RUN WITH ME

RUN WITH ME
CHAPTER 39: THE ROOM

Rebecca and Erlano's introduction session went pretty well. Gavin did not say much during this time and chose to be a spectator. The man could see the father's sparkling eyes every time he told me a little about Rebecca and Erlano, making Gavin inevitably recall the old memories of his parents. Gavin couldn't turn his back, that look was there when his father talked about his mother when he was a child, and he felt grateful for it.

After spending about an hour and a half there, the little family moved to fill their bellies which began to sound. Their choice fell on a luxury restaurant serving a variety of Asian, Italian, and French dishes. As the journey to the place takes one hour and six minutes, Gavin finally chooses to close his eyes and enter the world of his dreams.

When the latest black sedan from the world-famous brand stopped, the driver slowly woke Gavin with his polite voice. Fortunately, a pair of Gavin ears can quickly catch the sounds so that the driver does not need to move from the steering wheel in order to wake Gavin. The teenager opened his eyes several times and began to collect his life. Somehow he felt dreaming of something during his sleep, but he could not remember it. Gavin's heart felt that the dream was quite important because the part of him was pounding. But Gavin finally chose not to think about it anymore and prepared to get out of the car.

When the car door opened, Gavin immediately moved his body to fully exit the four-wheeled vehicle. A piece of wind gently stroked her face and swept her hair, making her have to pull her mane up so as not to disturb the scene. Without the man realizing it, he had become the center of attention of the people around him, whether they wanted to fill the stomach in the same restaurant or those who just passed by. You could say his appearance caused whispers full of admiration from those people.

Without waiting any longer, Gavin immediately stepped foot after his family who had walked into the restaurant first. The restaurant is quite crowded because it is now a lunch hour, especially this restaurant is known to have very delicious and diverse cuisine. The interior is also very charming by carrying the concept of Western European countries.

The family continued to follow the waiter who was the guide to the private room that had been booked during the trip. Moments later the maid stopped in front of a door and opened it, and invited her guest in.

At the round table that could hold up to six people, the Canagaras sat in the order of Harris, Gavin, Rebecca, and Erlano so that the married couple was positioned face to face; so too with two brothers. Then the waiter who delivered them put three menu books on the table.

"You're going to make a reservation now?" ask the waiter in a polite voice.

"We'll take a look first," Rebecca replied with a faint smile on her lips. The waiter nodded in understanding, then slowly left the room after telling him how to call the waiter when he wanted to order.

After a small discussion, the four men finally agreed on what food to order. Rebecca also pressed a small button attached to the table, not far from her seat. The sound of the bell was heard twice, indicating that there was a call from the private room. Before long a waiter—not the one who delivered them earlier—come with a tablet in his hand. Do you know that in this age everything is digital? And so is this restaurant.

"For the appetizer, we ordered the Canapes de la Casa. Then to the main course ...." Rebecca said one by one the menu was desired, while the waiter was busy recording the orders through a rectangular object in his hand. After that, the waiter repeats what has been ordered so that there are no errors during the presentation and in accordance with the wishes of the customer. There was nothing wrong with the waiter resigning from the room.

Silence invaded the room containing the four people. Rebecca was busy responding to Erlano's relentless chatter, while Harris's gaze could not be separated from her phone because there was little work to be done. Gavin, sandwiched between two busy adults, was silent while playing his smart device. His fingers were busy going up and down without a definite purpose. Open one application, but not up to three minutes closed. Then open another app and do the same. Lately there's been nothing of interest in that million-function thing. It was a boring wait.

Without Gavin realizing it, Harris had closed his gadget and stared inside the firstborn. Rebecca noticed the unusual movements of her husband, so her focus was diverted. Somehow his hunch said something unpleasant would happen after this.

"Father, you should start reducing your visit to your mother's grave" continued Harris, who left everyone speechless, except Erlano, who was silent because he didn't understand.

Gavin's eyebrows swooped sharply with a deeply furrowed forehead. "What do you mean, dad?" gavin asked for more explanation from Harris.

"It's time for you to move on from your mother's departure. Anahita died ten years ago, Gavin, let her rest in peace." Gavin was silent hearing that. His head was still trying to process the father's explanation and trying to take the positive value of the sentence. Why does it feel like nothing, huh?

Today Gavin has wavered a little after hearing the brief greeting his father told his mother earlier, even though he now lives with Rebecca. But after hearing Harris say that, Gavin felt like he wanted to undo all the pity he had and would continue to fight for his mother's rights in his family.

With a fierce rage burning within him, Gavin stood up from his seat violently. The seat was pushed up to make a loud sound, shocking everyone there. Both of his hands he put on the table and used them as a pedestal for his slightly bent body.

A pair of beautiful Netra Gavin was sealed with a hunting breath, completely unstable. His ten fingers clenched tightly until the tablecloth in front of him joined in his grasp. "How can I accept when my mother's death was caused by those elders? Father forgot? I killed myself because I couldn't stand the pressure from my family!" Gavin's voice grew louder with each breath. The father's words really made him angry and sad. A considerable disappointment was engraved in his heart.

Harris was speechless at the child's emotion-filled sentence, while Gavin was ready to open his mouth again before his gaze accidentally saw Rebecca who had covered both of Erlano's ears. Only then did Gavin realize, he could not act like this in front of his sister. In order to calm himself, Gavin finally chose to step away from the dining room with a sour face. After the door closed slightly rough, Rebecca stared intently at the husband while keeping her hands away from Erlano's ears.

"Have you never learned how to speak with courtesy and courtesy? How can you say something so sensitive in your speaking style like you're talking about your new song?" Indeed this was a rare moment of seeing Rebecca side with Gavin. But that's what he is, even though he's not familiar with Gavin, doesn't mean he'll be silent about a father talking so coldly about a topic that's very sensitive to his son.

"I just want Gavin to let go, sweetheart. Didn't you see it for yourself? Gavin was always sad when he remembered Anahita, but I'm sure Anahita didn't want that." Harris tried to explain the meaning of his words in as gentle a tone as possible. He began to realize, the arrangement of his words was very terrible.

"But that's not the way, Harris Kanagara. Anahita died when Gavin was six years old, at a time when Gavin did not even understand what suicide was. What Gavin knew at the time was that his mother had died suddenly and had not left him a single message. You should understand how Gavin feels, but why do you always act like Anahita has never been the most important person in your life?" Sentence after sentence Rebecca blurted out sternly and clearly. He wanted Harris to catch every word that came out of his mouth. He grew fed up with Harris's increasingly visible attitude that he never cared about his son's feelings.

On the other hand, the question from the wife hit herself on target so Harris could only be silent and not give an answer.
