EX-SOLDIER: In Another World

EX-SOLDIER: In Another World
Peaceful City before Storm - Part 7

The fighting continued until dawn. Many knights and guards were exhausted with most of them too weak to continue fighting. This was not good news, moreover there were still many enemy soldiers left scattered in the city.

'It's bad.'

Vincent thought his body was too tired to fight but he kept pushing himself. Bruises and incision wounds could be seen on his body, the clothes he was wearing in tatters with the amount of damage he received. The weapon that Vincent used has also been replaced, from the Light Machine Gun M249 which has a weight that is quite heavy to be a Sub Machine Gun Kriss Super V which is lighter so as not to overload his body.

As well as the enemy, they were also exhausted and that caused their perfect formation to split apart due to the lack of concentration from exhaustion. But even so, the enemy had an advantage of more numbers than the combined guards and the Rose Order.

In the midst of the battle, Vincent saw a familiar figure with the bow. Shoot at the enemy with his arrow in a safe place, while protecting the knights in front of him. It was Gill, and he also did not look any better than the others with all the injuries he received.

"Gill's behind you!"

Vincent shouts at the sight of the enemy sneaking up to attack Gill. But with Vincent's warning, Gill manages to dodge by ducking. At the same time Gill pulled out the dagger she was carrying, thrusting the dagger into her attacker's thigh and making the assailant scream in pain before Gill slashed his neck, made the attacker fall head first to the ground with a lot of blood spurting from his throat.

"Thank you for the warning, Vincent."

Gill said as she flicked the blood on her dagger before putting it back into the scabbard.

"Either. Did you see Pete?"

Vincent asked, standing side by side with Gill as the two of them started aiming at the enemy.

"I got separated from him, he was on the front line before I lost track of him as chaos erupted. By the way where's Lisa?"

"Lisa's safe, I sent her to take shelter with the other victims."

"Thank God." Gill said as she tried to grab the arrow in the arrow tube she was carrying. "Damn, I'm out of arrows."

"10 meters ahead, knights die with bows."

Vincent said while helping the knight on the frontline with his own shot. Gill, who understood what Vincent meant, began to prepare his dagger and prepared to go towards the corpse of the knight who had an arrow tube.

"Get it, I'll support you."

Vincent said as Gill began to move. Vincent shoots several enemy soldiers who approach Gill while defending himself. It didn't take long for Gill to get his stock of arrows again and return to fight by showering his enemies with arrows.

Time continued to travel with the sun starting to shine on the world with its light, giving a clearer view of the battleground that was going on.

Of all the corpses and weapons strewn across the city streets, Vincent saw a familiar shield. There was nothing special about the shield, just the ordinary Round Shield made of a mixture of iron and wood with eagle marks drawn on the iron part. It belongs to Pete, but Vincent can't see Pete anywhere.

Vincent approaches to inspect the shield, where he sees a nearly broken shield with a splash of blood on it, making Vincent worried about Pete's state.

Seeing that, Vincent decides to scan the area, hoping to see Pete and make sure he is okay.

.........

Moments pass with him killing several enemy soldiers present in the area, until he finds Pete. But instead of being relieved to have seen his adventurous companion, Vincent's heart was drowned in worry when he saw Pete's state.

There, among the corpses, Pete lay helpless. His legs twisted in an unnatural direction with blood coming out of his mouth. Seeing that Vincent rushed over in a hurry.

"PETE!"

Vincent shouted the name of his partner. He immediately crouches down and moves Pete's head into his lap, shaking his body to make Pete aware.

"Paet! Stay with me!"

Vincent said, concern colored his voice as he checked Pete's circumstances.

"Medical! Help is here! Help u! The medical!"

Shouted Vincent, trying to seek help from knights or witches who could do first aid. But unfortunately, the area is quiet as if avoided.

"Vin-... cent?"

Pete said his voice was nothing more than a whisper. However, Vincent hears that and sees Pete raising his hand, then Pete grabs Vincent's clothes and says.

"La-!"

"I won't leave you here like this stupid! Hang in!"

Stomach Vincent while he's still looking for help. But Pete just shook his head weakly, a sign that he disagreed.

Pete said with great difficulty, telling the danger the enemy had. Yet Vincent is still in his place, still seeking help until he hears an inhumane scream.

