Demon King

Demon King
Chapter 94 The Rebellion [3]

I've been in a hurry before, trying to grow stronger so that I can survive. I only considered killing the enemy in front of me and then proceeding forward. That hasn't changed much, but now I need to look further ahead and make calls based on the limited information I have. At the very least, I knew I had an enemy that I could not face alone. Fortunately, I have everything I need – basic to improve my abilities and improve my allies. All that remains is to use it.

“I'll be back.” I turned from the fortress to the view of the foggy underworld.

“Given your incredible sensing ability, I don't think you'll be in any particular danger. But as I said before, the underworld is quite unpredictable. There will be curved creatures created by the Great Fusion, like those on the battlefield. Careful.”

“I'll remember it, thank you. And thank you for taking care of Mireina. ” He is now completely under my control due to some circumstances that I do not fully understand, but he understands. At first, I just wanted him not to get in the way, but now things are a little different. I can no longer enter the Rookie Battlefield, which means Mireina is my only stop there. Learning what Elakatra was doing, what they wanted to do. Given Mireina's current way, it was impossible to learn those things. Nevertheless, he was still the only one who could go back there and gather that information.

Go ahead and use my money to strengthen Mireina.

“By your command, I will prepare a room for her to practice.” If Rain says he will, then I believe it will be done. I nodded and looked outside the castle. A didn't seem to want to meet me and hide at the top of one of the towers. She was one thing, but if I went without stopping by to see L, she would get angry, even if I didn't go far. I didn't have time to stop by every time I visited the castle, so I decided to handle it later. If I see his face now, I might want to stay here longer.

“I'll wait.”

“Ya.”

I arrived at the blood-soaked underworld covered in a red mist. That scene reminds me of the last dungeon of an RPG game. The mana in the air was still unfamiliar to me, but the calm atmosphere of the castle had been replaced with a terrifying one that was as thick as fog. I activated my senses and developed them, clearing my mind as needed. Jinma's wings spread from my back, outstretched. It was a strange feeling when I took it out as if I had extra eyes or ears. I became more sensitive to the world around me, and I knew my ability to handle mana improved dramatically.

‘The difference is amazing.’ It just went from the inside out of the wall, but once I spread the Jinma Wing, I could feel the gathering of enemies towards me from all sides. Monsters that were strong enough to be incomparable to Chaos Souls; beings that were extremely distorted, too mutated to be considered alive.

“So the castle is a refuge.” The castle where I had just been protected by a strong barrier and magic. It was thanks to the fact that the owners of Jinma Tower, Nak Garden, and Specialty Shop had all gathered there. They could not get out, but they could exert their full strength within that castle. I can't help but wonder how it relates to me; if that will change if I continue to grow and put them under my command someday.

‘Under my command ..’ Me, who can't even understand their power properly. No, I guess I will, eventually. I have gone from being a goblin to grabbing a piece of Jinma within a year and a half. I can definitely go beyond the future.

[Can I eat you?]

Among the gathered dark monsters, a tall humanoid resembling Pierrot approached me. His long tongue protruded out from his mouth as he spoke to me, black water droplets dripping from him. In an instant, the droplet exploded towards me; a terrible poison was meant to kill me. However, before I could use Ubiquitous to dodge, the crystals floating unseen around me, the Goddess Touch, absorbed the poison. It happened too fast for me to detect which flow, so I'm not sure what happened.

[See?!]

A moment after the poison was absorbed, the crystal emitted a brilliant light. It left a warm feeling in me as it faded away as if it had never happened in the first place. The surrounding monsters, however, had shrunk back from the light. I don't know what happened, but I recognize the opportunity. I unsheathed the Twilight Sword on the Pierrot monster first, the sword was even more destructive now that I evolved. I attacked with my sword, the Reaper's power crushing the monster's poison as I carved a deep wound on his face at the end of my sword's trajectory. But the monster didn't die right away, and I was still surrounded by all sorts of monsters.

[What a delicious meal!]

