Demon King
Chapter 60 The Fifth Evolution [4]

If you are qualified to enter the 2nd floor of the Jinma Tower, you should already be level 80. I was sure that if I went straight there, then I would not be able to return for a while, so I delayed entering Jinma’s. tower until the time came.

And now, I have fulfilled the requirements of every quest except Jinma Tower and raised my level to the point where I am satisfied. I want to reach level 90, if possible. When I reached level 89, I couldn't even imagine how much experience I needed to level up. More than this, it cannot be delayed. I need to clean the basement as soon as possible.

To do that, I passed through the dark hallway and reached the fourth floor. After passing through the gate on the third floor, this dungeon was connected to a corridor. The walls seemed to be made of obsidian, similar to the fourth floor.

Instead, the 4th floor had high ceilings and wide corridors as if the palace had been renovated. Moreover, there was an abundance of life energy in the hallways outside the entrance. In short, there were at least top-tier high-class species scattered all over the floor. I assumed that the monster might be waiting for us outside, so I probably expected the worst.

“I'll be back.”

“I will only wander around the entrance until you return.” Lee Chan-yu said with a rather comfortable smile. He looked tense, but his recent evolution into a Beast Commander seemed to have instilled confidence in him. Moreover, the three hellhounds under his control seemed to be the most reliable protectors in an emergency.

“I will not use it as a shield, we will hunt together!”

“Ah.”

“Yes, I will not die, I manage myself well.”

I opened the door to Jinma Tower.

Far from the influence of Trickster .. No, the inside of the Jinma tower, which was revealed after Trickster's death that fooled me, was quite dark. But at least the light was bright enough for me to recognize A's face from across the room.

“You're late.” A said as soon as he saw me. His voice sounded, even at such a distance.

I thought I would see it as the first challenge on the second floor, but when I came to my senses, I felt a different pressure from him than when we first met.

First of all, he had an overburdened appearance. He's handsome and muscular, and he's big enough not to be pushed by a bugbear body like mine.

If Rain had a feeling that comforted people and L made people happy, then A made people feel overwhelmed. I felt like I was facing something vast and inhumane. Didn't people feel helpless in front of absolute beings? Yeah, silly discussing strength, but I think it might be A.

Is this something he did intentionally? Or is it because my senses have improved so I can see some of his skills?

“I have other things to do first,” I replied, struggling to get used to the pressure.

“Have you ever met him?”

Even though he doesn't know Rain, I don't think he will react to L. His reaction was so unexpected that I could not answer for a while. But there is no need to hide anything from him.

“Iya. He calls himself L. ”

“L..” He murmured then laughed.

A laugh?

For a moment, L's face appeared in my head. After all, her beauty was so incredible that even A was captivated. I don't know what A thinks of him, but it's surprising to see his expression change by mentioning L. Maybe the existence of A here has something to do with L.

However, he quickly turned his head to his expressionless face again.

“Two floors Jinma Tower. The enemy you will face is the legion that does not die. ”

I have not said that I will challenge the second floor. Moreover, this place seemed to be the same as the first floor. Are the first and second floors a play on words?

“When they no longer exist, that's when your challenge is complete.”

There was no time for me to think about what he was saying. Even before A finished speaking, the four walls stood up just like he did when I challenged the first floor of the tower.

I felt a bit of hatred in his words. I wondered if I was angry because I noticed A's feelings. Unnecessary anger I wish I could hide to the end.

There is no time for me to blame A. Even though the Scam was no longer around, a small black fog started to appear around me.

I only realized now that the walls were further apart from the first floor. I must say that the size of the arena has increased.

Then, they show up.

[Ha ha ha.].

[I feel the warmth.].

[It is the energy of life!]

Inside the black fog, there were monsters of various types but had similar characteristics. They had no blood, only rotting flesh and bones. I immediately realized what I was saying.

Those who are revived. Undead. There were so many things to summon them, but the undead were the worst enemies.

[Life is terrible!]

I have to fight this thing I can't eat!

‘I can't use inventory.’

With that, a lot of things I could do were gone. Most of my skills consume magic and stamina. The same goes for the special high-level skill ‘Ubiquitous’ that I synthesized some time ago. And it is because of this inventory that I can use, high consumption skills freely and can recover stamina and magic using Predation.

But what if I can't utilize Predation in battle? For example, what if the target was something I could not consume, like now?

[Oh oh oh oh.]

[Offer your blood!]

The only thing that can be consumed with Predation is ‘creature’. Of course, undead were not creatures. The skeletons, zombies, and ghosts that came back to life throughout the arena could not be consumed.

‘Then what should I do now..’.

It's simple. Even if it was a legion that could not die, it would be lost if it was destroyed. If I can figure out all their numbers and distribute my stamina and magic accordingly, I will complete this challenge.

First of all, I stay away from them. Because a monster appeared behind me. I swung the Blood Shadow, but unfortunately, I could destroy them with just that.

If I keep attacking, I can get rid of them. But just swinging a sword a few times will exhaust stamina even more than just using a skill.

