David just opened his eyes. Tiredness and dizziness that felt all night, seemed to make the man sleep so soundly, so he did not realize that the time had shown at 07:00 WIB.
The man slightly rubbed his eyes while neutralizing his still faint vision. The man turned to the right side, then left, looking for Aretha, a figure who had been waiting for him all night. Unfortunately, this figure he could not find.
The man raised his body until he sat perfectly on the bed, then he circulated his gaze in various directions. Her net seemed to be tracing every corner of the room. However, he still did not find the figure he was looking for.
"Where is he?" he muttered while stunned. "This early morning has gone out?" added wonder.
The man yawned for a moment, before he finally laid back his body as usual.
A few minutes he waited, Aretha still did not appear before him. I don't know where the girl went. He left without leaving any message to David.
Even so, David was still patiently waiting, maybe Aretha was having some business outside, he thought.
It had been almost an hour, Aretha had still not come as well, where exactly did the girl go? It really made David feel anxious at that time.
"Is it possible that the doctor called her while I was asleep? But ... where is it possible so early? Where is he really?" David began to wonder.
The man looked back at the bathroom in the room, then got out of bed. Dizziness that last night disturbed him, it was gone, after being given medication and rested.
The man walked over to the bathroom, thinking that Aretha might be there, although it was very unlikely because there was no sound in there.
"Darling, are you inside?" david, of course, got no answer.
David opened the bathroom door. He easily opened the unlocked door, and sure enough Aretha was not there.
"Aargha!" his erang. It's pretty frustrating.
The man returned to his original place, intending to take his smartphone. His gaze focused on that flat object. He immediately grabbed it, after the rectangular-shaped object was not far from his heart.
David seemed to be fiddling with the object in search of Aretha's contact, but he stopped immediately, remembering that Aretha had not brought a mobile phone.
"Ah, yesterday he did not have time to bring a cellphone, how can I contact him," he said while putting on a slightly disappointed expression.
The man remembered Richard. "Is he going to Richard's room?" he said while thinking. "Yes, maybe he's there, I should call Rendy right away, maybe he's still there too" he added.
David immediately wants to find Rendy's contact. However, he immediately abandoned his intention, when the door of the room suddenly opened. He turned his head to the door, hoping that the one who came was Aretha. However, his hope soon disappeared, when only a nurse entered the room.
"Good morning! It's awake apparently. How's it going, it's better?" the nurse said hello. He seemed to be publishing his smile.
"August, Sus! I think I've been much better" replied David.
"Thank God, but it still has to be checked first yes, Mas," replied a nurse known as Shinta, when viewed from her name tag.
David just nodded in response, then he put his phone back on the nightstand with a focused look towards the bed.
Not long after, David again lay on the bed and did a series of bullying by the nurse.
In the midst of his activities, David turned to the nurse. "Sus, did Sister see my lover, who was waiting here last night?" he hesitated a little.
"Mister Aretha?" ask Shinta.
Yes, Shinta does know Aretha, because she was the nurse who told Aretha about David's condition last night.
"Yes. Sister knew him?" david asked a little enthusiastically.
"I haven't seen him yet this morning, Mas," Shinta replied, which made David again feel disappointed.
"It's done. The result is good, it looks like today we can go home," said the nurse, after finishing with her activities.
"Thank you, Sus," said David, who replied with a smile.
"Alright, I stay first, excuse me," said Shinta.
"Sus, if you see Aretha, please tell me to look for her" said David who immediately nodded the head of the nurse. Shinta immediately came out of the room.
David got back up, when he remembered Rendy. He immediately grabbed his flat object. However, again his hand came to a halt, when he found a piece of paper folded over a nightstand overlaid by a tissue box just a few centimeters away from his phone.
David paused for a moment to look at the paper. After a while, he grabbed the paper with a slight hesitation. David started to open it. He seemed to have jumped, his eyes were suddenly wide open, when he found out the contents of the paper. A letter from Aretha.
To : Mas David
Mas, sorry I left.
Honestly I'm still disappointed by your decision to cancel our marriage unilaterally, I'm very disappointed. And it makes me doubt your feelings for me.
All night I thought, do you really love me or not? Because, your attitude seems to make me hesitate to believe it, that you really love me.
I think we need some time to think, whether this marriage is worth continuing or not. I hope you can strengthen your feelings for me first, before making a decision. Even with me who needs time to think so as not to choose the wrong person who will accompany my life in the future.
I'm sorry I left you in this situation. Hope you recover quickly.
Aretha
"Aarrgh!" David groaned in frustration as he ruffled his own hair. He did not think that his actions could make Aretha this disappointed.
"Why are you doing this, Re? I love you, was my attitude not convincing enough?" said disappointed.
David really regretted his actions. He was also aware of his attitude that seemed to be wishy-washy. But that's not the truth. He just does not want to see his best friend live a slumped life because of the loss of the woman he loves so much, especially the cause is himself.
Repeatedly he thought of letting go of Aretha to Richard who was dying. Although it was also hard for him, but there was indeed nothing he could do for Richard, other than that. Hoping that they could live happily, Richard would probably be more eager to live. But it turns out it was wrong.
Impressed to ignore Aretha's feelings indeed. However, when it comes to feelings, she is the most hurt here, when Aretha is actually married to Richard later.
There was a sense of happiness, when Aretha refused his request. Even more so when he also knew that Richard's operation was going smoothly. However, why did it suddenly become like that, after last night he explained to Aretha?
"No! I can't panic! I'm sure Aretha is still here" David said as if he didn't want to give up. "I have to find him immediately" he added.
