The snake moved slowly, which reminded Yudi of the enemy's pacing steps to prevent the victim from escaping before it was within range. His black body filled with yellow bracelets ranging from the border of his neck to his tail made Yudi realize how dangerous the snake was approaching the forest chicks. The snake, nicknamed the bracelet snake, matches the yellow bracelets that encircle its body, can spread venom that kills its victim within a matter of no less than two and a half minutes of being bitten.
The jungle chicks are increasingly noisy, screeching up as if they are already on the edge of death and will not be able to escape if help does not come. Yudi cursed in his heart, he could not stand still and let himself be a spectator of something that would be this terrible calamity.
This event for the snake may be a routine scene from the chain of life but find that the snake is targeted only weak creatures so Yudi, with pity, decided to intervene. He had to save those chicks!
The tree trunk was long and almost the size of an adult man's arm that fell not far from where he stood. With a tree trunk in hand as a weapon, the young man ran towards the chicks and he came just in time to beat up the snake that was launching the first attack. Finding a disturbance, the snake hissed furiously. His open mouth flaunted a pair of shiny fangs as a threat that he did not hesitate to throw out any obstructions.
The snake directed its rampage elsewhere. Yudi now stands between the snake and the chick. Grasping his weapon, which is a tree trunk, tightly mounted horses to fight. Yudi hoped that the tree trunk should not be separated from his grasp when fighting with the wild beast. A little carelessness can be fatal because of the life of the stakes!
His pelts flooded in while waiting for the following attack, an attack that only the snake itself knew when to do. The venomous animal moves sideways in a position that remains ready to attack. Occasional hissing threatens with the intention of mentally knocking out the opponent. The effort did not completely fail, although in a standby position and ready for combat actually Yudi's mind began to fret. Especially when the snake cleverly continued to narrow the distance that caused the young man to inevitably continue moving backwards. As a result of his position that continues to be urged, the distance between him and the nest of the jungle chicks is also narrowed.
The young man tried to buy time and tried in such a way as to maintain the width of the distance by swinging the weapon. The frenzied air from the swing of the stick apparently slightly held back the snake's pace and desire to finish his point immediately. The beast also seemed to be looking for the right time to attack.
No time escaped from a standby condition though. Yudi realized this, and so did the snake. At that moment the slithering beast moved like lightning struck. Yudi relied on spontaneous movements, lifting his legs back to avoid the bite then swinging his staff forward to kick away the slithering beast.
The snake rolled over twice before returning to its normal position, looking up at Yudi with an angry look and a noisy hiss. The punch he just received might make the damn beast realize he can't beat his victims easily. This time he found a balanced opponent, who was not just a rooster ready to be swallowed. The snake's mouth gaped as a bluff before finally escaping. Yudi hurried after, the slithering animal might give up today but hunger could not guarantee the snake would not return. It was not completely safe for the chicks before the snake died.
Feeling himself being chased by the animals more quickly crept away. Yudi cursed in annoyance as the animal managed to precede him sneaking back into his hole. Close by carefully the bushes where the snake was last seen disappeared. Behind the bush was an unusual mound, it was possible that there was another snake inside...it might just be the mother of the frightened serpent she had just defeated. If not careful, it is likely that Yudi will be fenced off as a form of revenge for scaring his son and making the snake child fail to get food.
Yudi crouched over and watched the mound closely. It was then that he saw a finger sticking out oddly from behind the ground. Quickly remove moss that covers. Along with the appearance of plants that cover, then the stinging smell was poured into the smell.
The young man stopped for a moment to close his nose. That smell really made him nauseous. Yudi continued the removal of the moss and soil around the strange finger. In the end the young man felt unable to bear it anymore.he retreated with a deathly pale face, his eyes staring in disbelief. That finger is only a fraction of what is hidden down there...
Yudi finally found out who the figure buried there after removing all the soil and weeds. The finger turned out to be El. He still recognized the man's face even though some parts such as the skin of the cheekbones and the skull of the corpse were filled with maggots...

Yudi is still busy with questions in his mind, especially on the reason why El was killed and left inhumanely buried in the middle of the forest, when he arrived at the front yard of Mirna's house. Although the day has begun to day with the rising of the sun in the eastern horizon, in fact there is no visible activity of the women, either Mother of the Roses or Mirna, in the building.
Without interruption through the living room, then the middle room, to the stairs that bring it to his room upstairs. There was no one in that place as if this place was an empty house. As soon as he arrived in the room he threw his ass on the mattress, when he found Mirna out of the bathroom with only wrapped in a towel. On the other hand, Mirna who found Yudi entered the room just like a small strangled contact, ”Yudi...kamu make me shocked.”.
