Breathless
Chapter 9: Obsession

Date drove the car while whistling happily. His mind always imagined the expression of Emu's face that excites every time he gives 'sign of affection' in the body of his idol. The 'painful' sound that emu's peach lips make has always been the most beautiful song that Date heard and became his own opium for her. For him Emu is heroin that he can not escape and become a necessity for himself. His face, his voice, the look in his eyes and even more so his body. His desire of every 'tasting' of the body could not be replaced any enjoyment in this world. Her wild fantasies always managed to be realized when she was with the Heroin. There was no other woman he wanted other than an Emu. Date won't let Emu out of his grasp.

"I'll marry you soon, my dear! After that nothing can separate the two of us forever. I'll take you far away from here!" Guman Date looks at the ring he has prepared to marry Emu.

"Well! Tomorrow I'll tie you up with me forever!" Date grinned happily while driving his car faster.

As soon as he passed the main road to Emu's apartment, Date heard the siren sound of an ambulance. The ambulance overtook him and stopped in front of the Emu apartment complex. Date stopped his car at the corner of the road and turned off the engine. Date got out of the car wearing a thick jacket, mask and goggles. Seen in front of the complex has gathered many people who want to know what happened. How shocked Date was when he saw Ambulance officers carrying Emu accompanied by Kiriya and Pallad.

"SHIT!! Those two assholes!!" Date growled furiously when he saw Kiriya and Pallad who managed to take Emu away.

"Curtain! I will not forgive! No one can touch my bride!" Date's anger overflowed, he immediately went following the ambulance that took Emu away.

Arriving at the hospital, Date parked his car some distance away from the hospital . He doesn't want anyone to know that he's been following Emu here. Date covered his head with the hood of his jacket and fixed his mask so that no one would recognize him. He walked slowly towards the ER and saw everyone was too busy to notice himself. Their views were all fixed on Emu's extremely severe condition. He hides behind an ER room wall when he sees an angry Haima talking to an ambulance officer about Emu's suicide attempt.

"A suicide? That damn woman wants to get away from me?!" Emotional gum. 

"I won't let you leave me, EMU!" Say it again with a huffed face. 

Date saw too many people were in the ER, let alone all of Emu's friends were there too. Date decided to leave immediately and devise another plan. Either way, Emu must immediately be taken from the hands of his friends. He won't let Emu out of her life. No one can have his beloved heart.

"How is he doing?" Kiriya asked in a soft voice to Hiiro who was still faithfully sitting beside the bed where Emu lay for two days while giving Hiiro a warm cup of coffee.

"Arygato!" Hiiro thanked Kiriya and sipped his coffee slowly.

"Nil, he's still unconscious!" Hiiro continued his sentence after getting a light stimulation to his body from the warm cup of coffee Kiriya gave.

"Have a break Hiiro! You need to rest! These two days you're just going back and forth from this room to the operating room!" Omel Kiriya who was irritated because Hiiro started to neglect his health.

"See face! Holy hooch! It's like a living corpse!" kiriya added, pointing at Hiiro's pale face and the dark circles in her eyes that were becoming more and more visible.

Hiiro only snorted to hear Kiriya who suddenly grumbled at length. Hiiro doesn't seem to care about anything. Now only Emu was on his mind. He only wanted to be near Emu when the young doctor opened his eyes.

Kiriya exasperatedly ended up sitting on the sofa in the corner of the room after Hiiro ignored her scolding and noticed Hiiro who was looking at Emu with great care. There is a sense of pity to see the genius doctor looks frustrated and like losing his spirit in life. Then he turned his gaze to Emu who was lying unconscious with a body full of bandages and a very pale and sweet face. Naturally Hiiro looks frustrated, the scenery looks really heartbreaking. Even Kiriya who saw Emu's situation could only pray, that all Emu's suffering could end and the woman he loved could find true happiness.

"Have you heard from Kuroto and Pallad?" Suddenly Hiiro's question breaks Kiriya's daydream.

"Not yet!" Kiriya replied shaking her head.

"The last time they called, they haven't found any trace of that son of a bitch!" added Kiriya while laying down on the sofa.

"And Taiga?" Ask Hiiro again 

"Eitherway! Maybe with Poppy and Nico!" kiriya replied shrugging her shoulders and then re-positioning herself as comfortably as possible on the sofa. 

 The sound of the door opening. Kiriya got up from the sofa while Hiiro was still staring and holding Emu's hand.

