Shadow King Chronicles: Building a Kingdom From Behind the Scenes
Bloody Night In Pesa

The battle was finally over when night fell. Since it was dark while the lighting facilities at Pesa were not as good as those at Venz, queen Aurellia would enter Pesa the next day. Now, he remains on the back line after being exhausted from having to manage things.

Civilians were immediately evacuated. They were taken to a semi-permanent building outside Pesa and would stay there for a while. While the beastmen who had surrendered and become captives were taken to an underground prison of the Garlin royal palace and held there.

Despite being treated coldly by the prison guards, the captives received relatively good treatment. They were given food and a bed and a blanket to rest on. Due to exhaustion, they immediately fell asleep.

While on the streets of Pesa, the soldiers were patrolling and anticipating a rebellion that might come from loyalists Boabdil. He himself is now resting in a medical tent after getting treatment from the royal army's medical team.

Issac was taking a walk in Pesa. Not alone, Marina accompanied him. Thanks to persuasion by the girls, Marina agrees to join the kingdom of Heinz on the condition that Boabdil be allowed to live. Issac doesn't mind that.

A lot of strategic information was leaked to the royal side thanks to him. That includes the military might of the Garlin kingdom, the total soldiers ready for battle, the logistical reserves they have, and many others.

Therefore, the conquest of Pesa became easier thanks to him.

"I didn't expect that a stiff person like you would join us. Well, I'm grateful anyway. But I'm not naive either. Your ultimate goal must be something bigger, right?"

Marina nodded. It must be admitted that he joined the kingdom not only because he wanted to save Boabdil's life. More than that, he wanted to save the fate of the beastmen.

At first he was convinced that he could win against Heinz's kingdom. It was because he lacked information. During this time he only relied on information from the scouts who acted on the border. But after seeing for themselves the power of Heinz's kingdom, they were convinced that Garlin's kingdom would have no chance of victory.

"Rather than continuing to force yourself to go to war and suffer a far more terrible defeat, making a deal with the palace chief of staff wasn't too bad."

Marina says it casually. He was sharp as always. Issac admired his talent in internal affairs like this. Totally contrast if juxtaposed with Boabdil short-spiced.

"Let's talk about a deal later. Now, I have information that an entity outside the Elf empire and the Dwarf kingdom is meddling in this war. Is that true?"

Marina was surprised but she immediately calmed down. Issac read Marina's surprise. Her fox's tail and ears look very adorable when she's surprised. So Issac stroked Marina's head gently.

"Sorry, but the intelligence network I have is much broader and deeper than you might imagine. It's my job to get all the important information to secure the queen's power and make the kingdom stronger."

"That's amazing. But most importantly get your hands off my head Playboy bastard! Don't touch....huh?"

A flying dagger almost hit his heart, but the katana Issac was faster than the dagger and deflected it to a great extent. It was then that Marina felt the presence of many people. Probably more than a thousand. They come from behind the ruins or dark corners in Pesa.

"I think we have an uninvited guest. Marina, stand behind me. You're not very good at fighting, are you?"

Marina had no choice. If he fought, he would just be a burden. The only way to avoid that was Marina inevitably having to obey Issac's Instructions.

Then from behind the wall, a shadow flew towards them. But in a short time, the gloomy shadow was filled with fresh blood. Issac had killed him without touching the shadow.

Seeing his dead comrades, they all came out immediately. As Marina felt, they numbered over a thousand people and had surrounded herself as well as Issac. In contrast to the trembling Marina, Issac smiled instead. Finally out. That's what's going through his head.

"How dare. A chief of staff of the royal palace of Heinz roamed the city with only two men without an escort. Just chill. No soldier will come to your aid. This whole area has been fitted with a barrier that blocks one's perception."

One of the men who might have acted as the leader of this group was standing on top of a still sturdy building. His face was not clearly visible because it was covered in a hood. But Issac could tell that the man was a man.

"intriguing. So the information is correct. The Garlin kingdom had formed a secret agreement with the Moskov empire. And if something bad happens you'll act like this huh? It's amazing."

