Jasper and Rachel rent a car for their trip during a vacation in Sapporo. They will stay at one of the best Japanese inns in Sapporo. The inn they occupied was quite far from the city center.
"Luckily, the steering wheel in Japan is the same as in England, with the right wheel" Jasper smiled as he drove his car towards their destination.
"Yes. You have no trouble driving" Rachel confirmed.
"I've actually driven on the left wheel in America and other mainland European countries. It felt so stiff" Jasper said as he continued to drive the car through the snowy streets of Sapporo.
"Jasper, why do the British, Japanese, and Australian countries drive on the right?" Rachel seemed curious. (Including Indonesia).
"All I know is that the origin of driving on the right was due to the British custom of being under Roman rule. At that time, almost all activities using the right hand," Jasper explained what he knew to his wife.
"Then, with Australia?" Rachel seemed interested.
"Australians drive on the right is obviously due to British influence. Australia is a British Commonwealth country" Jasper replied, still looking at the streets.
"Then, what about the history of driving on the left wheel like the American country?" Rachel asked with curiosity.
"The reason for this is that the custom dates back to an age when cows were used to draw a pedicure in the United States" Jasper lightly said.
"Do you have an international driving license?" Rachel looked to find out.
"of course. I wouldn't dare drive a car if I didn't have a SIM" Jasper laughed.
"Will our inn have a hot spring bath? It's so cold here" complained Rachel, who found Sapporo's temperatures at minus 10 degrees today.
"of course. Let's soak in the Onsen!" Take Jasper with gusto.
"Onsen?" Rachel looked confused.
"Yes. Onsen is a hot spring. Japan has hot springs because in this country there are many active volcanoes. Know it? Japanese people love to soak especially in Onsen. Arriving at the inn let's try!" Take Jasper with spirit.
"Come on! I can't wait to warm myself in the hot water! It must have been a lot of fun" Rachel was no less excited.
"Oh yes. There are two types of Onsen. There is an outdoor onsen called Roten-Boru. There is an Onsen in the room commonly known as Notun-Buro. Where do you want to soak?"
"In the room only. I'm ashamed to be outside" Rachel hurriedly replied.
"Outside the room is private. There will be no one else but us. You can see firsthand the falling snow and the beautiful winter sky" Jasper gave his argument.
"Then the Onsel's outside. What was his name? No-t," Rachel seemed to remember the type of onsen her husband mentioned earlier.
"Ah, my tongue is sprained when I mention Japanese!" Rachel rubbed her lips.
"You are!" Jasper stroked Rachel with anxiety to the point of making the girl stunned.
90 Minutes later, they arrived at the intended inn.
"Well, I was like watching an anime," Rachel was amazed to see the inn that was quite far from the sparkling frenzy of the city of Sapporo.
"Let's go in!" Jasper had his suitcase and Rachel's suitcase removed from the trunk. They are greeted by three people assigned to serve all the needs of Jasper and Rachel during the stay.
"Hey, Bulgarian girl! Take off your shoes!" Jasper exclaimed as Rachel put on her shoes into the inn.
"Why should I take it off?" Rachel asked in confusion.
"Oh so. Sorry, I don't know," Rachel crouched down to take off her boots.
"Put it on this Genkan!" Jasper pointed at the small room in front of the entrance.
"Bright?" Rachel was confused.
"The tenon is the boundary between inside and outside the house" Jasper took off his shoes.
"Please, put these slippers on, Miss!" Said an oriental-faced female employee who was fluent in English. The employee was seen wearing a covered kimono while giving two pairs of sandals to Rachel and Jasper.
"Thank you," Rachel put on a wooden sandal and walked into the inn.
Rachel walked towards her room while looking at the design and interior of her current inn. The floor and walls of this inn are decorated with ornaments that are thick with Japanese atmosphere.
"This is her room?" Rachel asked her husband who was tailing behind.
"Yes," Jasper nodded while still carrying the suitcase in his hand.
"Rooms at this inn are available with Tatami floors. Please Miss and Master enjoy your rest!" Said an employee who was driving them.
"We live next door to this inn. We'll get you ready for dinner. If there's anything, sir and Miss just press that bell over there!" Say the employee politely.
"Well, thank you for working so hard" Jasper bowed his body in Japanese fashion. The employee also bowed his body and left the couple.
"We're going to sleep here?" Rachel sat on the bed.
"Yes. This is a traditional Japanese mattress. This mattress can be folded if we already use it. And that's Kotatsu. Kotatsu is a short table-shaped warmer," Jasper pointed to a short table beside the mattress.
"We're getting into it?" Rachel looked at the table.
"No. We just need to put our feet up to our waist down the table."
"Oh so. I'm not very confident about being your wife. I don't know anything" Rachel showed her gloomy face. He felt like someone bod*h.
"Hey, Bulgarian girl! You don't have to be sad. There I will always teach you and tell you," Jasper cupped his wife's cheek gently.
"really? Well then, I'll always be close to you so I can be as smart as you are" Rachel cupped Jasper's hand on her cheek.
There was a warm sigh as Jasper looked at his wife's shady smile. His heart was pumped faster.
"It's like there's electricity running through my body" Jasper said, looking at his wife's shady face.
"I don't want to be taped to you" Jasper let go of his hand because his feelings were completely out of whack.
"Why?" Rachel pursed her lips.
"don't want. You always forget what I said" Jasper pretended to refuse.
"That was it. I won't forget again. Teach me again yes, Mr Jasper!" Rachel hugged Jasper's neck like a child sulking.
"Yes, I'll teach you," Jasper laughed.
"Yeah!!" Rachel cheered as she continued to hug her husband's neck.