In other words, I have to thoroughly analyze the power and magic consumed by all my skills and find the best course of action.

Among the skills I have, I use the skill that uses the least stamina: Speed Attack.

Compared to a normal attack, it consumed more, but it was more convenient than an ordinary attack as it was able to end three undead at once. As soon as I finished using the skill, I retreated and looked at the number of monsters, which reached around a thousand. The number makes me tired even before warming up.

There are about three types of undead: skeletons, which are made of bones, zombies, monsters of skin and rotten bones, and ghosts which are zombies but more powerful. Fortunately, the undead were not intermediate monsters, except ghouls.

Skulls and zombies had to go through my cloak and Blood Baptism, so they didn't do much damage. Ghouls are much faster and stronger than the other two but compared to the monsters I have dealt with so far, they are not very much of a threat.

Even so, how many monsters can I handle without eating? I haven't counted that far so I can't understand it. But from what I see, it doesn't look pretty to me. If I continue to do what I have done, it is impossible to kill a thousand undead.

‘Sial, I thought my preparations were meticulous but did not expect this!’

What do I have to do to not die?

I had to figure out the strength, speed, and amount of damage they could do to me, the amount of energy I needed to expend to destroy them, the distance and direction to move. Just like the time when I thought the first floor of Jinma Tower was impossible but still defeated it, I should do the same here.

I saw three ghosts in front of me.

‘Sial.’ I muttered and attacked them.

I got used to their attack patterns after killing seven of them. Luckily my body, stamina, and magic were restored at all times, as was the durability of my equipment.

Once that was done, I measured the amount and range of damage my skills could do to them, and when to use Surprise and Fairy Tales. Even the amount of stamina consumption when using it simultaneously in sequence.

Since the decrease in power and magic could not be counted, all the work was done using Detection. Even with Detection, accurate measurement is impossible, but it still has to be done.

As I continued to use it, subtle differences gradually began to show: Where to hit the enemy to do more damage, how to move to my body to accumulate less fatigue, he said, figure out which skills are most efficient for the situation, and coordinate movement .

There were things I hadn't thought much about until now. To be exact, I must say that I was unable to pay attention until this point.

But it means a lot. To save my stamina and mana, I had to change my tactics, like self-destruct and rebuild myself in a new, better way.

High-level detection is really great. I just thought that the reels were no longer necessary, but his abilities not only ended there.

It detects external and even internal changes caused by enemy actions. It identifies how much a part of you is affected by your actions, and how much it affects you externally.

Even small differences in hand movements make a big difference. I wonder why I didn't realize it until now.

Only Surprise and Fairy Tales showed efficient movements, even though I was still a long way off. It was a shame that I shouted about my advanced skills. What would you do if your skill level was high?

You have to generate stronger power with less effort.

I should not be satisfied with just detecting the enemy. I have to fully understand myself and be able to move on the best path I already know.

Determine the enemy's movement, then next, then which flow they are. I should be able to understand the enemy's intentions instinctively.

I'm glad I found the answer now. I gritted my teeth as I controlled the force on my feet to avoid the claws swinging from my left.

[Advanced Detection has become Lv5!]

And from the moment I realized how to improve myself, the time it took to die gradually began to increase.

[Advanced Martial Arts became Lv4!]

When I die for the twenty-seven times, I am able to destroy nine hundred and fifty undead.

[Advanced Martial Arts to Lv5!]

[Low Speed Attack has become Lv9!]

When I died for the thirty-five times, I only had ten undead in front of me.

[Advanced Detection to Lv6!]

[Lesser Shadow Walk has become Lv8!]

And when I was resurrected for the forty-nine times, I managed to destroy all the undead in the arena.

“...I win...”

I looked around, muttering. It was still filled with black fog, but Advanced Detection clearly told me that no one but the collapsed undead came out from within it.

I'm squeezing my power and magic. It was a perfect move that I couldn't believe. Now I have confidence that I have gained more than is determined by my skill level.

I have always been fascinated by numbers. Even at the same level, the power I could generate according to my movements and operations where divided into rows and columns!

I'm winning. I have conquered the second floor of Jinma Tower!

A moment after thinking so, something caught my ankle. Without examining it much, I realized it was a ghost wrist.

The wrist I just broke and broke.

[It's fun.. It's fun, and it hurts! I'd like to share this joy with you!]

As if waiting for everyone to finish their break, the undead rose up again from everywhere. The skeletons, which had been split into countless pieces and fragments, gathered entirely within the black fog. Zombies collect their flesh and reassemble it.

The ghosts laughed at me, taking their heads back to their necks.

[You fool.]

[You are a living person.]

Why don't I pay more attention to the words A? He never said that they were just “undead” or “legion raised”. He just said it's called “Legion that doesn't die.”

I had to take a step back and reflect on his words. As he said, they were truly an immortal army. I thought it would be resolved if I smashed it to pieces, but that's not all.

I made a mistake in my calculations. And another question popped into my head.
