GENK DUDA ACUTE
47. A Story of the Past (2)

Ryan sat on the sofa listening to the conversation that he considered useless at all. Dean asked him to leave the job just to watch two men hire each one.

I don't understand what show it is. He said it was a discussion about Toni's case. But since then, Ryan only heard Santoso let out a crisp fist with his flat face.

Ryan is the longest-serving secretary to have worked with Dean. That said, he saw most of Dean's travel history when he started Danawira’s Law Firm.

Back to six years ago. Ryan was like Santoso. Just finished his law degree. Six years ago, Ryan completed his law degree at the age of 24.

To apply for an office job at Danawira’s, Ryan got information from one of his friends who worked in the same building.

Ryan's friend said the owner of Danawira’s Law Firm had just fired the secretary for the fifth time in a year and a half since it was founded.

Ryan was shocked when he heard that. However, his need for work was more urgent than his worry of a boss sucks.

That morning, Ryan was wearing his best clothes and carrying a backpack on his shoulder. Even though it was said to be her best outfit, Ryan's look was still very ordinary. He was a poor former overseas student.

Danawira’s office is still vacant. At that time, there were only eight people. A woman in her late 50s. The other seven are young men.

Ryan approached the table closest to where he entered.

“Mbak, where do I want to apply, yes?” ask Ryan. No one cared about him at the time.

The old woman looked up at him. “Oh, you ... just go to Dalem. Say you're the new secretary,” said the old woman, looking down.

Ryan was a little confused. He felt there was no delivery of the proposal. He never proposed to be a secretary. Even so, he still walked towards the room that had been shown to him. He had only knocked on the door once, and an answer immediately sounded from within.

“You're the new secretary?” asked the narrow-eyed man who looked at him with a flat look.

“I just wanted to apply for work today, sir. Here's the proposal ...” Ryan lifted the brown envelope that had been held in his left hand.

“Basic employees today! Be told not to be late, be late. Don't know ten minutes is big." The narrow-eyed man nagged, then turned to look at Ryan. "You're here!” the slender-eyed man's orders.

Ryan advanced towards the table with a proposal in his hand. He hurriedly thrust out the proposal with both hands outstretched.

“Sit,” says the man in front of him. “Name?”

“Ryan,” the answer is short.

“Newly passed law master ... and now unemployed. Your GPA is good. Call me, Mr. Dean.” Dean placed a sheet of Ryan's chocolate envelope on his desk.

“Good, Mr. Dean.” Ryan nodded. He sat on the back of an old backpack he had been wearing since college.

“OK, Ryan .... Welcome to Danawira’s Law Firm. From today on, you will be my secretary. That's our job, and you can start working now. Quick. I have to race with time if I want this office to stand.” Dean pointed to a set of sofas whose tables were filled with heaps of files.

“Me? Straight to work, sir? Secretary?” Ryan wanted to make sure about what he had just heard.

“Yes, you're secretary. Less clear? Or do you refuse? The door is over there,” Dean said. His eyes again stared at the build-in computer screen that lit up in front of him.

“Mau, Sir. Can, well. I started work. Where's—from that pile?” ask Ryan.

“That's all letters of claim of insurance customers whose policies can not be paid. Danawira’s Law Firm represents those customers to make demands. It's a big case. I don't want to fail. You must accompany me. If you object and can't, mending says from now.” Dean looked back at Ryan.

“Support, Sir. I want to,” Ryan said.

“How old are you? I did not read it on CV.” Dean flicked his hand over the table.

“24 years, Sir.”

“OK, Ryan. Please work. If you are finished master, you must know what kind of demands we are serving.” Dean shook his hand. Expel Ryan to go to the pile of files.

Dean stood up from his chair and walked towards the pile of files.

“You just jumped into the world of work in the real-life field of law?” ask Dean.

“Iya, Sir. Finished S1 I immediately tried S2 and received cheap lectures. Honey, I didn't take it straight away. So all this time I only work odd jobs for daily needs.”

“There, Sir. Both are still in the village. Baggages. I'm the eldest, my sister there are three more.” Ryan put down his backpack and started sorting out the files. All that is there is a policy payment record from each customer who makes a claim.

