EX-SOLDIER: In Another World

EX-SOLDIER: In Another World
Status and Issues - Part 2

If Vincent can express his thoughts at the moment, to be honest he doesn't feel comfortable. The man in front of him looked at him with eyes almost glaring from head to toe, paying attention to every movement and attitude he made Vincent about carrying himself.

The man who made Vincent uncomfortable was Edgar Ronchenie, the head of the noble house of Ronchenie and also the father of Lisa. Next to the man is a beautiful woman who can be mistaken as Lisa's older sister. Her name is Rowena Ronchenie, Lisa's mother.

I don't know what Lisa planned until she ended up like an object for both. Vincent tried to ignore the gaze of the two and acted as usual, although still uncomfortable with it. Then Vincent recalls how he came to this situation, starting with Lisa asking him to come to her family manor with plans to introduce Vincent to both of her parents. Yet for some reason, the situation had become awkward at this moment.

'I feel like I'm meeting a protective would-be in-law to ask permission to marry his son.' Vincent would not want to think like that when he was in this situation.

But after thinking back, considering the conversation they had before coming here about how Alisia ran away from home because she did not want to be paired with a foreign man she did not know, it then becomes an adventure with Lisa as a pseudonym and joins the Jade Tribe a year ago. His parents must have thought that their beloved Purti would go again with Vincent and cause this situation.

"So Alisia, this is the man you chose?" Asked his father as they all sat in the living room of the Ronchenie manor. They sat across the street where the husband and wife were sitting in front of Vincent with Lisa sitting next to him.

"Yes, father." Lisa nodded while holding Vincent's arm.

'Wait, wait a minute! What does he mean by the man you have chosen? Lisa, what are you planning?!' Vincent's head was thrown into a panic as he processed the conversation, trying not to crack the calm facade he was wearing.

"And he is?" Lisa's father asked while glancing at Vincent.

"His name is Vincent D Carlo, a newly appointed Baron for his achievements saving Angelbarrow Fort City from the insular attacks of the imperial army." Lisa replied, gone is the cheerful tone that she always wears and Lisa is calmer and elegant, to be honest it's something that makes her look graceful, not that Vincent dislikes her cheerful side.

"So it was you? Rumored heroes from all walks of life?" Ask the father while looking back at Vincent.

"Yes, I'm Vincent D Carlo. Regarding the rumors you mentioned, unfortunately I don't know what they're saying about me out there. But in order to defend Angelbarrow Fort City, I was indeed there to defend the city." Answer Vincent.

The father nodded after a moment of noticing Vincent's figure.

"Hats, simple yet luxurious coats with unique stylish clothes that are not like most nobles but definitely not the appearance of commoners." Said the father judging Vincent's appearance. "Yes, you fit the description mentioned according to the information I got."

'He's been investigating me before? Mark me impressed.' Think Vincent.

"Will you come with me to the backyard, I think a friendly match needs to be played to get to know each other among the men. Don't you agree, young man?" Said the father standing up.

"Huh?" Vincent's quiet facade cracks when he sees Lisa's father standing up and declares a duel on him.

Honestly, this is not what Vincent expected anymore. What is with the strange mindset of the people in this Kingdom? Or is this normal all over the world?

"You don't mind showing off your skills, do you, young man? I want to get to know you even more." Ask Lisa's father, Vincent who inevitably has to participate in this game, especially when he looks at Lisa who gives him a hopeful look from the eyes of 'puppy' who is famous for accepting his own father's challenges.

'Well! Stop looking at me like that!'

With a sigh of defeat, and the push of Lisa's puppy's eyes. Vincent accepts a challenge from Lisa's father.

"Of course."

...Xxvx...

On the field side, Lisa and her mother were spectators at the game with a few curious waiters to see their Master in action.

A butler stood between the two, acting as an impromptu referee for this friendly duel. The butler looked at the two and began to explain the rules about this duel.

"Well, the friendly duel between Viscount Edgar Ronchenie and Baron Vincent D Carlo is about to begin. The simple rule, the person who takes the first blood will be the winner. The fighters are strictly forbidden to cheat and target vital parts. Am I clear?" The butler explained the rules for the duel and the two nodded in acknowledgement, then the two parted ways and made a distance of about ten meters.

Vincent releases Combat Knife and Mauser C96. German production weapons that have a classic form for handgun in general. Equipped with a built-in capacity of 6 bullets that can be filled with calibers of 7.63×25 mm and 9×19 mm, respectively, but this time Vincent chose to insert a 9×19 mm rubber bullet that was intended for training so as not to cause serious injury as caused by the original bullet. Although it can be clarified as less dangerous, a rubber bullet can be very deadly if it hits the eye and will still be very painful if exposed.

Edgar raised his eyebrows as he looked at Vincent's weapon.

"I thought you were a battle mage, not an assassin." Edgar said as he looked at Vincent's weapon of choice.

"Battle mage?" Ask a stranger Vincent with that name.

"Yes Battle Mage. A magician who can usually attack with weapons other than his magic, usually they give charm to their weapons and act like a warrior with quick magic to compensate for his fighting style." Edgar said it.

"You'll be surprised." Reply Vincent with a confident smile.

"Is that so?" Edgar was not impressed.

"Well, both get ready!" The butler said to attract the attention of the two.

"The duel will start in a matter of three. One... Two... Three! Get started!" The butler said, his tone clearly excited as he swung his arm, signaling the start of the duel.

After the sign, Edgar lunged straight ahead. Lifting his sword to make a powerful swing with his sword. Vincent on the other hand just stepped back quickly, aiming at his opponent with full concentration.

"Sorry to disappoint you, but I seem to win." Said Vincent who grinned while pulling the trigger.

THE BANG!!

One shot has been fired, launching a high-speed bullet towards his opponent. Edgar, shocked by the sound and the incident, did not act quickly when a bullet hit his unprotected nose, causing him to fall backward due to the impact of the bullet.

"Eh?"

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeh!"

A voice of disbelief came out from the audience consisting of the servants along with Lisa and her mother.

Edgar who recovered from Vincent's attack daggers towards him, clearly dissatisfied from the results of a very fast duel. The butler still seemed to be processing what had just happened and not announcing the winner of the duel.

"I demand a rematch!" Shouted Edgar furiously, while the butler had just managed to process what had happened and announced the winner of the duel.
