After an argument with her brother, Damian now begins to avoid Titus. And her sister, who never ate with her family again. That awkward feeling made Damian finally decide to spend the night outside for a few days. He stayed at an inn in the capital. Sometimes he calls Cassie to accompany him there.
The Castor family servant several times came and sent a letter from Damian's mother. The contents of the letter requested that Damian return home immediately. But the young man ignored him. He always drove the servants who came from his family's residence without giving an answer what for his mother.
Exactly five days after the dispute with Titus, the trial of Damian's case was held. At this moment, Damian inevitably had to meet his father who worked in the prosecutor's office. Duke Castor currently serves as the Chief Justice.
The prosecutor's office was built right in the city center. The building is magnificent with high ceilings supported by rows of beautiful marble pillars. In the building's atrium, a statue of Goddess Themis, the goddess of justice, rises five meters high. The statue is in the form of a woman who carries the scales of her left hand id and the sword in her right hand. His eyes were covered in a heavy cloth that made him unable to see. The statue was also carved from white marble and became an architectural decoration that beautifies the building.
Damian entered through the atrium. Just a few steps away, a young man with a black toga approached him. Damian knows the young man as Seamus, one of his father's subordinates who works as an apprentice young prosecutor.
“You have arrived, Damian,” the young man said as he walked next to Damian.
“See you also just arrived,” Damian said as he swept his gaze across the atrium. Some people seemed to be crowded into the place. Most were residents who wanted to watch the trial run that day. Others, who wore black toga, were the supervisory board of the trial.
“No. I've been there since morning. I'm here waiting for you,” said Seamus.
Damian frowned confused and turned to Seamus who had brilliant black eyes with curls cut flat. “Waiting me? Wh why? I know we don't have the same trial schedule. Did you become the board supervisor on my case today?” ask Damian to make sure.
Seamus shook his head slowly. “No. I just finished another trial. I'm here because your father asked me to take you to his room as soon as I got here. So sorry, I had to drag you there first. You know for yourself how terrible Duke Castor is when he is upset,” said the young man as he gripped Damian's arm and led him in the opposite direction.
Damian tried to rebel to escape. “Don't try it ..”
“I know you will refuse, therefore I also prepared some friends to persuade you,” cut Seamus while coding some knights guarding nearby.
Two knights in armor approached. They flanked Damian in such a way that the young man could not escape again.
“My trial will start soon, Seamus. Please let me go. I promise to see my father after the trial is over,” Damian's pinta twisted the strategy to be free. He was compassionate, hoping that the young Seamus could pity him.
Unfortunately, this strategy does not work at all. Seamus remained clutching the already-complete Damian wearing a black toga and carrying the valuable evidence he got from the brothel. Cassie might be here any minute. He had to be in the right place to meet the girl.
After walking down the hallway after the hallway, they finally arrived at an elegant workspace filled with bookshelves containing case documents that had been handled in the prosecutor's office. a large work desk is embedded at the end of the room, close to the fireplace. Duke Castor, Damian's father, sat behind the desk studying a thick document before him.
After Seamus entered the room with Damian, the Duke moved from his desk and sat on the sofa in the middle of the room. Damian was also dragged to sit in front of his father. Seamus and the two guard knights left after completing their duties successfully. Meanwhile, Damian could only glance at them in annoyance, thinking of avenging Seamus in the next trial.
“You have arrived, Damian,” said his father while pouring a bottle of brandy in a small catchphrase. Duke Castor then extended the catch to Damian.
He received a drink in the small glass. “Yes, dad,” he replied then put the light brown liquor on the table.
The father poured himself a drink and began to speak again. “I probably shouldn't have told you this because you're my youngest child, but you know for yourself how stubborn your first brother was. Whatever your problem, it's best to make things right. Your brother almost never showed up again in the dining room after you guys had a fight,” Duke Castor said and then straightened up his liquor.
Damian breathed a tired sigh. His father always defended Titus. His first brother was the successor of the Duke family, who would later replace his father as the head of the family. Perhaps for that reason the father was always on Titus' side.
Damian hates that. Duke Castor never cared about his other children other than his first brother. Even in this case, when Titus broke into Damian's room and delivered the first blow, Duke Castor asked Damian for forgiveness.
“I was just defending myself back then, Dad. The brother who stormed into my room,” denied Damian reluctantly complied with his father's request.
Duke Castor leaned his back against the back of the sofa. His breathing was heavy as if he was tired of facing the world. He looked at Damian as if he was warning.
“Titus is not a person who can carelessly make trouble. Stop provoking your brother and just apologize. You always make the family atmosphere complicated,” said his father sharply.
Damian's heart is breaking. His father's words were so piercing and made him hurt. In his father's eyes, Damian was just a useless youngest son.
“I'll think about it, Dad. Thank you for the advice,” murmured Damian later. The young man then downed his brandy sloki and then moved off the sofa. “Good day,” he continued before finally turning away from the office of the Chief Justice.
Duke Castor observed his son's departure with a sharp look. Damian doesn't care about it anymore. He has a case to deal with today.
