RUN WITH ME
CHAPTER 1: GAVIN KANAGARA

"Breaking news! Our school will have new students!" His loud voice was able to attract the attention of all his classmates, coupled with his sentence that sounded quite strange. New kid at school in second semester?

"Seriously? You know from who?" ask a student who is sitting in the back area of the class with his gang.

The thousand-ear student walked up to the horde with a confident smile. He stood in the middle of the horde, putting his hands on the table with his body slightly leaning forward. Everyone in the crowd stared intensely, as if urging him to open his mouth immediately. However, the hand of the news spreader stretched out with the palm facing up. Everyone understood the meaning of the students.

"Tell me first, I'll give you Felicia Charlene" said the group's representative, or perhaps better known as its "chairman.

"You know this is how I do business, Tania Hartanto." That answer made Tania finally take out her pink wallet, take out a piece of blue-colored paper, and give it to the informant with a slightly irritated face. Unlike the recipient who shows a bright face while putting the money into the pocket of his uniform.

He cleared his throat a little, and he began to tell me, "my mother and the wife of our principal were in the same row, and then yesterday, his wife said that tomorrow, aka today, he said, our school will have new students. It sounds strange to hear of a new student in the second semester of school, but the principal must accept it because he comes from a famous and strong family."

"Where's the family?" tanya impatiently. In this enormous world, there were countless families that were famous and had powerful power. If the family is able to make the headmaster bend the knee, then it is certain that the family is not playing games.

"Kanagara." The entire pair of eyes there widened and shouted the same one word in a loud voice, "huh?"

Again all attention was given to the horde in the corner, but they did not care and still tried to digest that one word.

"No way" said Tania's friend Wilona, with her hands closed.

"But didn't the Kanagara family live in England? Why did they move here?" Felicia shook her head, signifying her ignorance.

"Nobody knows why they moved. The news of their move alone had made the upper class world in an uproar, no one cared about it," continued the informant with two raised shoulders.

"But this is also an opportunity for us to see their faces, especially their firstborn. You know that he is known to be very talented and has a face that he says is very handsome. Unfortunately he does not like to be covered, so until now there is not a single picture of his face scattered on the internet," said Wilona who was replied with a nod of agreement from all.

"There are also those who say—" Unfortunately the sentence must be interrupted due to the noisy atmosphere along the hallway. The students were running around as if a ghost was chasing them, making Felicia quickly walk outside the classroom and hold one male disciple.

"What's this?" felicia asked as she looked straight at the student whose breathing was panting.

"Maverick .. and Archie .. they'll be playing basketball on the outdoor court!" obviously the student with a choking voice, then took off the hold of Felicia in his hand and ran back to chase after his friends who were far ahead.

After hearing that, Felicia turned her body and looked at the horde of Tania. As if inward contact, they quickly followed the group towards the outdoor field located at the back of the school. Arriving there, they could see Maverick and Archie had stood in the middle of the field still wearing his uniform. Little information, it's been an open secret Maverick and Archie had a bad relationship. They hated each other for unknown reasons, as if the originally mundane relationship had changed overnight. But that bad relationship was enjoyed by many students because it made them able to watch free games as they are now.

"How many matches, huh?" ask Tania when she gets there.

"Okay, maybe dozens? Their relationship had deteriorated since first grade," replied Felicia who was standing next to him.

While in the middle of the court there, standing between Maverick and Archie, the student known as the captain of the school basketball team became the referee. His right hand had raised the ball high and a whistle was already in his mouth. His eyes glanced at Maverick and Archie in turn and before long the whistle he sounded while throwing a little ball.

"Son, come here, introduce yourself to the principal and teachers here" called a man almost five heads in age. "Thank you, also please understand my language, I'm still trying to learn it." The sentence invited the laughter of all the people there and was replied with a nod of understanding. After that brief introductory session, Gavin and Harris—dayah Gavin—were taken on a short tour to introduce the school plan to Gavin. Then, they arrive at an out-door court that is still crowded because of the basketball game between Maverick and Archie. Gavin met the match closely, in contrast to his father who was busy talking to the principal. It felt like he wanted to watch it at close range, so he gave his father permission and was allowed to.

After becoming closer to the field, Gavin watched comfortably for a few minutes as no student was aware of Gavin's existence as a foreign student. Then, Gavin's ears begin to twitch as some of the students are talking about him, wondering who he is. He also knew he had to get out of the crowd. Gavin turned his body around and said excuse me, asking the disciple in front of him to give way. Well, Gavin became unaware that Maverick and Archie were running towards the side of the field standing. The ball in Archie's hand was deliberately pushed by Maverick to escape from there and the impulse was strong enough to soar and hit Gavin's head hard.

Gavin crouched down and groaned low while holding his back head, while the game between Maverick and Archie immediately stopped at that moment. They ran up to Gavin, Maverick crouched down on Gavin's left side, and Archie stood behind Gavin with his hands folded in front of his chest.

"Hey, I'm sorry, are you okay?" maverick asked as he gently held onto the unknown man's shoulder.

Unlike Maverick, Archie snorted, "it shouldn't hurt, if you're a boy." Maverick's forehead swooped sharply when he heard Archie stress his last three words.

"You man or no man, everyone is bound to be in pain when his head is hit by a ball." Although not fully understood, somehow Gavin felt he had to agree with his words so he nodded slowly, while his finger pressed his head slightly and twirled around, hoping this way could relieve the pain a little.

Maverick who saw it immediately held Gavin's hand, "don't be like that, you'll just make the part redder. Come on, 'I'll take you to the medical room." Actually Gavin did not understand what Maverick said, but when he heard the word 'medical room', he knew that he would be brought to be treated.

During the trip, Gavin and Maverick get to know each other and it doesn't take long for them to become familiar because of Maverick's superhuman nature. They communicate with two languages—Indonesia and English—and several times Maverick taught him new words. Gavin can forget a little bit about the pain in his head. Arriving at the medical room, Maverick knocks on the door and tells him to come in.

"You take care of today, Run?" maverick asked a woman who was crouching in front of the drugstore, while Gavin just silently watched.

Knowing the voice, the woman turned her head and gave a five-finger smile, "yes, why? Fighting with Archie again?" Maverick shook his head and shifted his body so that the woman could see another figure who had previously been unaware of his presence.

The woman was silent for a while, and so was Gavin. Two pairs of neutrals with contrasting colors that look at each other until the sixth second and the seventh second, Maverick cleared his throat, making the two men realize. Gavin turned his head to the side, while the others lowered their heads for a moment. Before long the woman stood up and gave a friendly smile to Gavin, "have a seat please" he said, pointing at the small bed in front of him. Gavin followed his words (please sit down)

"All right, I'll go first, yeah. That fool must be pinching in the field right now." The woman nodded while laughing. The sound of the door opening and returning closed signifies that now there is only Gavin and the woman there.

This woman Gavin did not know approached him with an ice bag compress in her hand. Gavin looked as if asking how the woman knew his condition? The woman did not ask at all. And as if capturing the question, the woman said, "since then your hand was there*." Gavin then realized the position of his hand that could not be separated from the back of his head (since your hand was there.)
