Chapter 18 - Contract Agreement

“Class Detective? This is the first time I've heard it. What is the uniqueness in Class Detective?” ask Will.

“Class Hero is indeed very rare, but for this Class? The requirements that must be fulfilled to get the Hero Class is only to win the world tournament. But for Class Detective, what are the conditions to get it?” ask Saku.

“Hans.. What skills do you have?”

“How is the character status of Class Detective?”

“Is there a special mechanism for Class Detective?”

“Quest what kind can you get if you use Class Detective?”

“Is there any other Exclusive weapon besides Tactical Baton?”

“What weapons can Class Detective use?”

“Can I use your account for a moment?”

“Can I buy your account? You can set the price!”

“Hans..”

“Hans!!”

A few questions hit Hans in the face. Like a small dog interested in a new thing or a curious little cat, Will Isaac and Yuuki Saku encourage Hans to immediately answer their back-to-back questions.

“First of all, relax first” reply Hans.

The little dog and the little cat sat down. Like an animal that has been trained to carry out the orders of its master.

“Secondly, Class Detective is not what you imagine” Hans denied.

“Three, as I said before. The Detective Class is a Non-Combat Class. I don't have any other weapons. Besides, having the damage level in the number 0 tormented me immensely. Didn't you feel it? I can only give you emphasis with [Paralyze] and [Stun] without inflicting any damage to your character.”

“And lastly, the reason I received your offer is to learn how to find someone who has reportedly disappeared. Although in the end I had to work alone after seeing you guys” Hans expression was filled with disappointment.

The incident that just happened made Hans lower his confidence to Will Isaac and Yuuki Saku. Hans still remembered, when he became a material scramble to show their Guild power.

Yuuki Kotori chuckled at hearing that.

“I think we should go back to your main problem” while saying that. Hans retrieves a copy of the Quest paper in Will's hands.

Once again, Hans read a copy of the Quest to ascertain what was going on.

Quest – Return of Goods

An unknown player gave me a book [Wisdom of Magic] that learned simple magic for everyday life. I had finished studying it and wanted to return the book but I forgot the Player's name. Help me find the Player's name. We last met at the Temple of Goddess Relena.

Difficulty Level: -

Recommended Level: 0 - 300

Prize: 30 Gold Coins

Time Limit: -

“This is very difficult, even Class Detective is not able to solve this Quest” said Hans.

“Even that class is useless? Usually a Detective is able to solve a case before it happens right?” reply Will.

“Hey! What kind of detective is that! that only applies if they have information leading up to the case. Unfortunately, no additional information was obtained from this piece of Quest” Hans denied.

“That seems natural to me, as the difficulty level is left blank. Usually for this kind of Quest to have difficulty levels B to A. Moreover, the reward was very tempting” Pocket who felt left out of Hans and Will's conversation began to enter the flow of their conversation.

“But at least we are still lucky, because we know who made this Quest. Why don't we just ask the person directly?” Hans started to turn his gaze towards Mile Sinov.

Mile Sinov who realized the intent of Hans' gaze returned with a smile.

“Can I help you?” ask Mile.

“There are many questions about the Player you are looking for that” Hans replied.

“Isn't that an easy Quest to find Player? Isn't finding fellow players so easy? You have a list of friends who are connected to each other right?”

“Did he just explain Friendlist or the official Isekai Online Forum? We do have such a system, but looking for one Player among millions of Players seems a bit difficult right?” the question was directed at Will and Saku.

Will and Saku who were confused by Hans question could only shake their heads.

Hans let out a face as if to say, “You guys call yourself a Professional Player?”

Hans understood a little if these two players had absolutely no basic information about the game they were playing. It wasn't entirely Will and Saku's fault. Each Player has its own priorities as the Blacksmith Class understands the quality of the forging weapons and the Alchemist Class understands the full effect of his potions.

“Mile.. Can you tell me more about this Player you're looking for?" Hans squeezed out the paper containing a copy of the Quest and threw it away.

“Hans, isn't that a little rough?” ask Will.

“It's just a copy right? After all who will complete this Quest will you” reply Hans.

