There used to be a king and a queen. They have a crown prince. This elderly king and empress loved her only son very much. They recommended that the crown prince immediately find a wife so that he could immediately replace his father.
One day, the crown prince was eating ricotta, his favorite food. Ricotta is an Italian cheese and white. Out of guard, his finger was slashed by a knife and bled. A drop of blood falls on a piece of ricotta. Looking at the red blood dripping on the white ricotta, a strange desire arose.
Suddenly he said to his mother, “Wahai Mother, Ananda wants to find a wife who is white like ricotta and red like blood.”
Hearing the crown prince's words, his mother laughed and replied, “My son, where there is a daughter who is white like ricotta and red like blood.”
However, the crown prince had been determined to find a princess as he dreamed. No matter how persuaded his parents were, he insisted. One day, the crown prince begged his mother to go on a journey, promising not to return before finding a suitable wife.
Walk the crown prince across rivers and seas, through forests and up mountains, days and years. One day, somewhere quiet he met a half-old woman who rebuked him, “Wahai Prince, where did Mr?” go
“I want to find a girl who is white like ricotta and red like blood.”
The woman was dumbfounded while shaking her head. Of course he thought it was less sane. The crown prince continued on his way, not getting tired and crummy. One twilight, he met a grandmother, “Hai young man, where are you going?”
“Oh, Grandma, I'm looking for my dream daughter who is white like ricotta and red like blood.”
The grandmother looked at him while saying, “O young man, who is white certainly will not be red, while the red one certainly cannot be white.”
Hearing the grandmother's words, the crown prince was about to get angry, but the grandmother held his hand. “If you are sure, go and find your dream daughter. Take these three pomegranates as provisions from Grandma,” he said while giving three pomegranates to the crown prince's hand.
“Pare this fruit and look at its contents. However, there are conditions that you must comply with. You can open when you get to a lake.”
The crown prince received the pomegranate while thanking him and continued the journey. Shortly after, he arrived near a lake. He also opened a pomegranate. Suddenly from within appeared a beautiful girl who was as white as ricotta and as red as blood. The crown prince was dumbfounded full of happiness.
he only realized when he heard the beautiful girl's complaint, while pleading with the crown prince:
“Oh young people get water because without water I will suffocate.”
Quickly the crown prince ran to the edge of the lake and dabbed the water with both hands. When he returned, the girl suffocated to death. I hope it's too late.
Sadly take the second pomegranate and peel it carefully. From inside, a girl appears more beautiful than the first girl. This girl whimpered and begged the crown prince to quickly fetch some drinking water, otherwise she would die of thirst. The crown prince ran as fast as he could and took water from the well. However, when he returned, the girl had died of thirst. The crown prince was crying and almost desperate.
He took the third pomegranate and opened it. Out of it came a girl who was much more beautiful than the two girls before. Without waiting any longer, the crown prince ran, dipped water and splashed water on the girl's face. The girl took a breath and smiled, then thanked him.
The girl blushed covering her body with her long hair unraveling. Like a newborn baby, this girl's body is not covered by a thread.
The crown prince immediately opened the coat and slid it into the girl's body. While thinking, he looked around the lake, then said, “O girl, look, on the edge of this lake there is a shady tree, go up and sit on the tree branch. Wait for me there. I'll go get clothes and a train to take you to my father's palace”
Submissively, the girl climbed a tree and sat on a strong, shady branch.
Once upon a time, every day apparently people around the lake came to fetch water. One of them was a Saracina, a girl with an ugly face, who worked at a merchant's house. The merchant and his wife were very stingy. Every day, Saracina had to draw water from the lake.
One day, when he came to fill his water jug, he saw on the surface of the clear lake water there was a shadow of the face of a very beautiful girl.
la said inwardly, “Oh, how is it possible, a girl with a pretty face like me should take water every day for the miserly merchant.” Then, he threw the water jug until it broke and quickly went home.
Arriving at home, the merchant's wife asked, “Where is the water and the pitcher?”
The merchant's wife was furious at Saracina's reply and ordered her to return to the lake to fetch water. After arriving at the lake, Saracina saw again the beautiful face on the surface of the water. “Oh, apparently I am very pretty. Ah, matter what I'll be the chatty merchant's wife.” Then, he threw again a jug filled with water.
So many times it happened, until finally the girl on the tree did not reach her heart and rebuked her.
Saracina was shocked and looked up at the tree while listening to the girl's story. Angrily, Saracina said, Why don't you just say it, you wait until I break some jugs and accept the swearing of the merchant's wife!”
While looking at the girl, Saracina continued, “But you are so beautiful, so beautiful.”
At first the girl did not want to go down. she was embarrassed because she did not wear clothes. However, Saracina begged constantly, ‘‘Down, so that I can comb your hair, surely you will look even prettier.”
