EX-SOLDIER: In Another World

EX-SOLDIER: In Another World
Reform - Part 3

"I see you all gathered here. Nice." The former prostitute said as she entered the room where Gehena was meeting. All the branch representatives were already waiting there, yet none of them welcomed him. That's what's expected. Even if their lives were a lot easier than when they led the Eclipse, many still hated him and Vincent for the takeover.

"I see you all successfully complete the task I gave you. Now, like every month, I'm here to listen to you before announcing the next goal we have to complete."

"Our spy nets in the brothel went well. My girls have a lot of stories to tell every day. Both from the streets and the courts. Nothing important to report." Report Abelin, who is the current head of the prostitution department. He is probably the one who adapts to the situation the most.

"The gaming department is working well. Most clients are our own people during their holidays, so we know how much they can afford to pay. We also landed some great popes among the nobles. Since we renovated various casinos, we have had fewer problems in money management. Nothing more to report." Noah, the head of the gambling department.

"The smuggling department is fine. We no longer carry a lot of illegal goods, as we are busy with the transport of magical items from town to town. Do you remember the bandit group we dealt with? Some of them became arrogant and asked for more. When we refused, they attacked us. I asked the security department to handle them. This is all I have." Said Arnie, head of the smuggling department.

"As Arnie said, the only thing that happened this month was an unexpected clash with the bandits. They are now an example for all those who do not want to work together. My men are fine, patrolling and recruiting in the lower districts . We had no more problems after the affair with the priest two months ago." Harold added, the new security department leader who replaced the obnoxious burly bald man before.

Matilda nodded at the reports from all departments, then her gaze turned to Harlod and gave a piece of paper from her pocket.

"The boss wants talented people in your department and helps him to recruit the people he deserves and qualify for." It was clear that Matilda was reading the paper that Harlod had handed to her.

"He wanted to create a special unit, and especially. The boss himself would teach them, streamline their talent that would become a potential recruit and if they gained his trust, he would also give one of the weapons he had as a reward for it." Matilda added with the people in the room focusing their attention on her. The matter regarding Vincent's weapons is a matter of interest by the department leaders in Gehena.

For example, Matilda who lacks good fighting skills can take down people who are bigger and stronger than herself thanks to the weapons Vincent gives her. That was why, the leaders of the Gehena department wanted to have one of their boss' weapons.

"Is the request just for Harlod?" Asked Arnie, it was obvious that it aroused his interest.

'As planned, they must have bitten the bait.' Think Matilda.

"No, but the boss believes the security department is the most reasonable person to offer his request." Answer Matilda.

Then Matilda handed out the same paper she had given to Harlod to each of the department leaders. They all read the request quickly to take the gist of the request.

"It can be arranged. I have my people who enter this qualification. When does the boss want these people?" Ask Harlod.

"Three days from now, and gather them at the base at night."

"I have people like this in my department, can I take them." Ask Arnie.

"Please, because the final decision will be in the hands of the boss himself."

"Hmm, spy huh? Maybe the girls can get in, despite the flaws in the power department." Abelin said his thoughts.

"If you're all interested, you can bring people you think you deserve at a predetermined time. Again, the final decision is in the boss' hands, not mine."

"Good."

"Then the meeting is postponed."

...Xxvx...

At the same time, Vincent gets a letter from the King. The letter contained the land that would belong to him as a Baron. Vincent wondered why the King and the council took so long to make this decision. Are they all incompetent, or too lazy? He doesn't know and doesn't care.

Vincent took out the map he got, looking for where the land the King had given him was.

His brows furrowed as he explored the map.

"Fucking king. Does he think I'm just cannon fodder for their defensive line? Do they want me dead for putting me in charge of this region?" Vincent said, his tone did not hide the irritation when he found out the location of the land given to him.

The land that the King gave him was the land directly adjacent to the Empire, a place not far from the site of the previous war that they failed to defend resulting in the Angelbarrow tragedy.

"It looks like you've gained land as your territory." Said a voice that entered his office. It was Celestine, gracefully moving closer to Vincent before sitting on the sofa in the room as if all the properties in the mansion were hers.

"So you know?" Vincent asked, his eyes narrowing sharply towards Celestine.

"Yes, and by the way, I don't agree with that. But unfortunately, the majority voted for the decision and my father couldn't do much." Celestine replied calmly as she received the herbal tea from a servant.

A tired sigh escaped Vincent's mouth. "That's why I hate politics." Vincent said as he kept back the letters and maps he had on the table. "It looks like I'm going to visit a brothel to release this stress." Vincent said softly as he said that.

"By the way, what are you doing here?" Vincent asked Celestine, who was enjoying himself, although his facial expression changed slightly when he heard the words that Vincent muttered before asking her.

"Is it wrong to visit my future fiancee." Celestine asked playfully, hiding the annoyance she had.

"And I can't believe you just want to visit me without any intention or plan behind it." Answer Vincent flat.

"Oh! Don't you know me very well? I'm flattered~."

"Then?" Vincent asked, at the moment he is not in a good mood to avenge Celestine's temptation.

"Well, you're not fun." Celestine said with a frown, then she entered business mode. "I'm here on Dad's orders. He gave you some of his knights to help defend your new territory." Celestine said while giving a letter to the waiter to give to Vincent.

"It will be greatly appreciated." He said, taking the letter the servant gave him.

"Oh I know that." Celestine said, her tone returning as usual. "Although I don't approve of you playing around in a brothel." He said coldly.

"Yes, yeah-wait, what?" Vincent asked puzzled by the last words Celestine said. Not realizing that he was muttering the previous words so loudly that Celestine heard them.

"You'll get a disease." Celestine said leaving the room. Leaving Vincent alone in his office.