“...”

“...”

“I don't know if a fellow Player's relationship will be like this. It's interesting to see you guys getting along with each other. Most of the players I meet only care about comparing their strengths.”

“Well, they just did it, didn't they? By the way.don't equate them with other players. Let's just say they're a little special and abnormal.”

A transparent arrow pierced through Will and Saku's heart simultaneously. The words of Hans and Mile that insinuated them regarding their vital point.

“So Mile.. can you tell me what you really want?” ask Hans.

“I'm looking for a Player who can find my grandson” replied Mile in a flat tone.

“I know that, do you have to this Player to find your grandson?”

“This story is more complicated-“

“I'll hear it.”

Mile and Hans look at each other to defend their egos.

“Why do you want to hear it so much?” asked Mile who was filled with curiosity. He was a little interested in why Hans became stubborn to hear his story.

“I just feel uncomfortable when reading that Quest.”

“How can you feel like that, what gifts are offered too little?”

“Not that the problem.”

“Then what's the problem?”

“No useful information in it.”

“Huh?” Mile tilted his head.

Hans slightly took his long breath and began to slowly let out.

“Maybe I will slightly dissect the information I can get from the paper copy of the Quest. From what I read, you just want a little information that can be obtained from the Temple of the Goddess Relena, right?”

“...”

“[Wisdom of Magic], I don't know what book it is. If it is an item that can be obtained easily the Player should sell it instead of lending it. Knowing the contents of the book that studied magic for everyday life, I don't think Player needed it and would rather sell it. They only needed magic that was useful for their Class and combat power. Magic books that match Class Player are more suitable to be enjoyed alone, even if they find a book that matches their Class.”

“...”

“Then, there may be some Players who are interested in learning [Wisdom of Magic]. I think they're NEETs or something that have login hours all day. Normal players do not want to bother learning it.”

“...”

“They last met at the Temple of Goddess Relena? You should have mentioned the times they met like the date or the day. Oho! I remembered one thing. Will.. do you know the time system Isekai Online uses? How much time does Isekai Online compare to the real world?” Hans glanced at Will.

Will quickly shook his head.

“Without a timeline, knowing the name of the Player you are looking for is very difficult. You better pull that Quest than make the Player work hard with this little bit of information. Wasn't the Temple of the Goddess Relena used as a spawn point? Of course there are many Players who enter there.”

“...”

“At least give me a little useful information. Actually you only want to see the list of players who entered the Temple of Goddess Relena right? Give me something specific, maybe a small incident that gives me a clue. Whatever it is will be very helpful.”

Mile's twitching ears made Hans relieved. Hans had known the main purpose of that Quest.

“With that little information, I doubt there will be a Player who takes it. It would be different if the Quest in question were to find something like a rare plant, an expedition, a search, or something like that. But this Quest.” Hans slightly suppressed his words.

“Just the couplet and nonsense, now..can you tell me something that can lead to this Player?” Hans smiled as he ended his words.

Mile's tail twitched a little as he felt a little uncomfortable with Hans' statement. The small wrinkle on his face and the thin sweat on his forehead indicated he had been depressed.

Hans' words based on the Quest sentence are not necessarily true. Hans was just trying to explain it with what he understood. Right or wrong of his statement is just waiting to be proven.

Kotori who was next to Hans pulled her clothes. In front of him is a thin screen containing small information that he can get.

“Senpai.. I think you need this information” while saying that. Kotori shared that information on Hans's private chat.

“Good work, Kotori.”

Hearing the praise from Hans, Kotori's facial expression was filled with a faint red hue.

“[Wisdom of Magic] is a book about the essence of magic for everyday life. The book contains a theoretical foundation explaining the usefulness of low-level Elements for everyday work. Written by one of the Sages of the Orien Kingdom. Eh? Isn't this interesting? The quest range for this Player extends to the neighboring kingdoms. Moreover, this book only existed in the library of the Orien Kingdom Academy. Why is such a book here now?”

Information is the key to knowing something. Seeing this kind of information made Hans doubt Mile's intention to hire his two friends. Although the behavior of his two new friends was very troublesome, Hans still wanted to protect them if only to be used.