“Case fails to pay for life insurance policies, many customers are desperate to have to take legal route to get their rights. Although, the company that manages customer funds has been declared bankrupt. If you see, a customer the number in my opinion, is not large. Personally, it's not big. Oh, yes, my parents are mining entrepreneurs in Kalimantan. Name's Hartono. Owner of Hartono Coil which is under the auspices of Cahaya Mas Group. I have a 25% stake in it. The point is, I am not poor. Okay, back to the customer. Customer funds that can not be paid by the insurance company is not large. One is only about .. well, 35 million to 100 million. If it was just one, I wouldn't take this case. But another thing that demands hundreds of people. I not only save the customer funds swallowed by the insurance company, but I will also get a brilliant name in my field.”

“Why open your own office if your parents have a large company? You can be a legal team in a parent company. No need to bother with the amount that—bapak said not this big.”

“Mmm—mental you are mentally begging yes it turns out. If I want to work in my parent's company, I don't need to go to college to take law. Why didn't I go to business management? I can sit on the board of directors. Or I could be the CEO who is definitely the dream of the women out there. With my almost impeccable look, it was easy. I am a graduate of the University of California Berkeley. Big companies will gladly accept me. But this isn't about Ryan's money ..”

At that time, on his first day of work, Ryan was able to draw a little conclusion about the level of confidence of his superiors.

The owner of the law firm is handsome. His face was seen to have Chinese blood. But his name is so ‘Jawa’ was obtained from his father.

GECK! GECK! GECK!

There was a knock on the door and they looked at each other.

“Log in,” pinta Dean.

A beautiful woman came into the room. Wearing a set of soft pink suits with white interiors. The woman held a bag of white stables and walked up to them where they were gracefully. A pair of high-white shoes adds to the woman's elegant impression.

“I'm the new secretary, sir. Inge, who yesterday passed the final stage of selection.” The woman named Inge smiled. Ryan was amazed at the beauty of women who had passed the selection to become a secretary.

“You? Who was it?” ask Dean again.

“Inge, Sir .. geez, yesterday was just from here. My own father who said I can enter work starting today.” Inge stood holding his bag.

Dean looked at the woman from top to bottom. Then, “You know what time it is? Whose cooperation are you with? Your parents? You are not the one I accepted to work here. Go home there. I've met the new secretary,” said Dean, shaking his hand with gesture expel.

Ryan flabbergasted. He felt guilty for the beautiful woman standing in front of him. Indirectly, he had usurped Inge's position back then.

“So, Sir?” inge asked, his face in disbelief.

“So what?” ask Dean. “So you go home now. There is no place in the world of work for people who are trivial at the same time. Yeah, already, get out there. I'm busy.” Dean took a file from the table and read it.

I don't know what that woman is feeling, Ryan doesn't know. The beautiful woman named Inge had immediately turned towards the door. Ryan glanced at his superior who placed both of his hands in the ears.

BRAKKK!!

Ryan flinched. Inge just came out and slammed the door with all his might.

“No surprise? So ... next time you have to get used to it if you work with me for a long time. Many women will come out of this room by slamming the kayak door earlier.” Dean chuckles.

“But beautiful,” said Ryan at the time, accidentally. He regretted that such a beautiful woman did not work there. Had Dean been more generous, Inge could still be a secretary and he was willing to work in other parts.

“Beauty is not enough to work with me. But more beautiful than that. You'll see for yourself,” Dean said.

“Liat where, Sir?” asked Ryan plainly.

Dean looked at the clock on his wrist. “Later tonight, at 20:00 I take you somewhere. It still has to do with work. Want, you?”

“Mau, Sir!” answer Ryan.

“But, later you change clothes, yes .. I am ashamed if my secretary is not cool. The gap between us is too visible. I'm just kasian as you if the cover with my aura.”

“Good, Sir! No matter how cool I am, definitely can not match the cool Mr. Dean,” said Ryan.

“That's for sure,” says Dean.

Ryan smiled winning in his heart. It turns out being a sycophant wasn't hard, he thought.