Out of pity, the girl came down while outlining her long, bushy hair to cover her body. Saracina started stroking her hair and combing it. A moment later, he immediately picked up the skewer he was wearing and thrust it into the girl's ear. Out of the ear came a drop of blood, and the girl died. The blood drops fell to the ground. Once it fell to the ground, it immediately turned into a pigeon that quickly flew. Then Saracina quickly climbed up the tree and sat on a shady branch.
Meanwhile, the crown prince returns with a beautiful horse carriage and a set of clothes for the girl of his dreams. Carefully, he took the girl down and led her from the tree. Suddenly he was surprised when he saw the girl he was leading was an ugly face. Then he asked, “So you are so white as ricotta and red as blood. Why are you black now?”
Saracina replied, “O crown prince, the sun shines with its scorching heat so that my skin turns black.”
The crown prince grew astonished at the hoarse and coarse voice, “Why did your voice change?”
Saracina replied, “Oh, crown prince, earlier a cold wind blew so fast that my voice became hoarse.”
The crown prince looked wide-eyed, “Oh, you were so beautiful, why is it now this way?”
“Well, the blowing strong wind has brought flying all over my beauty.”
The crown prince was forced to believe all Saracina said. Saracina was put on a horse-drawn carriage and taken to the palace. Since then, Saracina lived in the palace, was treated well and became the crown prince's bride-to-be.
Since that incident, apparently every day in the kitchen window of the palace always stopped a pigeon who was waiting for the kindness of the cook. The palace cook always gave him the leftovers.
While enjoying the meal, the bird always asks the cook what the crown prince and his bride-to-be are doing. Cooks always answer that they eat, drink, and sleep every day. So every day the bird came, ate, and asked the news of the crown prince.
One day, the cook decided to tell the crown prince about the magical bird. The crown prince told the cook to catch the bird and bring it to him. Unfortunately, at that time Saracina was sitting behind the door. After hearing the conversation between the cook and the crown prince, he knew that the bird was nothing but the incarnation of the beautiful girl he had killed.
Before the cook could catch the bird, Saracina was ready, then caught and stabbed the pigeon to death. From the stab in his body came out blood. A drop of blood had fallen to the ground inside the garden beside the kitchen window. Where the blood was dripping, a pomegranate tree grew. This pomegranate tree thrives and the fruit is very dense.
It turns out that this pomegranate fruit has properties. Whoever eats the fruit will recover from any disease. Thus every day comes people who ask pomegranates for medicine, until finally only one fruit remains.
Then Saracina said, “This fruit I will keep for myself,” and then keep it.
One day, an old woman came asking for pomegranate because her husband was very sick. Saracina would not give the fruit, until then came the crown prince who had heard also the old woman's plea. Then he told Saracina to give the old woman his pomegranate. Unfortunately, it was too late, because upon arrival at home, her husband was dead.
The woman decided to keep the pomegranate for herself, then it was stored near the stove in the kitchen.
Every day, this woman went to work on her garden. When he left the house, a beautiful girl came out of the pomegranate. Cleaned the grandmother's house, turned on the fire for the dead, then she cooked and washed the clothes. When finished, he immediately went back into the pomegranate.
That is how it happens every day. The grandmother was of course astonished, but had no idea how any of this could happen. The grandmother grew suspicious and decided to take a peek.
One day, he pretended to go outside, but then went back into the house and hid behind the door. Grandma was amazed to see the beauty of the girl and began to love her. After a while, Grandma was determined to catch the girl.
One day, while the girl was busy cleaning the house, Grandma came out from behind the door. The girl could no longer re-enter the pomegranate, she was shocked and frightened.
The grandmother said, “I don't want to hurt you and I'm not angry. Tell me where you came from and how you got here.”
The girl told her story. While listening to the girl's story, Grandma quickly picked up her thread and knitting needles, then made clothes just to cover the girl's body. Later, the girl was named Princess Pomegranate.
Once upon a time, there was news about a grandmother who suddenly had a granddaughter of a very beautiful girl. The news of the wind reached the ears of the crown prince who immediately set out to see the girl. Upon seeing the girl, the crown prince was aghast as the girl was white like ricotta and red like blood. The crown prince immediately went to Grandma's house, then asked, about the girl. Looking at the crown prince, Grandma was frightened and pleaded, “O Lord, do not servant be punished.”
The crown prince held Grandma's hand while saying, “I won't punish you, I just want to know who that girl is.” Grandma told me the girl's story.
The crown prince did not hesitate anymore, she was his dream daughter. Grandma and the girl went to the palace. Saracina. Looking at the girl, Saracina was helpless and looked down in fear.
The benevolent crown prince said, “I do not want to punish you, let you suffer for your own sake as a result of your evil deeds.”
Finally, the crown prince managed to achieve his wish and married a beautiful princess who was white like ricotta and red like blood. They lived happily and succeeded their parents as wise kings and queens.