Level 300 is not just a number. If they become living puppets for the benefit of NPCs. What will happen in this world. What Hans was worried about was the prolonged conflict that would spread widely by using the Player as his pawn. Imagining that alone made Hans' head dizzy.

Mile's tail and ears were now bowed listlessly. Like a kitten being scolded by its mother.

“I don't know if a small Quest like that will cause a hole like this” said Mile.

“For other Players it may work, they only see the amount of rewards they can without caring what the Quest will be like. Even if it works, maybe they rely on their luck saved one year to find this Player” Hans a little joking to melt the atmosphere.

“I think I'll give up on this one.”

Mile stood up from her sitting position. His tail that looked extremely limp and his footsteps that were like losing hope of life walked towards one of the tables in his room. He opened a storage area containing old papers and exposed sheets of letters.

Mile's limp hand pushed the letter towards Hans.

Hans opened the letter.

The contents of the letter made him goosebumps instantly.

“O-oh.. This.” little murmur Hans.

Mile's lips felt limp but tried to move his lips, “The incident happened when the Temple of Goddess Relena was tightly closed. Maybe the public will consider it a regular occurrence but with that information we can know what is going on. I need the name of the Player who made direct contact with Saintess Vallie Lister.”

“Where does this little fox know this kind of information?” ask Hans.

“Not many royal warriors and royal nobles are able to close them, with alcohol and a small touch on their bodies is enough to open their mouths.”

“Oh, Honey trap apparently. Every now and then I want to feel it.”

“That information is connected to the martial law enforcement currently implemented by the Kingdom of Nestrad.”

“Because you can't move freely to look for your grandson, so you decided to look for this Player and ask him to look for your grandson?”

“... That was the original plan” Mile bowed lethargic while answering Hans' question.

“Why are you so interested in this Player anyway?” ask Hans.

“It.. because.” Mile bowed limp.

“...”

“...”

“...”

“...”

There was a long pause until Mile forced her lips to move, “I was completely hopeless when there were victims who began to be found.”

“Oh, it” Hans flat answer this makes the atmosphere between them back quiet.

Hans recalls discussing the Isekai Online Forum about a boy's quest and being found dead.

“I know how you feel, then we will take this Quest” replied Hans.

“Eh?” Will is shocked to hear Hans's statement.

“Ehh?” Saku looked confused by this sudden change in groove.

Meanwhile, Kotori just smiled hearing Hans' decision.

“OK, then.you two goodbye. I'm going to go for a walk outside. By the way the information in the letter is enough to find the Player” said Hans as he stood up and walked out of this room.

Will and Saku who looked panicked as Hans walked out of this room started to move blocking the exit with their bodies.

“STOOOOOOP!! What the hell does this mean? You want to leave your beloved friend this?” will said in a hurry.

“Since when did I become your beloved friend? I'm still normal!” reply Hans.

“Hans.. etto where are you going?” this time Saku with an unusual expression asked Hans.

“Guild Master Adventure” Hans answered him briefly.

“Why do you want to go there?”

“Of course to take this Quest officially.”

“Ah! Then let me go!” Will suddenly just moved with incredible speed away leaving Hans.

“Saku.. Can you catch up with Will? Just in case if he escapes from his responsibilities” pinta Hans.

“Oh! Yep! I understand!” without additional orders. Saku went after Will.

“Their experience of fighting is terrible but just to understand the general information in the game turned out to be very bad” Hans muttered while judging his friend.

Hans sat back down and faced Mile who was drowned.

“No need to be so moody, after all I have found the Player you mean it.”

Hearing Hans's words, the downcast Mile immediately got up. His eyes that had lost hope were now filled again.

“Senpai, do you know this Player?” Kotori who had been sitting quietly while looking for information on the thin screen in front of her began to glance at Hans. A look filled with curiosity appeared.

Those eyes were shining and filled with stars.

Hans who noticed the look in the eyes took the letters that were in front of him and gave them to Kotori.

Accepting the gift, Kotori immediately read what was inside.

