Chapters 30. Patience

"So what do you want, Sam?"

"Sway him!" The baritone's voice sounded very firm.

Lia was surprised, speechless as if not daring even to take a breath. He felt that the man before him was so cold and frightening. The man was very inversely proportional to his behavior when in front of the camera.

The man moved away while looking at her sharply. In his eyes, a sense of disappointment.

Leonard looked at his father and mother with a strange look. He could not understand what was going on.

"Mommy, daddy. Are you guys mad?" tanyakanya.

Sam turned to look at Leon with a gentle look. "Of course it's not a pity, we're discussing the future of our family" he replied.

"Mommy, is daddy going to stay with us?" ask the little boy. His eyes wanted an answer from his parents.

Lia returned that innocent look without being able to give an answer. Samuel stared at him sharply, making him even less warty.

"No, Leon. We remain together as usual" he replied without returning Sam's gaze which seemed to be very intimidating to him.

Sam laughed, "Well Lia, we'll bet on how long the young doctor will last."

"Sam, don't bother him. Even he has no business with you" he said furiously.

"Ah-you're right. He has no business with me." Sam leaned back, bringing his face closer to Lia's face. "He'll deal with me from now on."

"Leon, daddy's gonna pick you up and drive you home tomorrow. Be excited, baby" he said before leaving us.

"Mommy" said the little boy from his bed.

"Hmm..," said Lia who was busy packing all the dirty clothes and items she would bring home.

"Why don't you want to live with daddy?"

The question that suddenly came out of her tiny lips, was completely impossible for her to answer. For Lia, Sam is a stranger, she knows nothing of him, his character and his cold, rude yet sometimes sweet nature.

A knock on the door, saved him from the boy's question.

"Little whiz, you can go home today. Om wants you to always be healthy and someday hear you swipe this violin." Radith gives a hardcase with a large blue ribbon decorating it.

"Wow..the new violin." The boy immediately opened the binding tape. A bright smile was painted on his face.

"Can I play it now?"

"Well, even the infusion hasn't come off your hand yet." Radith seemed pleased to see Leon's enthusiasm when he received his prize.

"Thank you, Om."

"Well, I live first, because many patients still have to see."

Radith leaves Leon still happily hugging his violin.

Lia helped him put the violin back on his hardcase. The little boy looked at him, "Mam, you haven't answered my question. Do you want to say it, now?"

Lia frowned, as if she did not understand what her son's question was.

"So tell me, why don't you want to live with daddy?" reworked.

Lia sat down beside her son. He did not realize that someone was starting to listen to their conversation from the door.

"Leon, daddy is a stranger to mommy. Mommy never knew daddy. Even mommy's not sure, daddy loves us." Lia told all the reasons clearly to her son.

"But mam-"

"Leon, believe. Mommy will give you the best, even without daddy." Lia immediately cut out the words of her little boy before she asked him other things that he could not answer.

"Daddy!" leon happily exclaimed.

Lia gasp. He was shocked at Sam's arrival. Nervously the woman returned packing the remaining items to take home.

Sam extended his hand to Lia. Confused, Lia looked at him. He saw a smile on his lips.

"Sorry," he said briefly.

"For what?"

"For the misunderstanding that's going on between us" Sam replied. His eyes looked softer than usual. "I see, I can't force you just because of Leon."

"Leon our son. But we don't even know each other." Lia began to dare to speak her heart. "And one more thing, you don't even once carry out your duties as a father. Once I ask for your help, you even ask for a reward for it."

"Are you talking about me? Is your fight because of me?" leon asked in confusion.

"No dear, don't mind mami and daddy" said Lia. "Wait here. Mommy's gonna talk to daddy about something."

Lia immediately dragged Sam's hand out of the room. Sam just walked around willingly following him, he tried to remain patient. The only way to approach it is just to be patient. Be patient in listening to everything he wants to say.

Lia pulled her hand out of the building towards the garden. A place where not many people will be interested in their conversation.

Some people glanced at them. Undeniably, Sam is a world-class artist who is quite popular. Including Radith, he was surprised to see events that he could not imagine. Sam obediently followed Lia's steps. Doesn't look like an intimidating figure like yesterday.

When the two of them had reached a quiet place, Sam suddenly pulled a small hand that dragged him until Lia had to smash into his chest. Sam hugged her.

Lia was surprised, with a reflex move she pushed Sam's body away from her.

"Do you think I'm a cheap woman because of what happened 8 years ago and now you're going to treat me as you please?" lia asked with anger.

"True, eight years ago I actually looked cheap. Unaware of what I'm doing and doing things I shouldn't be doing with people I don't even know" he continued.

"Sam, I don't know you at all. I know very little about you. Just as a musician." Lia raised both her hands. "And I'm very - very - very sure if you don't even know my name."

"I don't want to regret my decision" continued Lia.

Samuel sighed, he lowered his face and looked like he was sorry for something.

"alright. We'll start over." Sam extended his right hand. "Let's get acquainted."

With hesitation, Lia welcomed his helping hand. "My name is Samuel Augusto."

"Cornelia Christa Hartomo" he said.

"So Cornelia Christa Hartomo, will you be my friend?" ask Sam

A new beginning for them. A new book they will write together.
