Tribunal

Damian finally arrived at the courtroom a little late because of his father. Everyone came and sat in their own place. The room resembles a mini amphitheater with circular stepped seating used as a venue for trial spectators.

At the end of the room, there is a pulpit built high up there. That place is where the judge will decide the case. In the middle of the room are two sides of a table used by the accuser and the accused. The two sat opposite each other with their respective defense attorneys.

Damian took a seat on one of the stepped seats that were close to the councils. He sat in the front row and waited for his turn to appear. The trial started about ten minutes ago. Damian can estimate it because now the case file reading is still not finished.

While waiting, the young man circulated his glance. He saw Viscountess Gausse sitting on the left side, wearing a hat with a dark face and visibly holding back sobs. Her husband sat on the right side, looking like a parliament and sitting arrogantly as if that day he would win the case.

Cassie was seen sitting not far from Damian, in the second row of the audience's seats. The woman waved briefly at Damian, stating that she had seen the young man coming. Damian waved his hand back at a glance, then again observed the course of the trial.

“Viscount Gausse, you received accusations of infidelity behind the back of your wife. What is your rebuttal?” the Prosecutor began to carry out his role.

The man around mid-thirty years old laughed mockingly. “My wife is just paranoid. He has had a disorder since his parents divorced and his father cheated on him. All this time he just thought as he wanted and accused me of being a no-no. He doesn't even have evidence of the allegations,” said the Viscount looking confident.

From a distance Damian only snorted shortly full of reproach. How could someone who was guilty become so confident like that. It was as if he had committed no crime at all. Repugn.

“Unfortunately your wife has evidence of the affair,” muttered the prosecutor while grinning.

The prosecutor then glanced at Damian who was sitting near the council members. The young man stood up from his seat, then advanced to the court stage. It's time to act.

Damian calmly faced Viscount Gausse, whose face turned pale when he realized his arrival. Damian's arrival has confirmed his wife's victory at the trial. That young man was already very famous in Ponza. All the cases that relied on Damian's help as a delator, would definitely be won by him.

Damian just smiled wryly at the swearing. To Damian, the Viscount's words sounded like praise.

“Morituri te salutant, ,” said Damian saluted the judge. “According to Corpus Juris Civilis, the article of infidelity will usually punish the cheating spouse by parading him throughout the city while naked. Are you ready to accept the punishment, Viscount?” damian asked turned to the man who was already pale-faced.

“Your Highness Judge and ladies and gentlemen,” continued Damian while removing the wooden box in his coat pocket.

The young man opened the box and took out a pen and handkerchief belonging to Viscount Gausse left behind in the brothel. The two objects were then placed on a tray carried by a young man. This tray will be handed over to the judge who sits on the main pulpit.

“The two things I found in the last place visited by Viscount Gausse, Red Lotus,” said Damian finished his sentence.

The Viscount looked panicked. He immediately stood up from his seat while pointing furiously at Damian. “He lied! I lost that thing a few days ago. Someone stole it and set me up on purpose! Judge, please believe me,” whine the Viscount lost his mind.

“You! Don't you dare set me up! Everyone in Ponza knows your cunning Damian Castor too! Just because you're the son of the duke, doesn't mean you can ruin someone else's life,” exclaimed Viscount Gausse riled.

Damian just smiled knot. “If you remain innocent, I can call a witness who saw your arrival to Red Lotus,”.

Damian turned to Cassie and called her forward. Cassie nodded nervously, but she kept Damian's orders.
