Demon King

Demon King
Chapter 105 The Devil's Night [5]

The feathers of a crow flew in the air as its greatsword was stuck with enough force to burn the world. Even though I was far away from him thanks to Ubiquitous, I still needed to raise the Twilight Sword to defend myself.

[Hahaha! How fragile is your body now! You were like that after betraying everyone!]

His voice was light and cheerful, unlike his attacks.

“Khhh...!”

[Slightly left?]

My judgment was correct; which dark one of the man's attacks hit me.

“Ohhh.” I groaned, such a great shock that I felt like I was about to be crushed. I used Belkena's spell to cover my body with ice, but it wasn't enough to stop the fire completely.

“Jinma is there!”

They have two!

In the end, it worked out in some ways this angel confronted me. The demons that ran blindly recognized his enormous power and turned to face us. But to angels, they are just annoying little insects.

[There's nothing here for you to see.]

As he swung his sword, an explosion shook the ground. Dozens of demons were taken in just seconds, unable to regenerate from such severe destruction. I knew that well; after all, when I came into contact with him, it was all over.

[Are you secretly hiding? Why are you building a new castle? Oh, is that him? Does he encourage you?]

His gaze returned to me, the feather of the crow attached to the crown he was wearing fluttering, changing his handsome face.

‘This guy ..’ What's really annoying is how he throws out words that make me stop and think while suppressing his attacks.

[Fate, no! You need to evolve at least once more.].

[Well, this disturbing sound. This one fooled you, didn't it?]

[Don't listen to him! Like most demons, he could use it to sow discord!]

The angel shrugged, and I took my fallen great sword. Red lava started to rise from the ground where I was.

[Always being between kings and I love this.].

It was like lava was tracking me, filled with Jinma mana. I finally activated Predation, but there was no sense of relief. This person has the power to destroy half of my body in one blow; I have to be careful. It felt like when I was dealing with an L power, something greater than my own strength that I had to deal with desperately.

[You are just another demon!]

[If you still think he's the King, go back to your little hole!]

[Ha, you idiot!]

Lava collided with me right after I managed to separate the mana from the lava from which the warm and disgusting angel. It was impossible to avoid him with Ubiquitous the way he looked for me.

[The only reason I call him king is to laugh at him. It is impossible for a king without a crown to be recognized.]

It was hot, but even when it was cut in half, the Blood Baptism was able to block it. It felt strange to me being able to prevent the lava from hurting me, making me feel a little uncomfortable. My body must be in a strange state, half of it being destroyed by the Angels. But there was something strange about that - about the angel's first attack. But I don't have time to think about it. I jumped forward, lifting the lava with my mana to block the angel. I clasped the Twilight Sword tightly.

[.. Having lost everything, what is left of you is not so bad.]

The angel stroked his chin. I barely had time to consider how strange the signal was before the big black wolf that brought it screamed and started to narrow the distance between us. It shattered the traps I set up with Belkena Spell and Lunatic Trickster with ease.

[Sir, I don't think it will work.]

Explosions are blooming everywhere. I read the flow of mana, very careful to avoid it before they could hit me. By his standards, this explosion was only a fraction of his strength. On the other hand, I swung as hard as I could, and it didn't even bother him. The imbalance between our powers is too great.

‘Should I run?’ I felt a moment of hesitation, the angel sword cut through the air in front of me and brought out a huge wall of fire. It burns all thoughts of retreating.

‘She is strong.’ He's too strong. So much so that I wondered if I could even grab it with my sword. So, how great am I at devouring such a person? Since my evolution, I have not acquired any new skills, no matter how much I eat. But what if I use Predation on him? If I could eat the man who used this power that I did not possess, wouldn't I have acquired a new skill? The path of growth before me is limitless, as long as I can defeat him.

But then, what should I do? I have to finish regenerating, but if I continue to avoid his attacks without fighting back, it will only end in my defeat. So how? I had to hit him somehow.

[Are you not tired of living a life full of lies? Do you think you can make up for your betrayal by dying? Suicide will only make you look more miserable.].

