67. Holding Promises
Nadia standing in the rice field. His eyes followed the speed of a car away from the village. Behind her, Joni directed her gaze in the same direction. Sighs.
“You are sure of your decision Nad?” joni asked after the car was nowhere to be seen in the distance.
“Sure.”
“Why do you do if this is hard?”
Nadia took a deep breath while closing her eyes. “We have our own obligations that we have to fulfill Jon.”
“You deserve to be happy Nad. So did doctor Nathan. You love each other.”
“We have love. What else is less? It's just a matter of time. If we are indeed a match, our own destiny will bring us together.”
Huft. “You're really stubborn.”
“I know you want the best for me. And I think it's best for me to stay here. Accompanying the villagers. Never mind. Come back.”

In the seat beside the lake, Nathan and Nadia sat side by side. They were there for almost half an hour in silence. Joko and Joni were sitting a bit away from them. Provide privacy for both people who are talking.

Nathan took a long breath. He knew the reason for Nadia. The beautiful woman had noble ideals. He might indeed have to succumb to fate by now.

Initially as time goes by he hopes to win the heart of the Handsome doctor who has been pulling his heart since he first met. He did not expect that he would eventually lose to just a village woman. Moreover, with the status of the widow attached to it.

Nathan was shocked by his actions. He also reflexes doing it. However, both of them smiled awkwardly hence with equally flushed faces.
“Nadia, can I get a farewell hug from you?” Nadia nodded. Not wasting any time, Nathan pulled Nadia's body in his arms.
“I love you Nadia. I will always love you. I'll be right back to get you from here. If you still have to be here, I will not mind accompanying you here.” Nathan said as he stroked Nadia's hair. Inhaling deeply the woman's scent. Which he will miss very much.
“Thank you doctor. Thank you for allowing me to feel such sweet love.”
“But unfortunately this is not Nadia's sweet love story, this love we only felt before the breakup. But I'm sure it's a temporary farewell, once we're reunited, I'll never let you go again. Remember that.”
“Good. I'll wait for the doctor to come after me. Let'sjust look. Will the doctor be able to easily catch me.” Nadia smiling.
“After this, our love journey will be difficult Nadia. I hope you will be strong enough to stand up straight. I'm sorry I couldn't keep you company in the face of the harshness of the world. But I promise, after we meet, I will not let the slightest problem that comes your way.” Nathan said before letting go of their embrace. Nadia nodded for sure.
An old kiss on the forehead became his second farewell greeting. Both Nathan and Nadia, both of them steadied their hearts to hold a promise between them. Joni and Joko who saw the two also felt bitter in their hearts.
