My Own Korean Drama
Chapter 4 - The Main Role

Heeded,

Supported,

Attention center.

Main role.

The Summer 2013

Light entered through the windows illuminating the pulpit ahead. I became one of the people sitting in the church seat. The choir began to draw voices, the other congregation sang along. I opened my mouth to sing a song I had never heard. Of course, it's a Korean song. I am not a faithful church member but I still have that faith.

“Cut!” This drama director. Is correct. It just takes footage for the upcoming drama. I'm just a figure who came to the church. A role that will not even be recognized. I stared at the envy of the Main Cast. Even my clothes are better than the clothes she wears but I'm just a figure.

I walked over to Su Ryeon Unnie who was standing behind the camera. The woman smiled to welcome me. After the Main Cast was satisfied with the result, everyone bowed to each other, and thanked me and Su Ryeon Unnie. If most actresses are going to be facilitated van by her agency, my car is Su Ryeon Unnie's. Go PD-nim's remarks are indeed true, Purple Entertainment is not ready to debut an actress. I smiled bitterly remembering that.

After filming was over, Su Ryeon Unnie invited me to dinner at a store near dorm. Kim Hyun Sik walked into the dining room while I was eating my ramen. Su Ryeon Unnie greeted him and invited him to join our table.

“You alone?” Su Ryeon Unnie asked as Hyun Sik finished ordering the food.

another “Member is asleep,” replied Hyun Sik.

“Then why haven't you slept?” Ask this woman next to me while sipping ramen in her bowl.

“I wrote some song lyrics bars with Dae Ho-ssi,” Hyun Sik replied again. From the way he spoke he looked a little awkward, not like yesterday. Dae Ho, Ban Dae Ho is in the quiet, if you forget.

“You always write song lyrics but never give them to PD-nim,” comments Su Ryeon Unnie with a contrived frown. Hyun Sik chuckled lightly then replied, “I think the lyrics I wrote are not perfect yet, I want to give you the perfect.”

“Ehm.” Su Ryeon Unnie cleared her throat as she looked at Hyun Sik nosily.

“I love your spirit, keep it!” praise Su Ryeon Unnie and encourage her. Hyun Sik smiled shyly while looking down. Su Ryeon Unnie finished her meal faster then passed the card to Hyun Sik.

“Pay with this, return it to me tomorrow!” Su Ryeon Unnie's orders then left without another word. Me, and Hyun Sik ate in silence. Both of us were completely dissolved in our minds. After paying, Hyun Sik and I walked back to the dorm. The summer night air blows past anyone. The road uphill made us walk slower than before.

“I heard you guys were going to debut,” I said breaking the silence.

“Yes, I will let you know if the exact date has been set,” Hyun Sik replied. It must be nice to have six people to fight with, I thought.

“Is filming going well, Nuna?” Ask Hyun Sik.

“Yes, it's just a very small role,” I replied.

“Do you want to get the lead role?” Ask Hyun Sik again. I was silent for a moment before answering.

“I think everyone who works on the same road as me would want it,” I replied in the end.

“You're right, everyone has the same desire, but not all of them are successful.”

“Do you think why not of them all successful?” My toot.

“Because many choose to stop before getting the main role even though the main role is in sight,” Hyun Sik replied confidently.

“Yes, this kind of person is four years younger than me, this is so unfair,” my candlestick. Hyun Sik sniffed amusedly then came laughing with me. After arriving at the dorm we both went into each other's rooms. I could hear a noise as Hyun Sik opened the door. They had not slept yet, so why did Hyun Sik say they had slept earlier? I don't know. I thought back to our conversation. Many people want the same position, but many stop before they succeed. Am I going to be the one that works? I'm barely a year into my debut yet I've never had an important role in a drama. I walked to the bathroom ready to go to sleep.

I don't know how long my eyes have been closed, I still can't sleep. My eyes are open again. I saw a window covered in curtains. It's still dark outside. I glanced at the wall clock. It's still 2 in the morning. I really can't sleep. My back has been stiff from lying down since eleven o'clock. I decided to get up, and go to the rooftop. The air was quite cold even though it was already summer, I was wearing a jacket. There was a person standing on the edge of the building. Just with his back alone, I knew that he was Hyun Sik.

“I can't sleep, Nuna herself?” the answer plus the question then snorted.

“I woke up,” I replied then quietly. There was no awkwardness as if we were already used to this.

“Nuna,” call Hyun Sik. I turned to her then, “ehm?”

“Are you scared?”

“Fear what?”

“If don't get the lead role,”

“How about you? Are you afraid that your group will not be liked?” I answered him with a question because I thought the answer would be the same.

“I don't think so, we're seven. We are seven times stronger,” Hyun Sik replied then looked at my face. He's correct. They're seven. They share the same role. They won't be fighting to be the main character.

“Maybe this is strange but since the beginning of my goal to South Korea is not to enter this industry, I accidentally entered this industry,” I replied trying as honestly as possible but did not bring Auriga.

“Then what is your destination to South Korea, Nuna?” Ask Hyun Sik.

“Searching for answers,” answered me then stare at tall buildings.

“Hopefully you can find your answer, Nuna.” Hyun Sik encouraged me without trying to intrude on my privacy. I smiled looking at Hyun Sik. If there was an empty place in there, I would have given it to Hyun Sik. Even though she was four years younger, her way of speaking was not at all childish. He's very mature.

Every story has a major role. The story will focus on the main character, from the beginning to the end of the story. One thing I believe in, although Hyun Sik often appears in my stories, he is not the main character of my story. He only came as a maid. I wonder who will be the main character in my story. Is that Auriga? Or another man? Whoever he is I wish he played that lead role well.

MY OWN KOREAN DRAMA

“Hyun Sik - a, can you drink?” Chris asked half a whisper.

“Ha? I am not old enough to buy it,” replied Hyun Sik.

“You forgot I was four years older than you?”

“Ah, right too,” replied Hyun Sik a little shyly. I'm sure Hyun Sik answered while rubbing his head on the back. After hearing Hyun Sik's reply, Chris went downstairs to buy the drink he meant. My legs began to cramp from squatting behind empty drums.

“Hyung, come out!” Shouted Hyun Sik. So she knew I was here? Brash kid! I stood up then walked over to Hyun Sik in a limp. Hyun Sik then threw himself onto the wooden cot that had always been here. I sat on the edge of that couch.

“You like Chris Nuna?” Hyun Sik asked while observing the stars above.

“Do I look like that?” I asked Hyun Sik to come back while massaging my legs.

“No,” replied Hyun Sik then let out a long sigh. Hyun Sik placed one of his hands behind his neck as a pillow then said, “ no one would have guessed if you put your heart on him, but this is my advice as leader Gu Boy. Please focus on our debut. If you fail, there are six others who must bear. I promise you I'll take care of Nuna as long as you can't have her, but if Nuna's choice is to be with another man, I can't do anything.”

I snorted at his words. Hyun Sik is even more mature than I am. I snorted and chimed in with the question, “what about your advice as a friend?”

“I always support you, hyung, I understand why you fell for her, Nuna is indeed interesting, I almost fell for her.” I haven't been able to answer Hyun Sik's words, the noise from the door was heard, I don't think Chris came alone. The door opens, and a trio of maknae* appear with the girl.
