Chapter 9. Be my Beloved

The car stopped in front of the Savero family home. The little boy came out of his door with a face of a crumpled with a bag swaying on his back.

Lia greeted him at the door of the house with a fluffy smile.

"Mommy." The little boy rushed into Lia's arms.

The young man walked behind the little boy tote a plastic bag containing a responsibility-sized box. The man smiled at the woman while extending his luggage.

"What'sthis? Why do I look so troublesome now?"

"No hassle. You just had lunch and saw some pretty cakes in the storefront. Then we thought of you." The young teacher looked embarrassed.

"Thank you, Mr. Ray."

"Call Ray. Our age is not far away" he said. "And I guess I'll visit a lot now."

Lia became confused as to why she should visit so often. "No need to bother, sir. uh, Ray. Leon I'll take good care of it at home."

"No, it's not. I mean, uh-" Ray's kind of choked up so nervous. "Leon asked me for help, to take care of you while he was in quarantine."

Lia's eyes were rounded. "Leon? Put me to you?"

Lia was dumbfounded, she thought what was the intention behind it. Does Leon trust this guy in front of him? Does Leon like him and want his teacher as his father's replacement? What was the real surprise behind this little boy's plan.

Lia smiled melting the tension between them. "I think he trusted you so much."

A look of relief on his face. Lia smiled, this man before her is so innocent. He can't even be as smart as Leon to cover up his feelings. Body gestures and facial expressions are always easily read.

Lia thought, maybe Leon was right. She could accept it with her past mistakes and accept her baby with the same abundant affection that Lia gave her.

"alright. The door of the house will always be open to Leon's beloved teacher" Lia replied later.

"Alright Leon, you need to show me your talent. Now I'm going home first" said Ray, shuffling the hair of the little boy who still hugged his mother in front of him.

Leon waves his hand as Ray begins to turn his back and walks out of the gate of his house.

"Are you happy today?" lia asked her little boy while guiding him inside the house.

"Yeah, Mr. Ray bought me a delicious steak."

"Hmm. You must be, for sure," said Lia teasing her son.

"Sir Ray, he's a good man mam."

Lia smiled gently, "Then what is your purpose in asking her to look after mommy?"

"Mommy, Leon wants a daddy. If you don't want to say and keep hiding Leon's father, at least you give Leon daddy, like the other kids."

This time Lia became surprised and looked nervous. "Darling, w-what do you mean? You want your mom to marry someone?"

Leon nodded. "Leon can't keep looking after mommy. How about Leon's in the quarantine house? Leon can't be calm leaving mommy at home."

"Mommy's an adult, Leon. Mami can even take care of herself, Mami" replied Lia gently.

Leon shook his head. "No. Mommy is so beautiful. It would be dangerous to be alone at home."

Lia smiled amusedly at the words that kept coming out from her little boy's tiny lips. There was a sense of pride in his heart, how well his little boy had grown, was very considerate and very affectionate towards him.

"alright. Mommy surrendered. Mami come with what you want. Actually mami does not want to get married, because she hesitates to get the best daddy for you," said Lia with a sigh. The closet in the corner of Leon's room. He took a suit of transformers from there and stepped back on the leak.

"Change clothes first, baby." Lia put the clothes on her son's bed. He began to remove the red white clothes from his son's body. "What are you going to do after this?"

"Perform your body first. Don't be so tired, baby." Lia picked up the school uniform and gently stroked her son's hair then kissed his forehead. "If you need it, mommy's in the kitchen."

Leon nodded with a smile.

"Leon, are you going home?" asked Ray who was pulling his head out of the room. A smile appeared on his lips. "Go in for a minute."

"But sir" he said. "Mommy must have been waiting for me at the gate."

"No. Mom is waiting for you at home. I told you I was going to take you home." replied Ray.

Leon's eyes are round, mami told Mr Ray to take me home? Or did Mr Ray offer himself? Whatever it is, it seems like one of them or even both of them already have an interest.

Leon smiled thinking of things beyond his comprehension. Finally he could feel having a father, a friend to share his stories and experiences with.

Leon follows Ray into the counselling room. He saw the man tidying his desk in a hurry into his closet and locked it back.

"Alright Leon. Thank you for waiting. Now we go home." The man embraced the little boy's shoulder and guided him out of the school gate. "What do you want for lunch?"

"Spaghetty," said Leon excitedly. He stepped quickly offset the wide stride of Mr. Ray next to him. His back bag moved in swinging along with his quick little steps.

"Come on. I know a restaurant with good spaghetty" said Mr. Ray with a smile on his lips. "You must like it."

"Mommy," said Leon, scattering into the arms of the beautiful woman at his doorstep. The woman opened both of her arms with a gentle smile on her lips.

"Leon, how was your day?" ask Lia. "Are you guys having fun today?"

"Mommy, look. Sir Ray gave me this funny t-shirt." Leon opened the paperbag in his hand. "This one's for mommy. And Mr. Ray has the same shirt we have. We can wear them together one time."

Lia looked at the man before her while smiling blushed. Lia responded with a faint smile on her lips.

"Come on Leon, mommy wants to talk to Mr. Ray for a second. Change your clothes." Lia ordered her son to come in. Of course, Lia did not want her son to hear their talk. The boy went into the house with his obedience.

Lia led Mr. Ray to the park chair. "Ray, you're not supposed to do this. I'm so bad at bothering you."

"I don't feel bothered by things like this at all, Lia. I like Leon. And I guess.." said Mr. Ray in a nervous and doubtful tone, "i like you, Lia."

"But Ray, I've told you all the stories of my past. Do you want to take it? My past is dark" asked Lia in disbelief.

"I don't think it was your fault, Lia. You were unconscious at the time. I can swear at him" said the young man. "So, will you be my lover Lia?" 🙏