”Sorry,” Yudi responded. ”I'm also surprised to see you come out in such a state.”
”You how else? I'll take a shower,” reply Mirna. ”I woke up and it turns out that you are no longer beside me. Where were you this morning?”
Yudi answered the question, ”Inhaling fresh air.”
Mirna's forehead wrinkled, “And why do you need fresh air? In the morning blind anyway?”
“What need reason for that?” Yudi asked back.
“Neasy to know left the same couple that last night accompanied you to sleep.”
“Sorry, because I had a hard time sleeping last night. Constantly plagued by nightmares. And I didn't get the heart to wake you up, so I took a walk myself this morning.”.
“To clear your mind,” Mirna to look back at Yudi, ”Only that?”
”Only that!”
”Actually I'm looking for support.”
”I don't understand,” Mirna looked at Yudi with round eyes.
Yudi looked at the old Mirna, ”I'm a little embarrassed to say this, I need El's advice more. I mean.he was right about that green lake.that place awakens our love. But there are other things I want to discuss with him.”
The girl stared in disbelief, ”So you went to El?”
”El did say that they will leave sooner or later.”
”Without saying goodbye to you? It doesn't seem like El.”
“Trust me, it is already his nature. I know him better than you.”
“But don't you feel weird?” yudi. “We just had lunch with El two days ago. At that time the circus troupe was not seen getting ready or planning to leave.”
“Indeed,” Mirna memorize. “But we don't know how circus characters are? It could not be a big deal, and I'm sure they are deft enough to clean up the equipment and tents in just a few hours once the decision from their heads is obtained.”
“Iya also..” said Yudi. “But indeed you are not sad because El did not keep the promise to come here to see you and mother?”
Mirna smiled wryly, “Of course I'm sad. It's just that I'm sure El didn't dare in the first moment he said that to me.”
Yudi looked at Mirna sadly, meaning the girl did not know the unfortunate fate that befell her brother. If El died so tragically, the question is, where did the circus troupe go with him? Did they leave him alone or buried with El there but he had not been found because Yudi had not dug deeper?
“Means you know she'll leave without any sayings like already?”
“I have prepared myself for that possibility, although I still hope he comes so that El and mother make up..” the girl arbitrarily sits on Yudi's lap and embraces him spoiled. ”...or at least say goodbye to us. Goodbye is enough to relieve tension, right?”
Yudi's memory of the past that just returned whispers something that his mind will be able to make the young man understand if Mirna really loves him, ”May I ask you something, Mir?”
”Ask what?” said Mirna.
”You know I love you and I don't want to be separated from you. But I don't want to make Siska sad, like El makes you sad by leaving without saying anything. So what do you think, do I need to say goodbye to Siska?”
”In other words you want to go to Jakarta to meet Siska?” mirna asked after some time stunned to hear the question Yudi had uttered. Presumably the girl did not expect Yudi to ask such a thing.
On the other hand, Yudi continued to urge, smiling inwardly because Mirna did not know what she knew about meyang, black magic, and Mirna herself who was one of its adherents. The young man asked further, ”Yes, to reveal the contents of my heart about us to him. That way, my feelings can be relieved when I come back here to start our love story.”
Mirna's mouth shriveled thinly, ”While I thought you wanted to stay here.”
”I want,” Yudi quick reply. ”The problem..this is the problem that I discussed with El..I do not know how to tell Siska in the middle of her pregnant condition. It might sound like treason but this condition was something he had to deal with. I'm not the right guy for him and that there's no longer any sense between the two of us because I've chosen you.”
”The problem is you go to Jakarta because of the burden of having to be responsible to Siska's parents. If you don't want to actually you don't need to go.”
”Only changed destination. You don't want me to be irresponsible for what I say, do you?”
”I object because if you do that you can-can you get stuck there, once his parents ask you to take responsibility surely you are not good to refuse. Your high humanity will encourage you to do what he thinks is right, even though you want to be with me so that we can live happily ever after.”
”For what do I agree that Siska does not necessarily want me?” sahut Yudi's.
”Why do you think Siska doesn't want you?”
Yudi shrugged, ”Maybe not! But I no longer want it.”
”Well, that! If you do you think Siska will let you go?” Mirna is still trying to deflect Yudi's mind. ”And will Siska's parents not kill you? You made their child pregnant and now you have decided to leave the girl after she became pregnant.”
Yudi understood Mirna's reluctance to let her go, ”To try. If he doesn't want to, he should! I've made that decision!”
Because Mirna was silent, Yudi again said, ”What do you think?”
”I don't know..I can't give you an answer..”.
