Today, is a bad day in Shanum's life. How not, when all women are happy to welcome the birth of their baby but not with Shanum. The feeling of anxiety and confusion makes him dizzy and stressed. Her husband Devan Agya Mahendra said; will divorce Shanum this time, if the child she was born was a female again.
Shanum's second day in the hospital, postpartum. But the woman still did not want to see her child, let alone suckle him.
"Shanum, do you feel better?" asked Hana's doctor that afternoon, when he wanted to control Shanum's condition.
"My body's fine, doc! I want to get home soon" whined Shanum.
"How, whether your decision has been made, to give up your baby to someone else" Hana's doctor repeated.
Shanum was silent for a moment. His eyes glazed over again, and he said, "Dok, I'm sure I won't bring my son home."
"What if your husband asks?"
Shanum smiled bitterly.
"He won't care, doc! I'd say my son died" Shanum looked out the window of the room where he was being treated. Evil and selfish, that's what Shanum is now.
"I had to do it, Doc! for the good and happiness of my son. Had it been, if I had brought the baby into Mahendra's family, Sonia wouldn't have let me take care of her. Just like Miss Sonia did to my three children before," Shanum said.
Doctor Hana took a slow breath, she understood what had happened to Shanum. Doctor Hana nodded slowly.
"I've found the right adoptive parents for her, but there's a letter you need to sign" Hana's doctor said.
"I'll sign it, Doc!"
"Then, tomorrow before you go home, come to my room!" tell doctor Hana.
"Okay, Doc!" answer Shanum.
Shanum stepped foot down the aisle of the hospital, to the room of Doctor Hana who was on the left wing of the Maternity Hospital Darling Bunda complex.
"Please sign, Shanum!" doctor Hana orders, while thrusting a piece of paper and pen. Shanum quickly signed the adoption papers, without reading the contents. Shanum didn't want to know.
"You don't want to see your son just once!" haggard Doctor Hana. Shanum shook his head again. Shanum felt, it was better for him, not to look at the baby, so that his heart would not hesitate.
After signing the affidavit and paying the entire hospital fee, Shanum immediately walked out of the room and prepared to go home.
...****************...
With a limp step, Shanum walked into the mansion of the Mahendra family residence. A Range Rover car is white, parked in the yard of the house. Looks like Devan was at home that afternoon, having not been home since a few days ago.
"MUND ...!" call Shera and Shena, welcome Shanum before the entrance of the house. Everyone in the guest room looked at Shanum. There also sits a beautiful, sexy, long-haired woman sitting with Devan and Lady Sonia as well as her eldest daughter, Jasmine. The woman stared sinisterly at Shanum.
"Darling, you're okay, right!" Shanum hugged his two daughters tightly.
"Yes, Mother! where's the baby ?" ask little Shena.
"I'm sorry, Mother, son! the baby was picked up by God and taken to heaven" Shanum said sadly.
"Why is the baby's sister taken to heaven, Mother? why didn't Mommy take her home?" the Shena twins pulled Shanum's hand, as if the child did not understand what the mother meant.
"The baby's sister died, Shena. He's gone and left us" said Shanum, stroking the face of his 4-year-old twin daughter.
"The baby's sister is a boy or a girl, Mother!" ask Sheira.
"His brother is a dear man, but he left because no one wanted his presence in this house, "Shanum said deliberately raising her tone. Devan stared intently at him, the man got up and approached Shanum.
"Whatdidyou say? your baby's a boy ? then where's the body?" snapped Devan pulled Shanum's hand violently.
"It was buried by the hospital!" shanum ketus.
Devan rubbed his face violently.
"Honey, don't be so angry with Shanum, soon our child will be born, our child is definitely a boy, right," The woman who was with Lady Sonia, approached Devan with her evil smile.
Shanum looked at the woman and tried to remain calm, but deep down he felt an indescribable pain. She turns out to be Lady Sonia's chosen wife, named Vania.
"Devan, divorce me!" shanum said, Shanum snatched. The man was silent.
"I can't take it anymore, Devan ! let me go, I'll take the cymbals with me,"
"You can't take the descendants of Mahendra's family out of this house, if you want to leave, just go!" Sarcas Lord Adam Mahendra came out of his room, when he heard a noise in the guest room.