"Searching?" Taiga's head appeared from behind the door followed by Nico and Poppy who were behind him. The three of them came in with food and some bottles of mineral water. Poppy and Nico immediately sit on the sofa with Kiriya who looks happy with the food brought by them. Taiga approached Hiiro and invited him to eat.

"Come, Hiiro! Eat first! You're not going anywhere!" taiga said persuading the genius doctor who had ignored his invitation to eat. Taiga continues to urge Hiiro until Hiiro finally gives up and follows Taiga to the sofa joining Poppy, Nico and Kiriya who are devouring his food.

A few minutes later Kuroto, Pallad and Haima joined them. 

"Damn it! Tracking Date wasn't as easy as I thought!" Kuroto sighed in annoyance and started to massage her head which felt dizzy from being tired.

"Can't the police track Date either?" ask Taiga who looks worried. Emu will not be safe if the depraved man has not been found.

"Let's just relax, the police just discovered a new fact about Date. Shinosuke-kun is on his way here to give us the latest information." Haima said while enjoying Tiramisu purchased by Poppy and Nico.

Those who heard Haima's words became curious. What facts did the police find. Can it support them to find Date and launch a plan they made to teach Date a lesson? 

Hiiro finished his meal and immediately sat down next to Emu followed by a concerned look by everyone in the room. They felt that Hiiro was completely overwhelmed with a deep sense of guilt towards Emu. They had never seen Hiiro so messed up like this.

Hiiro held Emu's hand tightly, slowly kissing Emu's hand and praying that Emu could come to her senses and return to her. 

"Lord! Don't let Emu suffer again, I promise to make her happy as sincerely as possible. I promise I won't hurt her again. I promise to make her the happiest woman in the world! Give me a chance! I beg God! I beg!" pinta Hiiro in her prayer.

"Emph..." Suddenly Emu's fingers held by Hiiro moved and Emu let out a soft groaning sound, his body writhing slowly.

Hiiro's eyes widened to see the response Emu gave.

"Your?" Hiiro makes sure Emu hears it or not.

But suddenly Emu shouted, shocking everyone.

"Emu???!"

Emu let go of Hiiro's hand and held her head.

"Don't hurt me! I-please!" Emu's voice was seen by the nelangsa while holding his head and not wanting to see the people around him.

Hiiro tried to calm her down by holding her hand but her hand was brushed off by Emu quickly.

"Don't touch me Date-san!" Emu's stammering speech made everyone even more worried. He seemed to still be reminded of the violence that Date had done to him until he did not realize where he was now.

Taiga and Kiriya approach Emu trying to hold her to calm down but Emu retreats from her bed getting more and more frightened.

"I-I'm sorry, Date-san! Hiks Ma-pardon hiks a-me!" Rintih Emu covered his face and started crying.

Hiiro hugs her but Emu rebels with all her might,

"Emu! Awake, darling! It's me Hiiro! Remember Me!" Hiiro said frustratedly holding Emu who was still rebelling in his arms. 

"Ja-don't pu-hit a-I la-again! I-I jan-promise I-can't argue again!" Emu is raving more and more naughty. Nico and Poppy who see Emu destroyed are unable to hold back the tears, Kuroto and Pallad are seen injured to see Emu who is full of suffering. They could not hear the screams of the heart coming out of Emu's lips.

"Emu, baby! Comeon! Lookatme!" Isak Hiiro is devastated to see Emu being psychically and physically injured.

Slowly Emu ventured to see the face of the person who was hugging her.

"Hi-hiiro-san?" His speech was stammered when he realized that the one who hugged him was Hiiro, the man he loved until now.

Emu's cry exploded and hugged Hiiro tightly.

"You're evil Hiiro-san! Why don't you let me be like i-ni!" Isak Emu while hitting Hiiro's chest weakly.

Hiiro was getting crushed hearing Emu say that. The feeling of guilt in him grew stronger and his anger towards Date became more and more uncontrollable. He promised in his heart that he would destroy Date forever.

Emu emotions are getting uncontrollable. His roaring breath quickly made his heart beat uncontrollably. His eyes were emitting a deep feeling of fear. Emu became increasingly panicked and lost her mind. He violently let go of Hiiro's embrace and tried to release the infusion in his hand. Taiga held Emu's hand and prevented her from releasing the infusion. Emu begins to rebel, causing Kiriya and Hiiro to hold onto her other legs and arms.

"OI, CALL THE DOCTOR!" Shouted Kiriya with a frantic face trying to hold back Emu's Legs trying to kick in all directions.