[I want to eat too.]

[I also want, even one finger is enough.]

Even the weakest among them still had strength higher than 180. They were the type of enemies I could kill with a single sword attack or spell. I remained calm and narrowed my detection range to around myself so that I could figure out the number of enemies and their attack methods. Three came to me from above: stings, whips, and swords. I could feel the ground shaking beneath me, deformed claws pointing towards my feet as explosive clouds spread around me. I started my counterattack by spreading my mana outside, blocking the load of the attack. Confusion quickly spread among my enemies, that's what I wanted.

I made full use of Ubiquitous to move through the gaps between them. The alter ego remained in my place, using the spells of Belkena and the Lunatic Trickster to restrain it. But it won't last long; I have to suppress my attacks. The moment stretched into eternity as I honed my Reaper skill, focusing on the tip of my sword as I let out a battle cry.

[Yeah!]

[It hurts, it hurts a lot!]

The screams of monsters around me were welcome sounds, almost the same as pieces of flesh and bone flying from them with every attack I made. I spread my dark smoke, greedily eating every part of it as I moved. Every time I used Ubiquitous to dodge their attacks and cut their ranks, the confusion between them intensified. I ran through them like a wolf in a flock of sheep, cutting off their necks.

[You received 37 gold.]

[You receive 28 gold.]

[Slightly.. let me eat..!].

The last monster was a huge humanoid monster with goblin-like horns. My sword cut where his heart was supposed to be, his body slumped to the floor as my energy swallowed it entirely.

[You received 29 gold.]

[You received 31 gold.]

A simple notification window popped up, telling me that I could not gain experience from monsters of this level. After all I have to fight against entities from a higher system. Their levels were high, so the mana I recovered from devouring them was very significant.

‘This money... only gold? No silver or bronze.. ‘ I wonder if it has anything to do with Rain's words. He said gold was permanent. Maybe it has magical value? I groaned because I didn't know when I stepped forward. I don't feel any more monsters near me, that's a good thing. It would be annoying to continue fighting monsters that could not give me joy in growth.

Deciding I had to find water, I started walking through a distorted world. It took me four days in the end, to find a monster strong enough to gain experience. Even underground, higher level entities were not easy to obtain.

I walk and walk, sometimes using Ubiquitous to break boredom, through this world without beginning or end. Finally, I found a strange large temple built in the middle of the mountains. It was there, for the first time, that I discovered another higher level entity.

[How did you find your way here to this sealed place?]

It was a giant spider-shaped monster.

“Covered place?”

[Under ground here is distorted. This outdoor space was connected to an unknown mess. And every time I try to leave, I will be blocked by the wall. This space has been closed until now when you arrive.]

“...” I feel Rain's words make more sense now. The environment itself was distorted, and space would be jumbled together. The places will be interconnected or disconnected, as just happened. Maybe I won't be able to return to the castle by returning to where I came from. It was a good thing, with that in mind, that I had the ability to open the door of the castle from anywhere. Rain knew that, so he let me go without worrying about it.

Pulling myself out of my mind, I felt a little awkward when I saw the spider staring at me the whole time.

“Why didn't you attack me?”

[Why should I?]

This was the first time I heard such an answer from a monster, and I felt somewhat embarrassed to even ask. However, when I examined it more closely, this monster was unlike any other monster I had ever encountered. It was a giant spider, for sure, but it did not look as strange or distorted as the other spiders had.

[I can feel the Jinma energy inside you, deep and pure. There are too many other things that make me hate to be bothered with you.]

Something else to hate?

[The bastard, Fairy.]

Lightning flashed through my head when it happened to me. Of course, it was natural that it was like this. The inhabitants of the underworld would undoubtedly be hostile towards the elves and Elakatra. And among them, there would undoubtedly be many monsters and demons that had never connected with humans as partners. I wonder what exactly that means.

“You.... do you want to get out of here?”

[.. You get my attention, Jinma.]

It may be a good place to find some colleagues and subordinates.