Shanum could hardly believe Arogan's words.
"BECAUSE YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM, YOU'RE JUST AN UNEDUCATED VILLAGE WOMAN !" blame Madam Sonia loudly.
"WHO SAYS I CAN'T TAKE CARE OF MY SON!, YOU WHO WON'T LET ME TOUCH THEM, BEING A MOTHER DOESN'T REQUIRE THE HONORABLE MISS SONIA'S DIPLOMA!" challenge Shanum.
"ENOUGH SHANUM...! I'LL divorce you, TALAK TIGA!" devan stressed. Made Lady Sonia smile wide. So is Vania, his new wife. While Jasmine was Shanum's eldest daughter, just looked at the family drama from upstairs.
"It is with pleasure that I leave this hell, Mr. Devan Agya Mahendra. Thank you, for giving me this precious life lesson, I will not forget it" Shanum said sternly. The woman turned around, and left without looking back, dragging her briefcase which had been brought from the hospital. Regardless of her two crying twin daughters calling for her Mother.
Shanum boarded a taxi that happened to pass in front of him. His cry broke as he sat in the taxi, leaving the driver shocked and astonished. But the driver was silent while thrusting tissue into Shanum's hand.
"Thank you, sir !" shanum said while wiping away the tears that had soaked his cheeks.
"Where are you going, Non ?" asked the driver, after Shanum's cry had subsided.
"To the terminal, Sir !"
"Yes...!"

SHANUM POV
My name is Shanum Anindira, people call me Shanum. I've been an orphan since I was 12. Both my parents died in a road accident, while going to the wedding of a friend of my father's office in Bandung. Living alone, I had to quit school and struggle to make a living on my own just to eat and pay for electricity and water bills. Thankfully, my neighbors are very nice and love me.
"Shanon...! here's some rice for you, "Mak Ningsih came up to me, as I was sweeping on the porch.
"Thank you, Mom! Is the trade finished, Mak?"my many.
"Alhamdulillah was selling well" a smile was painted on the old face.
"Thank God Mak, oh yeah Mak, there's no work for Shanum?" I said to Mak Ningsih who was still standing in front of my house.
"Mmmh, what work does Num do ? " Mak Ningsih seemed to think for a moment.
"Anything is okay, Mom! halal origin," I said.
"Tomorrow Mak asked the same people in the market, if anyone wants to give you a job." continued Mak Ningsih.
"Yes Mommy ...!" answer's short.
At a young age, I worked to earn money. I work at a Cafe, the owner is a woman named Aunt Soraya, I call her Aunt Raya.
Initially, the cafe owned by aunt Raya I worked as a dishwasher and helped Aunt Raya clean vegetables and side dishes that would be cooked. But now I can cook and mix good drinks to be resold.
I feel at home working at aunty Raya's, that 60-year-old woman is very kind to me, and treats me like her own daughter.
"Shanum, can you cook fried rice ?" bibi Raya asked, that afternoon during the break.
"I can learn quickly, because my aunt taught me patiently," I said sincerely.
"Good then, auntie can now count on you, if one day aunt goes, you can replace aunt dicafe !" said Auntie Raya smiled sweetly at me.
"Where is aunt going?" aska I want to know.
"Ke Jakarta, you see, aunt's children want to be born, so aunt must be there. Maybe in about 3 months!"
"Oh, it's still a long time ya bi, I can still learn a lot.I can definitely !" my resolve.
"Auntie is happy with your spirit, Num, hopefully you can succeed later if aunt is not here !"
Bibi Raya, always teaches not only about cooking, but also about life and how to do culinary business. And he was proud of my ability to learn everything that the beautiful woman taught me.
Initially, the cafe owned by aunt Raya I worked as a dishwasher, and helped Aunt Raya clean vegetables and side dishes that would be cooked. But now I can cook and mix good drinks to be sold in the cafe aunty Raya.
By working at the cafe, at least I did not bother to think about the meal money, because Aunt Raya gave me lunch rations and dinner. And if there is any excess food, I will bring it to Mak Ningsih, my neighbor who also lives alone.
At the moment, I am 22 years old, .I grew up to be a beautiful and charming girl. Many men in the village wanted to propose to me to be their wife. But I didn't make that appeal, because I just wanted to marry the person I love.
