I rushed towards the front door, peeking for a bit. There's no one out there.
"Wulan, find who?" That voice, I turned around. I looked at it with wide eyes.
"Adit, since when did you come in?"
"The father opened the door for me. Just now." Smile them.
He is so different, his appearance is like a bodybuilder. Behind the shirt there is a protruding part of his arm. His muscles seemed to be in a revolt not to be covered.
"Lan, why daydream?" He drew closer until his breath felt on my face.
"I'm pangling to see you like this." I was embarrassed, looking down deep because I was caught gaping when I saw her. My hands spontaneously covered this mouth.
"Son Adit, let's have lunch first!" Finally, this breath returned to relief.
The awkwardness I felt began to melt away. My mother called him to eat with us.
"Good, Mom. Let's eat together, Lan!" Without my permission, his hand gripped this wrist. I tried to normalize the heartbeat that from the first time I saw it, this heart was pounding. He's really different from what he used to be. His appearance was like a metropolis man, wearing glasses that were not as thick as they used to be.
We sat around the dining table, Mom and Dad stealing glances a few times, looking at Adit.
"Dn't." I started the conversation. It felt stiff because no sound was heard other than the twang of the cutlery clashing with the dinner plate.
"Why, Lan?"
"Wait a minute, what is this ring? Why make on the ring finger?" Adit grabbed my left hand.
"Wulan's already engaged, Adit boy." Mother who solves.
"Owh, still engaged, ma'am. If Adit chases Wulan can still dong. As long as there is no kabul ijab." He smiled broadly.
"Not kidding!" You don't seem friendly.
"What's wrong, sir. It's just chasing, not marriage." I chimed in with the words of the Father while chuckling amusedly to see Adit's reaction.
"Here, eat first! Let's just talk in front." Mom's call made our conversation stop.
After a few minutes, the food on the plate was left unresponsive, except mine because it was lazy to eat. Me, Dad and Adit helped Mom clean the table, wash the dishes and cutlery. After everything was done, then we moved to the middle room.
"I'm sorry, Mom, sir. I'm troubling you guys. Where's lunch."
"Not a hassle, son. It just so happened that it was time for our lunch. So, yeah, we'll eat together." My mother smiled thinly. Unlike the Father who has since looked at Adit with a different view.
"Boy why would you let him come here? Father remembering? Wulan ajah pangling saw it." I pointed at the man with my chin.
"She showed me a picture of you in High School. That's why I believe he's really your friend."
"So that's what it looks like."
"Oh yes," I continued.
"Why are you suddenly looking for me? Is there anything important?"
"There, but we'll talk later." Adit whispered in the earlobe.
"Ehem," Deheman the Father made Adit keep his head away.
"Where do you work, Lan? Isn't today a work day?"
"I work at a coffee shop. The day after tomorrow there is a new branch opening. So, I'll rest for a while. I'm moving to a new place."
"Good then, I can make sure you walk dong. Later we will mutter-muter Jakarta city."
I looked at Father and Mother, they seemed reluctant to allow us both a walk.
"May, if you want to go for a walk, take Damar. It's not ethical for a woman to be engaged to be alone with another man." My father chimed.
"Heheh, yes, sir. Please just call Wulan's fiancee! Let the three of us talk a lot. I also don't have to bother to ask her permission."
"Wulan, call Damar now!"
"Yes, Sir. Later if we're going outside." It turns out you can be protective of me too.
"No need to be so flirtatious as young people!" whispered the Father whose voice we could still hear. Me and Adit can only mess around.
"I don't work, Mom. It's the owner of the gym here." I was amazed to hear the words that came out of his mouth.
"Oner? Jim's? What is it, son?" I laughed when I saw Mom who was clumsy.
"It's got a fitness place, Mom. So, he doesn't work, most monitor his men." I chimed in on Mother's words so she wouldn't misrepresent again.
"Owh, so. Great yeah, it's got a nes place, nes, it's. By the way nes, nes what's that?" You shook his head a few times. Pat Mom's thigh.
"Mother's just embarrassing you. So if you watch videos on social media, do not watch gossip about the artist! Watch the news and read the article, ma'am." You look furious to see Mother whose insight is limited.
"Hahaha, Mom and Dad are very entertaining. Sometimes it looks like you guys should go to Adit's gym. Let Adit give you a free member card."
"What, Son Adit? Duh, I'm embarrassed to go there. I never knew what nes was, nes." Mom nodded for a moment.
"Mom, the fitness center is where we can exercise using the tools available there," I explained.
"Owh, sports, gymnastics and robotics is that it?"
"No, Ma. If the gym is more relaxed muscle training." This time it was Adit.
"Have a strong body, son Adit. That's the practice." Mom stared in admiration at the man sitting on the single sofa.
"Mom, can we both go outside for a second?" asked Adit who made Mom and Dad look at me.
"Wulan wants to do it. It's almost afternoon, not night." I casually agreed with Adit. But, that became a matter of permission from Mother and Father.
"Father said, if you want to go, take Damar!"
"OK, let Wulan contact her fiance. We're both saying goodbye, sir, ma'am." Adit was like dragging me.
"Eh, wait a minute .. I'm gonna grab a bag and a hape."
"Yes, I'm waiting in front." Adit paid a farewell to both of my parents while I returned to the room.
Upon returning from the room, I prevented my move.
"Wulan, call Damar! We'll call him later as proof that you're going together. Just be careful if you lie," his threat glared.
"Nggeh, Sir. Just calm down! Wulan wouldn't lie."
"Wulan go, yes first." I shook his hand.
These feet stepped away, leaving the apartment unit. Adit was leaning against the corridor wall.
"Let's go!" He immediately pulled my arm. The two of us joined hands to the elevator door.
"Dit, don't gini! A lot of people, besides we're just temen. The yes time my hands are held together so, your boyfriend will be angry."
"Oh yeah, where's your boyfriend? Must be surrounded by pretty girls. You've changed." Unknowingly I looked at him. His jaw is a real man. So hard and frayed though thin.
"I don't have a boyfriend yet, Lan."
Tiii
The sound of the elevator doors opening made our conversation pause. We both got into the elevator. There was no one in it, just the two of us.
"You don't lie, Dit!"
"No, I'm not lying. I waited to propose to someone I liked for a long time, so I tried hard to get to this point. But, what a pity that person already has another man." Our views are clashing.
"Who is he? I know no? You said you liked him a long time ago, must be a schoolmate, right?"
The sound of the elevator doors opening did not distract us. Until someone speaks out loud.
"Wulan, you .. who is he?" The voice came from a man who had just entered the elevator.
Gawat, why meet this guy again.
Honestly, I was awkward to face Adit. The man looked at our faces in turn. There was a facial expression that I could not understand when he looked at Adit.
