Past Times

Upon Damian's return from the guild, the young man went straight home to his residence. His mother was in the garden, seemingly meeting guests from among the nobles as well. Damian used that to meet with Arabela. According to the servants, the sister-in-law was spending time with her son and daughter in the library room.

Without wasting any time, Damian darted into the library and found Arabela with her two children reading a book. Arabela was not surprised to see Damian coming. Instead she told her two three and four-year-old children to play elsewhere with their nanny. Damian now lives alone with Arabela.

“It looks like you have received my request letter, Damian,” said Arabela while still sitting at the reading table.

Damian sat down before the woman, sighing a heavy sigh. “Do you really have to make it this far?” ask Damian later.

Arabela was silent for a moment. She pulled the sleeves of her dress that closed to her wrists. Behind the pastel green dress, there were a lot of bruises. Some cuts and burns are also visible. Arabela continued by opening the collar of her tall dress to cover her neck. On the woman's neck now it looks bruised like a giggle.

Damian did not react and just waited for Arabela to answer her question.

“Don't you ignite the first fire yourself? I just continued it as you wanted. My hatred for Titus is as great as your hatred for him, Damian,”, Arabela said later.

“I don't hate him. I never hated anyone,” Damian said quickly.

“Oh alright. Then let's just say you're happy to see someone else suffer. I've given you a chance to make your first brother suffer. You just need to eat the bait, Damian,” continued Arabela expressionlessly.

“You bet on a big thing,” comments Damian.

Arabela smiled wryly. “I'm not risking anything. Only retaliation. That's what I want. I don't care if after that my life will suffer more. Or my family was destroyed by your father. I want Titus to pay for what he did to me. I've been holding out for five years. My entire body, even my pride has been trampled. I almost lost my sanity.”

Damian watched Arabela coldly. From the beginning he did not like to hang out with his sister's wives. They have a strange, slightly dangerous nature. I don't know why his two brothers chose to marry such a woman. Although the truth is, Damian at least wants to deal with Arabela. They have a not-so-good past.

“Do you not think about your children?” ask Damian again.

Arabela snorts short. “Liem will be Duke Castor's heir. And Mallice is also the official daughter of the Castor family. Both of your parents will take care of them even if I get kicked out.” Arabela answered without thinking, as if she had indeed made up her mind to destroy her husband.

Damian could only shake his head in disbelief. “Crazy fundamentals,” murmured while clucking.

“Are you afraid that your family will be destroyed? You can't really care about my kids. People who have no heart like you, don't act as if you have sympathy, ” said Arabela sarcastically.

Arabela snorts short. “Instead I know more of your calm than anyone. You have to admit it, Damian.”

Damian took a deep breath and looked up to clear his mind. Memories of the past suddenly flooded his mind. But Damian immediately got rid of these thoughts and regained control of himself.

“Everyone changes. Me included. I'm no longer the Damian you knew eight years ago. I'm not an innocent kid that you can fool easily, Arabela,” Damian said sharply.

“Of course you've changed. But your heartache for your brothers hasn't changed. It might just get more painful.” Arabela kept trying to suppress Damian by touching the wounds in her heart.

Damian stood up. He didn't want to talk to Arabela any further. The topic the woman had brought along had gone too far and made her recall sickening bad memories. Just as she was about to walk away, Arabela called out to her once more.

“Titus has taken me from you, Damian. And now he treats me like this. You think I can live happily? Are you happy to see me hurt?” said Arabela holding Damian's steps.

Damian gritted his teeth furiously. “Don't think that you can try to take advantage of my feelings, Arabela. My heart has been dead ever since you decided to accept my sister's proposal,” growled while breaking away from Arabela's embrace.

Damian went back to his own room. He cursed furiously with his foolish deeds. From the beginning he did not need to see Arabela. And that absurd case, he should have thrown away without even considering. Is Damian angry?

He's feeling distracted. Arabela and Damian are little friends. They met on their debutante Arabela show eight years ago. Damian is two years younger than Arabela. Damian was only thirteen years old, still so naive and innocent.

Damian teen falls in love at first sight on Arabela. The two became friends and began to get closer. Day after day, Damian spent a lot of time with Arabela. However, three years later, he got word that his first brother, Titus, sent a letter of application to his idol. Damian tries to meet with Arabela and asks the girl to turn him down. But instead of being able to meet, Damian gets word that Arabela is getting married to Titus.

Since then, the heartbroken Damian no longer believes in love. He killed his heart so that there was no need to feel any more emotions too deeply. Damian transforms into a ruthless delator with a venomous mouth. His words could execute anyone Damian thought was guilty.

Now in front of the young man, it was as if Arabela was testing him. After five years of their marriage, why is it only now that Arabela is trying to destroy Titus? More than that, why was he willing to marry Damian's brother from the beginning?

Damian's annoyance continued because he felt that Arabela had looked down on him. The woman thought that Damian was an easy-going young man. He really did not want to take the case if he thought of his heartache on Arabela. But on the other hand, it was his chance to destroy Titus and all his arrogance. He may not be able to become Duke's heir even if his first brother is punished, but at least he wants to see Titus suffer for his own actions. Damian wanted to punish his brother.