Haima ran to call the doctor who handled Emu and immediately pulled her quickly towards Emu. Shouma immediately injected a sedative into Emu. As soon as the sedative reacted, Emu's resistance weakened. While sobbing Emu regained her composure and finally fell asleep with tears still remaining in the corner of her eyes

The entire person in the room began to sigh in relief. Hiiro, Taiga and Kiriya dropped down on the floor trying to calm down after the unexpected incident.

Shouma examined Emu carefully. Then he breathed heavily.

"As I expected, Houjou-sensei would have suffered a severe trauma if he regained consciousness!" sigh Shouma looked sad as he looked at Emu who had fallen asleep quietly due to the medicine.

"Better you get rid of the sharp and dangerous objects in this room! I'm afraid next time he'll hurt himself!" shouma advised pointing at items that could potentially be used by Emu to harm themselves.

"You must not leave Houjou-sensei alone, his condition is still vulnerable and unstable. Of course we don't want anything to happen to him, do we?" added Shouma followed by a nod of understanding.

"I'll leave some sedatives behind if this happens again. I believe in you guys, because you're doctors too. But remember not to just give sedatives. Only if Houjou-sensei is really out of control, understand?" Shouma said as he handed Hiiro the sedative and then immediately bailed back to his room.

"Will not let **** it's alive!!" Kuroto shouted while beating the wall looking very angry.

Kuroto really could not control his emotions anymore. Date has completely destroyed Emu's mentality and made her live with prolonged trauma. Sorry is not a proper word for Date right now.

Everyone looked at Emu with a look of sadness. Who could have seen Emu so broken like this. Just imagine Emu a pediatrician who is always cheerful, optimistic and kind with everyone indiscriminately. Emu who has always been the sun for all those who are nearby becomes a different figure 180°. Now Emu is plunged into darkness. There was no more light in his eyes, no more smiles adorning his face, all lost in the darkness.

"Director Kagami!" The voice of a man broke their daydream. A man with short hair and wearing a black suit walked in and bowed to Haima politely.

"Oh, Shinosuke-kun! You have arrived!" Ucapa Haima enthusiastically patted the young man on the back.

"You must know him, right?" Haima turned to the other CR members followed by their nods. Yes, Shinosuke is a Tokyo police detective who happened to be seconded to help Seito police about 11 months ago. Shinosuke is also one of Kiriya's closest friends. They began to become close friends since they often collaborated in several cases involving the police and forensic units.

"Long time, man!" Sapa Kiriya who looks happy when Shinosuke comes. They shook hands and hugged like old friends who had not met for a long time, then followed by other CR members who greeted Shinosuke warmly.

"I'm sorry, if I'm late to visit Emu-chan, Kiriko sends her regards for not being able to come see. How's he doing now?" shinosuke asked while handing over the fruit parcel he had brought for Emu to Poppy.

"There is still no meaningful development, even Emu just went berserk until finally given a sedative" Kiriya replied as she looked at Emu again who was asleep.

Shinosuke looked at Emu with a concerned face. That smile had completely disappeared from Emu's sweet face. The last time he met Emu, he could still smile, tell her about funny things and laugh with her and Kiriko. Now Emu looks like a soulless body, pale colorless.

"Ah, how is the development of the Emu case, has the police found the hideout**** it? Eh-sorry I mean Date?" Haima closed her mouth when she accidentally mentioned Date as*** and smiled awkwardly as everyone was shocked and laughed to hear Haima say those magic words.

"Ah, the Director should not hesitate to say if Date is ****! He is indeed an inexcusable!" shinosuke said, laughing.

"His obsession with Emu has crossed the line!" added Shinosuke with a serious face.

"But Date has only known Emu for a year but has been obsessed with it!" poppy sighed heavily.

"No!" said Shinosuke who surprised everyone.

"Eh? No? Date started working at this hospital about 10 months ago. So-so"

"Date's known Emu since college!" Shinosuke's rebut made everyone in the room glare in disbelief. Since college? How could?

Elsewhere in the same building a large man wearing all-black clothes stopped his van in the hospital parking area. He and the other two men in matching attire took several boxes that had many wires into their backpacks. The three of them scattered and placed the objects in several places in the outside area of the hospital. After they finished their work, one of the big men spoke with a communication device in his ear.

"Prepared is done, sir!  Waiting for the next command!" said the big man while listening carefully to the orders of the people who communicated with him.

"Come it!" They changed their clothes and immediately entered the hospital lobby.

"The mission starts now!"
