Shadow King Chronicles: Building a Kingdom From Behind the Scenes
The War That Was Won

Starfall's forces numbered at least 5000 to 8000 personnel consisting of many parts. That doesn't include volunteers. At least, there is a logistics section that takes care of the needs of personnel. There are 300 people. They take care of food supplies and war supplies, ensure supply lines remain safe, or secure supplies themselves.

Then there's the artillery piece. They were the ones in charge of operating the magic cannon. They numbered about 40 active duty men and some went into reserve while waiting for the other cannons to be completed.

Then there were light and heavy cavalry units that each numbered 2000 troops. The heavy cavalry used a full armour and the Hulbert was large. Although slower than light cavalry, they have great attack power and are destroyed heavily on enemies.

Instead, light cavalry used armor that had a lighter weight and a small but quite long sword. Although their attacking and crushing power was not as great as heavy cavalry, they benefited with more flexible speed and mobility. That makes them easy to maneuver to mess up the enemy's wings.

Next is the infantry unit. The unit itself is divided into two parts. There are regular infantry units from Starfall units or volunteer units trained for three to six months. Their number is over 5000. They were equipped with a large shield and a spear, sword, arrow, or magic rifle.

But because the number of magic rifles themselves is limited, in the end they are separated and form their own squad named Riffleman squad 1st and 2nd. Each of them numbered 100 people.

The rest, they are medical teams that will serve in the back and front lines, then blacksmiths who will be assigned to repair weapons and other equipment that has been damaged, and others.

"We will bring 3000 troops to the capital via the highway route we have built. Winter has changed and the road is free. At most in two weeks, we'll be at Venz."

Issac is holding a war council. Tomorrow, they will immediately launch a campaign of attack on the capital and push Duke Conrad's forces deep into his territory in the South. Issac's preparations have been completed and the troops will be dispatched soon.

"All right then. This time, princess Aurellia will participate. His presence will raise the morale of the troops who will fight later."

There was Issac and each of the field commanders. Naturally, Aurellia was also present in this war council. He even looks excited. Issac was helped by Aurellia because he also brought the loyal royal army with him.

"of course. I'll come with you to advance to the front lines. I can't stand idly by when the people fight for me while I'm still holding my hands."

The other commander nodded. The people want to fight because their princesses are trying to protect their lives in various ways. Of course the people would gladly advance to the battlefield to defend their princess.

But Issac as a shakes. It was true that if Aurellia fought on the front lines, then the morale of the soldiers and the others would increase drastically. Even they would be soldiers who were not afraid of death.

"No, the princess will stay behind. We must not let the most important and supreme command in this war be in danger. Princess, I'm sorry. For the good of the army and you, please stay behind."

Aurellia seemed to want to refute. But she was sure her lover would think the best for her. That was why he finally agreed to be placed on the back line.

"There's a chance Duke Conrad's army will send 5,000 to 10,000 men to stand in our way. All the post guards have been pulled back. They must have occupied that post by now. Quantitatively, we lose."

"No problem. Remember, our goal in our battle this time is not to win. Not our goal is to win but basically, we have a bigger end goal."

Charles feared Duke Conrad's large army but Issac calmed Charles down. After all although they were superior in quantity, the quality of the Starfall army was far superior.

After discussing a few more strategies, the war council was finally finished. Tomorrow, troops will be dispatched and will likely meet Duke Conrad's forces within five days.

The smell of blood everywhere. Bodies were scattered and crows pegged various scattered carcasses. Among them, there were some who were still alive, but they thought that death was better.

Faster than Issac had imagined, his army had reached the battlefield first. As a result, they can rest faster and prepare more maturely. The night before the battle, Aurellia toured the camp and encouraged the troops.

As a result, when the war broke out, the Starfall Army gained a landslide victory with no more than 200 casualties. Half of Duke Conrad's men were either killed or taken prisoner.

This victory had a great impact on the direction of the war. Duke Conrad really had a crisis and was devastated. He didn't have the song of many troops and their financial capabilities collapsed.

But baby, this isn't the last bad news. There are a lot of news that will make them more chaotic later. In this way, the direction of the battle was predictable.