“Temple of Goddess Relena gets a hint of a Player who is able to help her solve their problems from one of her Priests.”

“One of the stored royal treasures was stolen. The item is believed to be a seal from the source of disasters that have occurred in the past.”

“Boot Camp Server is officially a restricted zone for Player.”

“King and Queen of the Kingdom of Nestrad form an alliance with Saintess Vallie Lister.”

“Application of martial law situation for all soldiers of the Kingdom of Nestrad.”

Kotori read through the letter one by one. The information opened up his view on how complicated Player quests were involving various kinds of NPCs.

This information is nothing new to Hans. Because he had experienced some of that information. Information about the existence of a martial law situation was new to him. Given the creature that caused the uproar in Boot Camp Servere was enough to estimate the level of danger. That means, the martial law situation occurred because the creature was still wandering.

“Senpai.. how about this information?” Kotori who had finished reading the contents of the letter slowly tidied her back up.

“Quite help. but I am now curious why an inn is able to get information like this” heard Hans say this. Mile Sinov who unintentionally choked a little started to get sharp glances from Hans and Kotori.

Hans already knew about it, but a small feeling of judging Mile suddenly appeared in his heart.

“True too. sorry Mile Sinov. How do you know there's information like this?” Kotori curiously started attacking Mile with that question. Kotori's gaze was glued to Mile's face.

“Ah.. I-ituuu..” Mile's tail twitching and his twitching ears have trouble answering it. Judging from his body language, Kotori certainly understood the answer.

“Senpai.. Nekoya Inn is not an ordinary inn, right?”

Hans responded with a small nod.

“For that..I want to make a small deal with you, Mile Sinov” Hans looks back at Mile.

The cold sweat that began to spread across Mile's face was slowly visible. He hasn't been depressed like this for a long time. Some information about the main function of Nekoya Inn has been solved by two Players in front of him. He is not sure if the two players who left are familiar with this place, but the secret has been revealed by the two players in front of him. His identity is on the edge.

“I want to have a special relationship with you, Mile” Hans said.

“Eh?”

“Eh?”

Mile and Kotori were astonished by Hans' words.

“Knowing such information for an inn. Do you understand how extraordinary that is? If I find the Player you mean. Will you share your information network with me? Of course I will pay for the valuable information at a reasonable price” Hans reached out his hand.

Doubt appeared on Mile's face.

“Connected my class is Detective, I need a source of information to be found. I want us to be partners to exchange information. A relationship like that isn't too bad, is it?” Hans tried to convince Mile.

Kotori who heard it stood up and extended her hand.

“Anooo.. Mile.. can our Guild have your information network as well? We will pay according to the price offered!”

Receiving those two helping hands, Mile was speechless. To him, verbal covenants were very unethical.

“Do you want to make a contract with the information network Nekoya Inn?” reply Mile.

“Of course!!” Hans and Kotori responded simultaneously.

Mile got up and rushed to take the Contract Agreement. To conduct information business with the Nekoya Inn, a written contract agreement is required. The agreement contains the method of ordering and purchasing information that must be agreed upon by both parties.

Hans read the terms of the condition. Because he felt suitable, he immediately entered into a contract cooperation.

Kotori slightly added the condition requirement that Mile was made dizzy by it.

“It's nice to do business with y'all” the greeting that Mile put out is now adorned with a smile.

The door of the room suddenly opened.

Will and Saku with gasping breaths returned carrying the Quest paper issued by the Adventure Master Guild.

Will walked over to Hans and gave the Quest paper.

“Well, Detective. shouldn't we be working now?” said Will.

Hans took the Quest paper from Will's hand.

Once again Hans read the Quest paper to confirm the contents.

“Mile.. please prepare the prize. I will tell you what the name of the Player is” Hans said.

“Eh, Hans.. Do you know what the name of the Player is?” ask Saku.

“Of course I know. Besides the person Mile is looking for.." Hans stopped his words.

"That's me..” continued Hans.

“...”

“...”

“...”

“HAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!” Will shouted loudly beside Hans.

“Duh, my ears. can you not shout like that beside my ears!” grunts Hans.