Lightning appeared to withstand his pressure, Predation energy devouring some of the force as the two manas collided. Slowly, the distance narrowed, and the pressure got worse. But I'm not backing down. It wasn't easy to control, but the reward was huge. The black mine that overcame the pressure of mana gained enough strength to sustain itself, and the same prison I had built before slowly spread out to absorb mana. I did not let my Lunatic Trickster go to waste, turning the air inside this blackmines prison into my territory.

It gave me temporary relief from the pressure; the prison devoured mana and spewed out lightning. It was much narrower than the previous prison I had created, but that was all I could manage with my body in its current form.

[Huh, you mean you, who lost her name, power, and memory ... will try to devour me?!]

He filled his sword with ferocious fire again, and I jumped into space once more to get close to his face. His attack diverted, attacking where I was moving, but his strength was smaller behind him now. Lightning lit up again as I swung my sword to deal with the attack.

“Ahhhhhh!” My shoulder was pierced, and blood started to spurt like a fountain, but I didn't stop my attack. I stabbed him in the throat, black blood flowing from his wound.

[Khhk!]

[Destiny.]

The sound of rain was heard again, much calmer.

[Now I know, but he's also weakened. It might be for you!]

[While so, I am stronger than this shabby king!]

The black wolf howled loudly as the angel wings fluttered, calling out bursts of fire. I could feel the heat burning my lungs, and I jumped away.

[Running ?!]

The flame chased after me, pressing me with the promise of destruction. I kept shooting traps with the Lunatic Trickster and Belkena Spell wherever I could. The magic trap with the ice attribute had no real effect on angels, but it could weaken and fend off its abilities. The feeling of my weapon slid down his throat lingering in my hand. Contrary to his overwhelming strength, I now know that his body is not that strong. Reaper has bitten his neck. I have enough power to do it.

[Sir!]

His voice was hot and full of anger like his fire.

[Master, who destroyed the world. Who wants to forget the bad past and live in ignorance! Your Majesty, who broke the heart of every demon and caused the Great Unity!]

“What?!” I forgot that I should not react to his words and raised my head. She smiles.

[Of course, you were stupid to the end.]

His great sword, infused with fiery mana, descended before me, heading straight for my head. The sparks around my body disappeared without a trace; the attack happened too quickly for me to respond properly. In a split second, only his sword moved.

No, there's one more thing that's moving. A crystal appeared in the air in front of me, instantly recognizable as the Touch of the Goddess who always looked after me. It had been the source of my previous feelings of incongruity, having protected me from the initial attacks of the enemy and lava. It was slightly different from before, shining blue as if it was made of lightning. It was an artifact that even Rain did not know much about, but it was clear why it had changed. It absorbed all the mana I had used to create the lightning and would eventually reveal its true power now. The flaming great sword was stopped by the Goddess Touch, which began to release a large amount of electricity into the mana from the flame.

[Son!]

I heard the angel's scream, the incomparable horrible shriek of sound that he made as I pierced his neck. It would be foolish to miss this opportunity. What he said was still swirling around in my head, but I could think about it later. I jumped into space, concentrating all my mana into the Twilight sword. I put all my strength into it, activating Predation as I resisted the pressure coming from my enemies. My sword flashed, separating the angel's head from his body as he was electrocuted. His astonished performance was comparable to all the trouble he caused me.

But he's not dead. There were too many monsters in this world that would not die just because they were beheaded. Some of them were able to ignore the Reaper's strength. I could feel the heat rising from the core, trying to stop me. But I'm not worried about that. The best way to deal with the Devil is to commit yourself to attack, even if you might die from being hit. I continued slashing, allowing Predasi to overflow from me to swallow the head and crown of the crow that floated in the air. It all became the mana that was absorbed into my sword.

[Ohhhhhh!]

A scream exploded, though I don't know where it came from.

[You have gained 132,930 experiences.]

[Your level increased several times.]

[You get Lava Teeth.]

[You've got Feathers of a Fallen Angel.]

A welcome notification window popped up, and I could feel myself getting stronger both in body and soul. Leveling up as a higher level entity is so special that I will never forget it. But that's not all.

[Evolution is now available.]

I can feel it. The iron gate blocking me started to open.
