"How can you bravely fight your upperclassman and not get hurt?" ask Mr. Ray.
"I mastered a little tae-boxing, sir."
"Tae-boxing? How intriguing. Where'd you learn that?"
A mysterious smile curved on the little boy's lips. The counseling teacher's curiosity went unanswered, when suddenly there was a knock on the door.
Lia's face poked out from behind the door. He came in and closed the door again.
Ray looked at the pretty face in front of him. "Are you Leon's mother?"
"Really, Sir. I'm sorry, I'm leaving here immediately after receiving a call from you."
"Please sit down, mother," she told Lia. "Leon, go back to your class."
Leon nodded obediently and stepped out of the room. Ray followed his small steps with the corner of his eye.
After the boy came out, Raynold began his serious conversation with Lia.
"Leonard Savero, the mother's son was having a hard time. He did not do the task that his teacher had given him,"
"Are you not wrong, sir? Leon's never been like that before." Lia was so surprised.
"Maybe you're right, it's all because he doesn't know what to write for his job" Ray said.
"If you may know, what duty, sir?"
"Regarding his family. Family tree."
Lia sighed. His feelings are so fucked up. Anxiety enveloped his feelings. How will he address this issue.
His restlessness can be read by Ray. "Has his father gone? Or rather he's still there but you keep it a secret."
Lia surprised. He stared at the pair of brown beads in front of him. "Did he know something?" his inner.
"Are my guesses correct?"
Lia lowered her head, nervously she replied. "I was hiding it."
The man smiled with great dignity. The smile that calmed Lia's heart was so agitated.
"He deserves to know his father, he deserves the love of both his parents as a whole, Mother."
Lia bit her lips. "I can't tell Leon."
The man looked at Lia with a gentle look. "Maybe if you don't mind, you can tell me. I promise to find a solution for Leon."
After pausing and thinking for a moment, Lia finally brushed aside the doubts in her heart. He began to tell the story of the biggest mistake of his life. His foolishness caused him to accept the consequences of having a child at his young age, even without a father.
Lia was so happy, her son grew up to be a genius and talented child like the father. But on the other hand his heart was in turmoil whenever his little boy tenaciously asked for the whereabouts of the father.
"If you may know, why don't you even say what his father's name is," Raynold looked confused. "what's the reason?"
"Because he was Samuel Augusto. And I don't want to be considered a fame seeker with a confession."
Ray took a breath. "I understand."
The young teacher scratched his head. His two beads of eyes stared intently at the young mother before him. He digested the problem and began to apply it to the knowledge he had learned.
"A child, needs someone as their guideline to behave. I hope you have a solution to this problem soon. He needed a father figure" said the young teacher.
"So there was an incident at the break between the children" Mr Ray said.
"Did Leon do something?" Lia's eyes were round, she was surprised to hear Mr. Ray's story. Lia becomes astonished about Leon's change. While in Singapore, he was never involved with any issues. Everything is perfect and all the teachers always praise his achievements.
"No, she was teased by her friends for not being able to name her parents. And it seemed like he had found a best friend," said the young teacher. "The character is very strong. He could not accept if his friend was bullied. And yes, be that incident."
"Has anyone hurt?"
"That's the question for me. How could a child as small as Leon overcome his upperclassman's attacks unharmed, without retaliating but making his opponent in pain." The young teacher nodded back. "Leon said that he studied Tae-boxing. Really it?"
"Tae-boxing? I never included him in any martial arts activities. And he's never been involved in anything like this." Lia seemed to be in disbelief if what they were talking about this time was Leon, her son.
Ray looked at the young mother before him. A beautiful face, not a single wrinkle decorated her pale face. In his heart a question arises, what exactly makes him close himself, his heart so that it does not want to accept a man in his life. Is there something traumatic even very impossible if no man approached if he saw a beautiful flower.
"Sir..," Lia's call made her realize from her daydream. "Would you ask him where he learned tae-boxing from?"
"Eh, yes. Eh, sorry. I didn't have time to ask that question," the young teacher replied clumsily.
"And was his friend hurt, sir?" asked Lia worriedly.
"He fell because of his own missed attack. There are no serious injuries. You don't have to worry about it too much. Just my advice, it's good that you open your heart. Leon needs a role model."
Lia smiled bitterly. Looking for a father for Leon? I don't know if he's capable of finding someone who really loves Leon like his own son.
"Alright sir, if there's nothing more to talk about, I beg you. And thank you for your concern for Leon," said Lia. Mr. Ray just nodded politely.
The school sign bell rang as Lia was about to exit the counseling room, soon after scattering tiny creatures from every door along the school corridor.
A tiny hand clasped his hand and pulled him towards the gate, following the stream of students moving towards it.
Lia looked at the owner of the tiny hand. Seeing a smile that decorated his lips and the gentle gaze of his eyes. "alright. Let's go home," said Lia.
*****
"So where did you learn Tae-boxing, Leon?" lia asked when they had reached the car.
Leon who was putting on the safety belt turned to look at his mother. "Did Mr Ray tell you that?"
Lia nodded, she began to move the gears to one tooth and turned her wheel full to the right to exit her parking lot.
"I learned it from google mom. Great martial arts." Leon tells of his science.
"But for what? You're still very small."
"Leon wants to take care of mami!"