YAAAAAAAAGH!!

Hearing that Pete tries to push Vincent with a hand that grips his shirt, pushing with all the rest of his strength but proving futile.

"La-. ri Vin. cent!"

Pete said he was still pushing Vincent.

"NO!"

Shouted Vincent, still in place. Tried to drag Pete to safety until the scream was heard again.

YAAAAAAAAGH!!

Vincent turned to the source of the voice only to see a giant humanoid-shaped monster. The monster had a height of about three meters with a full body of muscles, dark skin with a goblin-like face but with two large lower fangs protruding out. The monster was wearing armor that protected its body with a metal collar on its neck. He was carrying a large club the size of an adult tree trunk made of spiked steel.

"DAMNIT!"

Shouted Vincent while laying Pete down. Hearing Vincent's cry, the Monster whom Pete calls the War Troll turned his head towards him. Roared inhumanely before running towards Vincent.

Vincent by his side ran away, luring the War Trolls out of the area to keep Pete from being further affected by the battle. After the distance was made, Vincent began to point his gun towards the War Troll, shooting him to empty the magazine owned by his weapon.

"Dam."

Vincent swears when he sees a bullet he shot bouncing on the War Troll armor or just scraping his skin. It was as if this monster's own skin was made of steel, making Vincent grimace with the information he had obtained.

As Vincent refills his weapon, the War Troll reduces the distance between the two of them, the monster swings a giant baton with its monster power.

A BAAM!!

The giant trough hit the ground, right where Vincent had been. Fortunately Vincent managed to dodge in time by rolling to the side, otherwise he was not sure he would survive this attack.

Seeing the impact of the War Troll attack, Vincent was surprised, making his concentration scatter by seeing a small crater with cracks spreading around it. It was only one swing and it would have killed him if it was hit by the attack head-on.

But it looks like the War Trolls don't want to give Vincent a break. Vincent, unprepared for losing his concentration, momentarily takes a hit beside his body with a follow-up strike from the War Troll, throwing him a few meters from the spot before and ending up crashing into the wall of a building.

All the air came out of Vincent's lungs, with the impact of the attack also beginning to spew blood. The panting Vincent breathed in the air greedily, with one of his hands holding the spot where the War Troll hit him.

It took a few seconds until Vincent was back ready and Vincent started shooting at the face of the approaching War Troll. Fortunately one of the bullets managed to shoot the monster in the eye and give Vincent a little time.

Vincent quickly used the opportunity to open up his inventory. With the word "Interface" Hologram floats with various weapons in it and Vincent chooses to issue Barrett M82A1 or better known as Light Fifty because it uses the caliber .50 BGM. A weapon capable of firing armor-piercing bullets. Anti-material rifles capable of penetrating Tanks and dropping fighter jets, in short the monster rifles that had been created by human hands.

Vincent stood up despite his whole body ache and his legs faltering, he aimed the monster weapon at the still dazed War Troll.

BANG!!!

The monster weapon roared very loudly, spewing out a armor-piercing bullet that directly hit the War Troll's stomach. Vincent, who received a re-coil from a used weapon, staggered backwards due to improper position when shooting. As a result, the bullets shot through the monster's armor and stomach, leaving a hole the size of a child's fist.

The War Troll roared in pain, the hand that was not holding covered the wound Vincent had given him. The eyes that were not hit by the bullet glared at Vincent angrily while the others closed and spat out blood.

YAAAAAAAAGH!!

The War Troll roared once again, despite the fatal wound he had, the monster was extremely persistent and began to walk up to Vincent with the intention to kill him. But this time Vincent is better prepared than ever. His legs had been firmly planted on the ground with his weapon aiming at the monster's head.

"Goodbye, you bastard!"

BANG!!!

Vincent said as he pulled the trigger. The bullet that was spewed directly hit the head of the War Troll, making its head shatter like a watermelon.

Vincent gasping for breath saw the monster tumbling backwards, hitting the ground with a loud 'thud.

"I'm avenging you, Pete."

Whisper Vincent to himself. Slowly he lost consciousness from the fatigue and pain he was receiving. Feeling that his body could no longer bear the burden, Vincent collapsed and fell face-on to the ground first. The weapon he had taken out turned into light particles that were blown off the wind as if understanding that the owner already did not need them anymore.
