Lord!" groan Emu in his prayer.

It took a while for Emu's tears to recede and dry up. Now he just bowed his breath long. What he had to do now was to gather the fragments of his heart that were scattered at that time. Trying to reunite him on the part of his soul that disappeared. I don't know how long, but at least he should try.

"Your? Daijoubou?" suddenly Poppy's voice was nearby. Emu turned her head and saw that Poppy was already sitting next to her. With a soothing face Poppy hugged Emu and patted her back gently.

"Swimming Emu! Everything's gonna be fine. I'm still here for you." Once again Emu's cries broke and soaked Poppy's clothes. Poppy hugged the body of her best friend who was shaking violently with Erat. Poppy can't see Emu so devastated by her feelings. Poppy knows Emu has a sensitive feeling, but Poppy doesn't know it can kill him slowly. He then promised himself. He will return Emu's smile like Emu who can always bring back the smiles of the people he helped.

  I promise Emu.