Not saying anything more, he gave the signal to his soldiers to immediately kill Issac and Marina. All his subordinates from above, front, back, left, and right charged at the two unfortunate people who could do nothing.

But they do not know that misfortune will befall them. With just a single flick of his finger, everyone within ten meters of his surroundings, except Marina, instantly shattered into pieces.

A large circle appeared in the sky. Black rain of flames flushed through the city and attacked the horde of people mercilessly. Everyone standing there was completely burned by the divine flame and could not be extinguished. In a short time, everyone who was burning had died.

"Curtainly, who are you! Are you the devil!? No, as the bishops of the temple of the twelve goddesses of the Heinz kingdom said, you are the messenger of the evil god right!?"

The leader who saw how his men were slaughtered with no leftovers in a frightening manner fell into confusion. He never thought a chief of staff like Issac had such terrifying strength.

"The Devil is you, right? I've been suspicious of daritadi. It seems like the blood flowing through your body contains the blood of the demons right? Looks like you transfused demon blood into your body huh? It's more interesting than I imagined."

That guy looks a little shaky. But a moment later, a disgusting laugh came out from that person's mouth.

"Haha! Aye! This is the demon blood flowing inside my body! Thanks to this blood, I became extremely strong! No matter the number of people I face, a thousand or ten thousand people, they are all not enough to defeat me!"

With arrogance he started darting towards Issac with a sword in his hand. Very fast! Even without the strengthening magic power, he could move that fast.

But Issac appeared before him. His eyes that gave up on light did not show a single speck of fear. He punched the man in the face slowly. But the impact is terrible.

He immediately slammed and swirled in the air and fell to the ground very tightly. So fast that the land was destroyed and a puff of dust formed.

But from there, a small sword flew towards Issac at a speed like a projectile fired from a firearm. Slow. Issac managed to catch him with just two fingers.

"A switch like this won't fool me."

And from behind, the man appeared and aimed at Issac's left neck. But the swing of his sword was held with his bare hands. Sensing the danger, he immediately retreated. Fortunately succeeded. But he had to sacrifice his right hand because Issac's grip on his blade was very strong.

As powerful as he was, he attacked Issac with lightning magic and his close-range attacks. But every time he threw a lightning spear or every time he slashed his sword, nothing could hit his enemy.

Frustrated because of that, anger peaked within him.

"Who are you really! No matter how much I use my power, everything can't hit you! Bastard!"

"Who am I? It's obvious, right? I'm Issac Starfall. The chief of staff of the royal court Heinz. Why are you asking again? Oh, it seems it's time."

He did not understand what Issac meant. But a second later, an immense pain invaded him. His blood was turbulent and his bones felt like they were being crushed one by one. Unable to endure the pain, he shouted.

"The blood of the devil is very strong blood. If it did not have a match, the one who received the blood would definitely die instantly. Maybe your body is a match, but in order to withstand the ever-increasing demonic-power, you definitely need some sort of medicinal serum that you should consume right?

"Unfortunately, you've unleashed too much demonic-power without using that serum. As a result, you are in pain now. Your body's not gonna be strong enough to bear that burden and you're gonna die."

Over time, the person's body began to melt. What Issac said was true as his body turned into a strange shape. Slowly, his life began to disappear and in the end, the man died a terrible death.

"Disturbing scenery. [Clean]. Well now it's settled. Oi Marina, let's get out of the....huh?"

Marina subconsciously looked at Issac with a terrified expression. Tonight, it was like seeing a god of death descending from the divine realm and spreading fear in the heart of every human being. No matter where he went, no matter where he walked, death would definitely follow behind him.

"Don't put on a face like that, Marina. You know.I may have long stopped being human. Take it easy, I still leave affection so don't be afraid. I won't kill those who don't deserve to be killed."

Marina gulped her saliva. How could he casually say such a thing? I don't know why he believed her.

That night, they scraped valuable information from the evidence the bodies left behind in a warehouse.
